Chompshop, founded by Kausi Raman and Max Liechty, created the ChompSaw, a kid-safe power tool designed to easily cut cardboard, empowering young makers to explore creativity and STEAM skills. The company began in March 2022 when Kausi prototyped the ChompSaw during her master’s program at UPenn, with Max joining in May to refine the design. Paired with access to Chompshop’s Learning Hub for project ideas and tutorials, the ChompSaw empowers kids to build forts, costumes, and educational dioramas, fostering hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning.

The ChompSaw is perfect for after-school activities, as it encourages kids to unplug from screens and engage in meaningful, creative projects. It’s also a game-changer for enhancing school projects and presentations. The ChompSaw’s safety certifications (ASTM F963, CPSC, CPSIA, and CA Prop 65) provide parents and educators peace of mind, allowing children to work independently with minimal supervision. 5 Real Ways to Add $500/month Steady Income

Whenever I talk to moms, they usually tell me that an extra $500/month steady income would completely change their financial situation forever. That really seems to be the sweet spot for a lot of people.

How about you? How would making an extra $500/month help your financial picture?

  • Would it mean less time away from your kids?
  • More time with family?
  • Would it mean you and your husband wouldn’t fight so much about money?
  • Maybe that’s how much it would take for you to take a desperately-needed vacation?

Regardless of what you need the money for, I’ve helped many women be able to add $500/month and much more to their income long term. My journey to start making money from home started 17 years ago! I definitely feel like I’ve seen it all in that time. As a single mom, I am able to support myself from home and not miss those important moments with my kids…and I don’t want you to either! That’s the whole reason I started this blog!!!

Here are my absolute favorite things I love to tell my friends about when they ask me how to make money from home.

5 Real Ways to Add $500/month Steady Income

1) Become a Virtual Assistant

With all the work that goes into blogging (for me to complete ONE post that you see as complete, it takes me about 3-7 hours from start to finish to promoting). Many bloggers get burned out easily or they are working so much, their families take second priority. They are looking for help. That help comes in the form of a virtual assistant. A virtual assistant (VA) is just that. You assist them virtually, online.

Perhaps they need help with keeping on top of social media. Maybe they need someone to take creative pictures for them of recipes or creating roundup posts where you simply find 20 of the best ____ and create an article out of it. Some bloggers need help sorting through hundreds and hundreds of emails they get PER DAY! You can be sure there are a lot of tasks that you can help with on the side and earn money for your family, all from the comfort of your own home!

If that’s something that interests you, check out my Honest Bloggers Academy course, which includes how to make real money as a virtual assistant. It’ll help you get started the right way into the world of becoming a virtual assistant.

One of the best things you can do right away is to start getting involved on Facebook and look for VA groups. In the VA groups, you can learn a LOT about how everything works and how to get bloggers to pay you. You can learn tasks to do so that you are knowledgeable.

Also, start learning social media ASAP. Take one platform at a time and learn all you can about it so that you are good at it. Most bloggers I talk to, the first thing they need help with is social media. Having these skills already is necessary since most bloggers won’t have time to train the basics. The more you know, the better.

2) Sell on eBay

Last year, I stopped selling on eBay. I couldn’t handle both full time eBay and full time blogging and I had to chose. But even on eBay, I was making more than a full time income selling children’s toys.  This option is a very fast and easy way for beginners to get started on how to make money online, and the more items you have listed, the more of a steady income you can make. When I was selling, I had about 700-1,000 items listed within about 500-600 ads. It’s a lot, but selling duplicate toys is the easiest way to go because you don’t have to take a bunch of pictures for every single item all the time, just once for each ad.

There is a lot of help on how to start up a thriving eBay business here on the site in my eBay section. Pretty soon, I’ll be coming out with a whole program on how you can do it to that will really help! I can’t wait to introduce you to it!

3) Sign up for a direct sales or network marketing company

There are a ton of scams out there in this field, so you definitely want to be careful. In this post here, I talk about the 20 best (scam-free) companies to work for. You can find a representative in the post or you can ask a friend. More often than not, someone you know is already in a fantastic business and can help you get started. All you have to do is ask around!

