Today’s positive bit of news comes courtesy of an unlikely title, as the much maligned Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will get an offline mode on December 10th.
While many gamers may see this news as something to laugh at, I feel it’s an announcement worth celebrating, as it seems to state that some big publishers have realized just killing off and burying tepidly received online games is not the way to go (sadly we still need someone to tell Ubisoft and Sony, among others). Suicide Squad: KtJL might not have resonated with gamers worldwide as much as Warner Bros and Rocksteady wanted, but it’s still a competently made looter shooter that can be enjoyable under the right circumstances. And even if it the makers of the Arkham series of games had somehow managed to create something that rivaled Big Rigs‘ crown of shame, I don’t think that should mean the game deserves to disappear forever once the publisher cuts off support for it. Thankfully, both Rocksteady and Warner Bros seem to agree.
The offline mode seems to be fairly beefy, including all the content released so far (and the upcoming Season 4 content which will mark the end of support for the title) with the only caveats being that you can’t convert an offline mode profile into an online profile (though the reverse option IS available, which is nice), that you can’t play multiplayer (this is to be expected, to be honest), and that you can’t progress battlepasses, earn premium currencies, or earn achievements if you aren’t connected to the Internet (this last bit only applies to the PC version).
