Problem creating new Blazor Template in Visual Studio after Windows 11 upgrade

Update

I see what is happening, but I am not sure what the cause is or how to resolve it:

When I use a template that was previously ‘installed’ in Visual Studios before we upgraded to Windows 11 – that template still works perfectly.

However, when I install a new template into VS (even a template that was created prior to upgrading to windows 11 – but not installed in VS), then I get the error when creating a new project from the template.

What is happening is that the newly installed templates fail to create the sln project file. It’s missing.

There is not a lot if information on Google. I have done the following, without success:

Repair Visual Studios
Repair NET SDK
Re-create the template from the original project.

I created a project template in Blazor, using Visual Studio 2022, and export to the VS template folder. Pretty cut and dry.

Note: because we use dynamic project naming throughout the template, we make the following modification to the file: MyTemplate.vstemplate (in the newly exported template folder):

I replaced the following line:

<Project TargetFileName="template123.csproj" File="BZ1Template4.0.csproj" ReplaceParameters="true">

with this line:

<Project TargetFileName="$safeprojectname$.csproj" File="$safeprojectname$.csproj" ReplaceParameters="true">

This process has been working perfectly for over a year now. That was, until we recently upgraded to Windows 11.

Now, I have a problem where all previously created templates work, just as they did before Windows 11. However, any new versions of the template that I create, fail with the following error:

Could not find file ‘C:\Users\ME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\VisualStudio\17.0_4cb345df\ProjectTemplateCache\TemplateName.zip$safeprojectname$.csproj

I am lost on this issue. It may or may not be directly related to Windows 11, but I can say that it started at the time we upgraded to W 11.

Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I’m paying American Express $900/year for its Android app’s dark mode

The American Express mobile app with the new Premium Theme dark mode.

Joe Maring / Android Authority

TL;DR

  • American Express’s mobile app was recently updated with a new “Premium” dark mode theme.
  • The new theme is only accessible if you have Amex’s Platinum card, which just had its annual fee increased to $895/year.
  • Where did everything go wrong. Why am I paying for this. How did I get here.

American Express recently overhauled its high-end Platinum credit card, and in the process, it increased the already hefty annual fee from $695 up to an eye-watering $895. American Express justified the higher price with new perks, such as a $400 Resy credit and a $200 Oura Ring credit, but there’s another new feature that topples all of them.

If and only if you have the new $895/year Amex Platinum card — like yours truly does — you’ll now unlock something completely unheard of: a dark mode for Amex’s mobile app.

The American Express app has long offered a dark mode that changes the app’s white background to a dark blue. However, for lucky cardholders of the new Amex Platinum, you now have access to the Premium dark mode, which ditches the dark blue colors for a pitch-black background.

This was initially spotted and shared on Threads, and at first, I thought that it surely had to be a joke. But upon opening the American Express app on my Pixel, I quickly learned that it was not. There on the Home page was a big banner with a celebratory emoji promoting the “new Premium theme.”

And, man — what a theme it is. How did I go so long with the pittiful “Standard” dark mode? Dark blue? No, thank you. My dark mode needs to be pitch black like the Dark Knight himself, and if the price of admission for that is almost $900 per year, so be it. That’s money well spent if you ask me.

On a slightly more serious note, while this is a good-looking dark mode (and the option to have two styles is neat), it is truly absurd that this new dark mode is only available to people who have the Platinum card. American Express has to do what it has to do to stop customers from canceling after their annual fee just got jacked up, and it’s kind of incredible someone thought a slightly different dark theme would help with that.

As one of those people planning to cancel his Platinum card, this may come as a shock that this new dark mode isn’t enough to keep me a paying customer. It’ll be a struggle to live like a peasant and go back to the lowly Standard dark mode, but — one way or another — I’m sure I’ll get through it.

Onigiri Shop Simulator Free Download (v1.0.0) –

Onigiri Shop Simulator Pre-Installed Worldofpcgames

Onigiri Shop Simulator Direct Download:

Monetization using this game is permitted. Welcome to your cozy onigiri (rice ball) shop on a street corner in Japan. From today, you’re running the whole show yourself. Craft the perfect onigiri with fluffy, warm rice and savory fillings, and serve your hungry customers with a smile. Your menu also features delicious side dishes, like crispy croquettes and golden fried fish. With a constant stream of orders, you’ll need to think on your feet and keep your hands moving! You’re not just the owner—you’re the chef and the cashier, too. With limited time and space, your success depends on smart decisions. Which ingredients do you stock up on? What do you cook first? Mastering inventory and perfecting your workflow is the secret to becoming the best onigiri shop in town. Baby Steps

This game was super fun overall! I started the game on the hardest difficulty (Very Hard), since I’m a veteran in sim/time management games. It takes 2 min to accept an order and another 2 min to serve an order, which was sufficient for me to put orders together. Despite these things I mentioned above and in my discussion post, the game really is fun. I was pleasantly surprised with the sufficient challenge and fairness in the hardest difficulty, which can be difficult to balance for other games. I can imagine that the game would be just as (or even more) fun for players in the remaining difficulties.

Features and System Requirements:

  • You have to manage inventory, decide what ingredients to stock, and also decide what to cook first—since space/time are limited.
  • You prepare rice balls and side dishes (like croquettes, fried fish), serve customers, manage orders, and try to optimize your shop’s workflow.
  • There is a “rush” of constant orders, which means timing and efficiency matter.

Forza Horizon 6 devs worked “closely” with a cultural consultant to ensure they were being “authentic and respectful” with the racing game’s Japan setting

Forza Horizon 6 has been revealed, and it’s finally taking racing game fans to Japan – a location that developer Playground Games knows players have been wanting since the start of the series. However, the team wanted to ensure that they were being “authentic and respectful with this location.”