One of the ways I like to find other women who work in a company is to post a status update on Facebook simply asking my friends. Many people will respond and you can go through and research to find the company that is a good fit for you.

If at all possible, find someone with the best sales record you can. They will be willing to help you and can take you farther in the business than say a friend just starting out. If it were me, I’d go with someone making $5k/month over a friend making $500/month any day, but most people don’t and that’s why they don’t get very far! Be very careful who you sign up under because in most companies, you can’t change that spot and you’re stuck FOR-EVER!

This has been my biggest mistake by far.

In one company I joined under someone I had a gut feeling couldn’t be trusted, and she ended up stealing thousands of dollars from me by some sneaky tactics. I don’t know how she sleeps at night, but it is ultimately between her and God and since I am saved and she most likely isn’t, I get the winning end of the stick. 🙂 The bottom line is, be extremely chosey who you join under.

4) Start a blog

This isn’t for everyone. It takes a LOT of hard work. I’ve worked this blog 80+ hours a week since I started it, but, blogging is THE most funnest job I’ve ever had and I’ve had some pretty impressive banking jobs in my time. It’s so rewarding truly making a difference in people lives, touching their lives and hearts all the way across the globe. If you are willing to put in the work, you can make a good living blogging. Way more than $500/month in the long run (think 6 figures a year), but it does take time to increase income in blogging and not everyone makes that much. It all depends on your blog, your ideas, and ultimately you.

If you think that blogging might be the path for you, here are a couple fantastic articles that can help:

• My step by step VIDEO tutorial for how to start up a blog, so that you are confident in knowing how to do the techy stuff to begin
• 47 Reasons to Start a Blog, to see if it’s right for you
• How to Start a Money Making Blog, a guide to help walk you through some of the big decisions when starting up a blog

In those articles, I give all the information you need to know in order to take that first step, including video’s to help you get started and on your way!

5) Write articles for websites

Writing is another option if you are looking for work from home jobs to earn some extra income.  There are many sites out there that will pay you to write an article for them. Again, being a blogger is hard work. Sometimes a blogger will hire someone to write for them because they need a short break, sometimes it’ll be because they want to offer their readers a unique perspective on something they don’t know about. Sometimes, bloggers who post deals all the time need content to fill in the gaps between the deals. Whatever the reason is, there are many bloggers that are willing to pay you for your words and if you are trained in SEO, you will make the most amount of money.

But be careful….there are a LOT of scams out there wanting to teach you SEO or do it for you and it’s really not that hard at all. They make it more complicated than it has to be and charge thousands of dollars.

I hope this article helps you get started in the right direction. If you still can’t find something that works for you in this list, stay tuned, because I’m about to blow your mind with all the information that will be coming your way toward this Fall. 🙂

Crafting Unforgettable Client Gifts That Stand Out in 2025

Craft Unforgettable Client GiftsCraft Unforgettable Client Gifts

Choosing the perfect gift for a client is rarely straightforward. You want something meaningful, but also practical enough to use.

Personalization and strategy play major roles here. A thoughtful gesture creates stronger bonds that go beyond transactional interactions.

So, if you’re keen to start crafting gifts that truly stand out, stay tuned as we discuss creative strategies, practical insights, and fresh ideas together.

The Role of Personalization in Client Gifting

Generic gifts often get forgotten, while personalized ones leave a lasting impression. Adding personal touches shows effort and care, making clients feel valued.

To personalize your gifts, consider:

  • Engraving their name or company logo on the item.
  • Including a handwritten note expressing gratitude for your collaboration.
  • Tailoring the gift to reflect their interests or hobbies, like gourmet coffee for a known coffee enthusiast.

Personalization makes even common items unique. It’s not about how expensive the gift is, but the thoughtfulness and relevance to them as individuals.

For example, instead of sending identical notebooks to every client, you might choose custom planners aligned with their professional needs or preferences.

If you’re looking for more of a sweet thank-you that’s still bespoke, another option is Purdys custom branded chocolates that can be completely personalized as needed. This is the kind of gift that’s great for individual clients or more general-use purposes like trade shows.

In short, making personalization part of your gifting strategy lets you strengthen connections through meaningful gestures that stand out amidst generic corporate gifting practices.

Aligning Gifts With Your Brand Message

Your gifts should reflect your business’s identity. A thoughtful, well-aligned gift reinforces your values and makes your brand more memorable.

Practical ways to align gifts with branding include:

  • Choosing items that showcase your industry expertise, like tech gadgets for IT clients or design tools for creatives.
  • Selecting packaging in your trusted brand colors to maintain visual consistency.
  • Including subtle branding on the item itself, such as a discreet logo or tagline placement.

Gifting isn’t about overt self-promotion but maintaining a connection between the gesture and your company’s identity.

For instance, an eco-conscious company might send sustainable goods like bamboo desk organizers or reusable water bottles.

Clients notice when there’s cohesion between what they receive and what you represent professionally. It builds trust while ensuring they associate positive experiences with your name long-term.

When to Send Client Gifts for Maximum Impact

The timing of your gift can influence how it’s received, and given that this market niche is worth over $765 billion, you’ll be vying for attention every time. Sending gifts at predictable times, like the holidays, often means competing with many others.

Instead, consider sending them when:

  • Celebrating milestones such as anniversaries or project completions.
  • Welcoming new clients shortly after onboarding to leave a strong first impression.
  • Acknowledging personal events like birthdays, if appropriate and known.

Unexpected timing creates memorable moments that stand out more than seasonal traditions alone. For example, surprising a client with a thoughtful gift mid-year simply to show appreciation signals genuine gratitude without any agenda attached.

Avoid sending gifts when they may seem obligatory. Focusing on thoughtful timing tied directly to shared experiences or achievements lets you demonstrate sincerity in valuing their relationship with your business, strengthening long-term loyalty in return.

Wrapping Up

Choosing unforgettable client gifts is about thoughtfulness, strategy, and authenticity. Prioritize personalization, align with your brand’s values, and choose timing that resonates.

These small yet impactful efforts strengthen relationships and leave lasting impressions. A well-crafted gift is an investment in meaningful connections for the future.

The End of SEO: How AI Is Forcing a New Digital Strategy

How AI Is Forcing a New Digital StrategyHow AI Is Forcing a New Digital Strategy

Wrightstudio | Dreamstime.com

The rollout of Google’s AI search function has led to a significant decline in web traffic, making it even more challenging for businesses to manage their online presence. The rise of large language model AIs is transforming how internet users discover information, forcing organizations to reorient their digital strategy approach towards truly owning their relationships with their customers and visitors.

For decades, organic search has been a somewhat straightforward — albeit constantly evolving — discovery tool: users Google a question, click links, and land on a site. Search engine optimization strategies could improve a website’s ranking in search results, and a wide web funnel helped convert customers.

The rise of LLMs, however, has changed those rules. AI models not only index content but also scrape it, and in doing so, they undermine traditional web traffic and lead generation flows.

It’s a shift that’s sent digital strategists and marketers into a tailspin. Traffic at sites across the web has plummeted, and aside from more lagging indicators, such as sales and conversions, the old metrics are no longer reliable.

However, just because SEO is on its way out, it doesn’t mean that digital strategy is dead. Companies that bury their heads in the sand on this risk losing out on customers at a critical juncture. Without clear insight into AI’s future or its algorithms, organizations need to focus on the things they can control — building a resilient and authoritative web presence that emphasizes customer relationships.

In the AI era, companies must ensure their digital strategy provides answers to three key questions: How does AI perceive this?  Is this measuring what matters? And who owns this audience?

How Does AI See This?

While the number of click-throughs may have dropped, web traffic is still available to be captured. AI is transforming how users access information, but it has not yet assumed the role that most companies and brands play.