Speaking to GamesRadar+, Playground Games art director Don Arceta acknowledges that the upcoming setting has “been something that the fans have been wishing for, ever since Forza Horizon 1, Forza Horizon 2. It’s been kind of a dream location for a lot of players. And even as developers of the series, it’s been a dream location for us as well.” Needless to say, he adds: “So we’re so excited not only that it’s announced, but that the next game actually is in Japan.”

Microsoft Demonstrates Microfluid Cooling Within Future AI Chips

Microsoft has debuted “microfluidic” cooling, which it suggests could be used to cool future AI chips by allowing some cooling fluid to flow through the chip itself rather than just over the cold plate attached to it. Microsoft claims this form of cooling was three times more effective than standard water cooling using a copper block and could cut GPU temperatures by almost two-thirds.

Traditional processor cooling involves attaching an integrated heat spreader (IHS) to the chip package, then applying some form of thermal interface on top before attaching a cooler built from copper or other highly conductive material. This can be water- or air-cooled, with the former more prevalent in data centers due to its higher cooling capabilities. Microsoft claims microfluidic cooling is far more effective, however, since it removes many of the interval layers and connects the hottest parts of the chip directly with the coolant.

This approach carves tiny channels within the chip itself that allow the coolant to flow through the silicon. All chip layouts are different, so unique coolant channels would need to be carved, but Microsoft claims that this is entirely possible with AI. The results are worth the added effort, the brand claims; per Microsoft, it could revolutionize cooling in data centers, cut down on power and water consumption, and improve processor efficiency.

Although microfluid channels might be expensive or complicated to cut into the chip, they certainly would use less metal than existing copper cold plate designs. The servers would therefore be lighter and smaller, too. This would again increase efficiency, especially for massive data centers and supercomputers with hundreds of thousands of chips.

Questions remain over what kind of coolant would be used. VideoCardz poses the question of what happens if those channels get blocked. Standard watercooling pipes, radiators, and blocks all need cleaning occasionally to remove debris that would inhibit cooling performance.

Still, I want to see this on an RTX GPU. If load temperatures are cut by that much, how fast could it be?

Smartphone maker Nothing to spin off its affordable CMF brand

Hardware startup Nothing said Thursday that it plans to make its affordable device brand, CMF, into an independent subsidiary with India serving as its headquarters for manufacturing and R&D.

The company first launched CMF in 2023 with a pair of earbuds and a smartwatch. Since then, it has introduced smartphones under the brand as well.

Nothing said that it is partnering with Indian ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) Optiemus to create a joint venture for manufacturing. While the startup didn’t reveal the ownership structure of this venture, it said that it aims to invest more than $100 million over the next three years, while creating over 1,800 jobs.

The London-based startup, following its $200 million funding round led by Tiger Global, didn’t say how much money from this round will go into setting up this new venture.

Nothing’s decision to choose India as CMF’s operational headquarters makes sense for a few reasons. CMF’s smartphones have been priced under $200, and that is the dominant category in India, with over 42% of phones shipped in Q2 2025 being in the $100-$200 price range, according to IDC.

India has also been Nothing’s strongest market with over 2% market share in smartphones. IDC told TechCrunch via email that Nothing was the fastest-growing brand in the country in Q2 2025, with 85% growth in shipments year over year.

“India will play a key role in shaping the future of the global smartphone industry. CMF has been well-received by the market since we launched it two years ago. With our end-to-end capabilities, we are uniquely positioned to now build it into India’s first truly global smartphone brand. Our joint venture with Optiemus is a key milestone toward making that vision a reality,” Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei said in a statement.

The company’s move comes after it poached Himanshu Tondon from Xiaomi’s spin-off brand POCO last month to be VP of Business for CMF.

Brand spin-offs have been increasingly common in the last decade, especially for brands based in China. Examples include Xiaomi spinning off POCO, Huawei selling off Honor, and Oppo making Realme a separate company.

Check out the intricate, inky world of PS5 game Chronoscript: The Endless End

One of the surprise announcements during Sony’s State of Play presentation today was the debut of a literary-themed game titled Chronoscript: The Endless End. It’s an action-adventure game with a very cool hand-drawn art aesthetic. Players will navigate the 3-dimensional world of a mysterious manor as well as the 2-dimensional world of illustrated manuscript pages.

The trailer mostly focused on those 2D sections, showing combat and platforming and seriously did I mention the very cool hand-drawn art? I would have been interested in this for the visuals alone, but throw in a story about writers and editors and I’m hooked.

Perhaps fittingly for this writerly endeavor, the game’s publisher is Shueisha, which is a heavyweight in publishing manga, including the popular Shonen Jump. The developer is DeskWorks, and the studio’s also boasted a lovely, illustrative style. We’ll have a little longer to wait before we can dive into the inky world of Chronoscript, however, because this game isn’t expected to arrive on the PlayStation 5 until some time in 2026.

c# – VS Setup Project Change to Non-advertised Shortcut

I have a Visual Studio 2022 installer project I made and it currently has a primary output which creates an advertised shortcut automatically when the project is installed. However, since its advertised, every time the desktop icon (the shortcut) is clicked, it activates the msi to repair itself and then when default files are not found in the config folder, it breaks and does not open. For context, these default files are not needed to start the application so I want to make the shortcut like a regular shortcut you would make directly from you PC which points to the .exe file directly and runs that each time.

Is there a way to disable this from VS?

I tried adding the DISABLEADVTSHORTCUTS in a property {} manually in the .vdproj file with a value of “8:1” and its in the right place but doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve tried to remove the primary output from the file system and add the .exe directly and have a shortcut point to it but even then the same thing happens and the msi is still activated each time.

I tried looking for “add property” and there is nothing like that when I looked through my setup project.