Rather than attracting customers at the top of their discovery journey funnel — which is where most SEO strategies are focused, answering the questions that help potential customers make a decision — the rise of AI means that customers are coming to businesses and organizations mid-to-late in the funnel. AI has answered users’ initial curious questions about a given topic (“what is deforestation doing to the Amazon?” or “what does a leaky faucet mean”), but users (and AIs) still need answers to the questions once they’re intrigued or invested (“what can I do to help?” or “who are the best plumbers in my area?”).

While AI may not immediately provide the user with your company’s blog that it scraped to answer the first question, when it comes time to answer the second question, having high-quality, prompt-engineered web content available to drive AI’s answer is key to capturing a ready audience.

Is This Measuring What Matters?

Moving down the funnel means that metrics like impressions, views, or clicks no longer correlate in the same way to business success metrics. Most websites simply won’t be getting those top-of-the-funnel link clicks anymore, meaning digital strategy teams need to be more nuanced in what they’re measuring.

Casting the widest net is no longer the only goal. Less glamorous and more difficult metrics will become the key scales on which businesses measure themselves. CRM growth, conversions, donation activity, newsletter sign-ups, and branded search volume — these metrics will tell a company how they’re actually performing.

Websites will have less volume, but the volume that does come through will, in many ways, be prequalified, meaning conversion rates should increase. It’s not a metric as high as page views, but it’s certainly more critical to business health.

Who Owns This Audience?

In a broader sense, the shift to AI from search presents a more existential issue for websites and an essential reminder for business leaders: don’t rely solely on platforms you don’t control.

As the world of Big Tech has grown larger, companies are increasingly reliant on a handful of companies to connect them with their audiences. However, Big Tech’s relentless push towards AI highlights the danger: at any point, algorithms may shift.

Social media might “shadow-ban” a term, or an AI model might be using content to point users elsewhere. Overnight, a company may become more challenging to locate, and its entire customer base may disappear along with it.

In this Big Tech era — one that may or may not be built on the back of a dead internet — having a genuine relationship with customers that extends beyond social media is everything. Strong email lists or text lists coupled with high-value content are how companies can build a more resilient pathway to customers. If a company can send its latest blog post directly to its customers, it can be more positive that its initiatives and insights are reaching its target audience.

Combined with UTM tracking, subdomains, and even custom URLs for when users share their content, companies have a chance to trace where their real value is coming from, even if it’s from private channels.

AI has already lost businesses thousands of critical relationship-building moments, as they’re cut off from the first interaction with customers. However, ignoring the shift is only going to exacerbate the situation.

Relationships, not impressions, are now the most critical digital asset companies have.

What to Look for in Comfortable Retirement Housing in Chicago

retirement housing in chicagoretirement housing in chicago
Freepik

Choosing the right retirement housing is one of the most important decisions you can make as you plan for the next stage of life. The right place offers more than just a roof over your head—it provides security, community, and peace of mind. In a vibrant city like Chicago, options range widely, so knowing what to prioritize can help make the transition smoother and more confident.

Safety Comes First

For older adults, safety isn’t just about a locked front door. It means well-lit hallways, secure building entries, accessible bathrooms, and grab bars in the right places. Emergency call systems, fire safety protocols, and on-site staff availability all contribute to feeling safe and secure day to day.

While evaluating housing options, take note of how quickly assistance is available if something goes wrong. Security services and fall-prevention measures are essential. These details can help prevent serious injuries and bring peace of mind to both residents and their families.

In the unfortunate event of care facility negligence, it’s crucial to know there are legal avenues to pursue. Those facing serious cases, including loss, may turn to a Chicago nursing home wrongful death lawyer for support and justice.

Comfort Is More Than Just Cozy Furniture

Comfort plays a major role in overall well-being. For some, this means temperature control, quiet surroundings, and enough space to entertain family and friends. For others, it may mean easy access to outdoor areas or calming design features that make the space feel more like home.

Visiting a facility in person can reveal how the environment makes you feel. Is it too sterile or cold? Are there comfortable lounges and inviting common areas? These small elements add up over time and can shape daily experiences.

Location Still Matters

Retirement doesn’t mean cutting ties with the people and places you love. Living close to family, friends, and familiar neighborhoods can ease the transition into a new phase of life. In a large city like Chicago, proximity to healthcare centers, grocery stores, parks, and public transit makes a real difference.

Think about whether the community offers transportation options for residents who no longer drive. Access to daily needs can support independence and reduce stress.

Lifestyle and Community

A good retirement housing option goes beyond meeting physical needs—it also supports your lifestyle. Some people thrive in active communities with classes, events, and group outings. Others prefer quieter, more private surroundings.

During a visit, ask about activity calendars and resident engagement. A warm, welcoming community can help reduce feelings of isolation and improve emotional health. In fact, having structured support systems and options can make a notable difference in the aging experience. For those with memory challenges, tailored care options for Alzheimer’s or cognitive support programs can also be critical.

Services and Amenities That Make Life Easier

Retirement housing can include everything from housekeeping and laundry to meal prep and concierge services. Having these supports in place means you can spend more time doing what you enjoy.

Be sure to understand what services are included in the base cost and which ones are optional add-ons. Ask about staff-to-resident ratios and how quickly requests are handled. Well-organized services can transform daily life from stressful to seamless.

Healthcare Access and Wellness Support

Health becomes more important with age, and the best retirement communities plan for it. On-site clinics, visiting nurses, medication management, and transportation to medical appointments are common offerings in high-quality housing.

Equally important are fitness classes, walking paths, and wellness programming. A facility that promotes healthy living helps residents stay independent longer and reduces emergency health events.

Budgeting for the Right Fit

Cost is always a factor. Prices can vary based on neighborhood, square footage, services, and level of care. It’s important to be clear about your budget and understand all fees—monthly and otherwise.

Some communities offer tiered pricing depending on your needs, while others charge a flat rate. Financial clarity up front helps avoid surprises down the road.

Use checklists and comparison tools to help organize your research. That way, you can make sure you’re not overlooking hidden costs or important services.

Touring Retirement Housing Facilities: What to Ask

When touring potential retirement homes, go prepared with questions. Ask about staff turnover, resident satisfaction, waiting lists, and emergency procedures. Sit in on an activity, try a meal, or speak to current residents if possible.

Look at online reviews, but also trust your instincts. If a place feels off, it might not be the right fit. If it feels calm, welcoming, and secure, it could be worth a second visit.

Balancing Needs and Preferences

here’s no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to retirement housing. The right fit will balance your personal preferences with safety, care access, and affordability. Some people prioritize being close to grandchildren, while others want a maintenance-free lifestyle. If your decision involves supporting older family members through this transition, consider what resources and services will ease the process for everyone involved.

Knowing what matters most to you—whether that’s spacious living, pet-friendly policies, or spiritual services—will help narrow the choices. Writing these down can help keep your search on track.

Making the Transition Smoother

Once a decision is made, plan your move with care. Give yourself time to adjust and lean on family or friends during the early stages. Downsizing, organizing, and settling into a new routine can feel overwhelming—but also freeing.

The good news is that many people who make the move report improved well-being, more social interaction, and a greater sense of security. The key is thoughtful preparation and realistic expectations.

As you weigh your options, you’ll discover that comfort and safety go hand in hand. A well-chosen retirement community in Chicago can offer both—and set the stage for a fulfilling next chapter.

DIY Bath Fizzy Bombs – Sarah Titus

Who doesn’t like bath fizzy bombs? I know my kids go crazy over these things. But you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to enjoy them at home. You can easily make these DIY bath fizzy bombs yourself!

Want 50+ more essential oil recipes? Click here to go to the post that has them all!

DIY Bath Fizzy Bombs

What is a bath bomb?

When I first heard the term “bath bomb”, I honestly didn’t want anything to do with it. I was thinking, why in the WORLD would I want to bomb my bathtub. lol. The name of the product is a bit misleading. It’s not a bomb at all. In fact, there’s no explosion (you can feel safe about that). 🙂 It’s basically a ball that fizzes and makes cool bubbles when you put it in the water.

The problem:

The problem is that when you buy these cool gems in the store, not only are they expensive, but they also are chalk full of nasty chemicals. It only takes an ingredient 30 seconds to absorb into your skin, so you’re literally putting a bunch of toxins in your entire system. No bueno!

The much better solution is to make your own all natural DIY bath bombs set.  This way you CONTROL what you’re putting into your body. PLUS, it’s a really fun thing to do with kids, you can even call it a “science experiment”. Score for homeschoolers! 🙂

Secondly, sometimes the bath fizz bombs have been sitting in stores for a long, long time and so they don’t smell as good as they could. When you make your own, you can add more essential oils (or even a little vanilla) and make the scent as strong as you want.

Third, the ones in the stores often turn the water a color. While that’s “cool”, again…it’s chemicals. I try really hard to watch the chemicals in my environment. At one point, I got so sick from chemicals overload (happens over time; you don’t even notice it), that I ended up in a wheelchair a couple years back because I started fainting.

That was the time I started taking my health seriously. I’m not saying using store bought bath bombs will put you in a wheelchair, but I AM saying, chemicals are super bad for us and it’s SO SO easy to make your own stuff, so why not?! 🙂

If that sounds good to you and you want to make your own, here’s my favorite go-to recipe for the best diy bath bombs!

Ingredients:

*Makes 3 cups.

My newer batches, I add a little vanilla extract in the bath bombs recipe too (couple drops), usually with Wild Orange or Citrus Bliss (Citrus Burst is also good) essential oil. Vanilla and orange smell SOOOO good together!

My favorite company to get household cleaners, soaps, and all things natural and healthy: Grove Collaborative. Have you heard of them? They are AWE-some! If you click here, you can get a FREE $10 credit when you check out. I personally set them to auto-ship and love that I never have to worry about running out of my favorite products. Plus, they are always adding inventory each month, so it’s really FUN to go in and see what they have. This month, I put Bobble water bottles for my family on my order. I can’t WAIT to get them! They are going to save me SO much money because I do buy bottled water! With these, I won’t have to!

Step-by-Step Directions:

Step 1: Put the oil, citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch, and essential oil(s) in a glass or porcelain bowl. For relaxation, try relaxing oils like Lavender. For a mood pick-me-up, try a citrus essential oil. The possibilities are endless!

Step 2: Mix well with your hands until a soft dough is formed. It should feel like damp sand. You could add herbs, flowers, or food coloring as well.

Tip: if the mixture is a little too wet, you can try adding a little more baking soda and cornstarch until the consistency is correct.

Step 3: Put the mixture in a bath bomb or silicone mold or wrap into a ball shape in Saran wrap and let it sit for 24 hours before removing from mold.

These would also make a fun gift!

If you want to make them more of a round shape, you’ll need a special tool for that (you can get it here on Amazon). Just put the mixture in each section,  flatten with a butter knife or spatula, then press the two pieces together.

They come out looking like this:

5 Home Renovations That Add Value to Your Home

Home Renovations That Add Value to Your HomeHome Renovations That Add Value to Your Home

Where First Impressions Begin: The Front Door

A new front door is often the first thing a buyer sees. Data from the 2025 Remodeling Impact Report shows steel front door replacements deliver full recovery of what you spend. Nationally, the price for a new steel front door ranges from $2,300 to $3,400, while fiberglass models can be a bit higher. Fresh doors help homes attract more buyer interest and tend to be a factor in how fast a home sells. Energy-efficient and insulated options, often with smart locks, are gaining traction in most markets. Matching the new door’s look to your home’s design supports both function and buyer appeal.

Fixing the Heart of the Home: Kitchen Upgrades

Minor or major kitchen work keeps drawing attention from buyers, with a 60 percent average cost recovery for these projects. The costs vary. Small updates start at about $15,000, and a full renovations can rise above $100,000. The highest homeowner satisfaction, with a perfect Joy Score, comes from kitchen improvements, according to the report. Buyers are asking for open layouts, up-to-date appliances, quartz countertops, and dedicated storage spaces more often than before.

In urban areas, a kitchen fit for entertaining can bump up sale prices. In other locations, layouts and flow are key. According to one agent, buyers may see kitchens as a make-or-break point when making offers.

The Bathroom Factor: Design Meets Use

Bathrooms are upgraded for both use and property value. Most midrange projects recoup about half of their cost at sale, while larger bathroom additions may recover slightly more. Remodels cost between $25,000 and $40,000 for standard changes, and those with spa features and high-tech updates push costs higher. Homeowners are selecting walk-in showers, soaking tubs, and water-saving fixtures more than before.

In places with colder weather, adding things like heated floors draws buyer interest. Younger buyers are also starting to look for efficiency and smart features. Projects that blend new fixture designs with comfort attract more interest during showings.

Roof Work: Protecting and Improving

Roof replacements or renovations are among the projects where spending can match or nearly match resale returns. The 2025 report says new roofs yield full cost recovery in some areas, with most regions seeing at least 60 percent of the expense recovered. Basic asphalt work in most states comes in at $21,000, but roofs using metal or newer “eco” materials can exceed $50,000.

A roof in great shape can reassure buyers. Many agents note that homes with newer roofs spend less time on the market, a trend even stronger in places facing harsh weather. Owners are looking at solar features and advanced cooling in regions where those offer savings or comfort.

Efficiency Upgrades: Systems That Matter

Energy-saving updates touch on windows, heating, cooling, and insulation. Replacing vinyl windows alone returns about three-fourths of the cost. Wood windows are close, at a 71 percent recovery rate. A new HVAC system costs between $6,000 and $15,000. Window projects start near $12,000 and can go much higher. Proper insulation throughout a home usually comes in under $10,000.

Where winters are cold or summers are hot, buyers ask more about up-to-date energy systems. In sun-heavy states, solar and advanced cooling are more valued than ever. Even for buyers not focused on saving power, homes with smart thermostats and app-managed systems attract attention. Nearly half of buyers in 2025 refuse to buy if heating, cooling, or insulation are not up to standard.

Data-Driven Home Value Insights from Resale Sites

Homeowners who want to confirm which renovations pay off can consult public data from more than one source. Home improvement returns often show similar patterns on real estate sites like Wahi, which use sales data to report on value boosts tied to kitchen remodels or new roofing. Looking beyond these, checking a real estate platform can reveal price changes in zip codes where energy-efficient renovations are becoming more common.

Comparing results across public databases, plus national reports, helps buyers see where the resale market rewards specific upgrades. Consistent findings build trust in the numbers.

What Buyers are Asking For

Homes in better condition get more interest. Most buyers expect curb appeal, so homes with new siding, trimmed landscaping, or a fresh door bring more people to showings. Many buyers are now putting daily comfort and ease first, which projects with high Joy Scores reflect.

Tech tools are moving into homes of all price points, especially for security and efficiency. Package delivery, smart control over climate settings, and built-in lighting control are gaining ground. In some areas, a lack of these features might even reduce buyer offers.

Simple Steps for Homeowners

Pick updates that balance day-to-day convenience with cost recovery. Think about what buyers in your area are searching for, and talk to local real estate experts before starting work. Condition matters. Most buyers this year expect big-ticket systems to be new or recently updated.

Maintenance is not optional for those planning to sell. Small flaws signal future repairs, raising red flags for buyers who value move-in ready spaces. Plans that marry utility, comfort, and return on spending tend to do well with both sellers and buyers.

Jessica Lautz, from the National Association of Realtors, sums up a common view: personal taste drives joy for owners, but agents steer clients towards the projects that bring the greatest resale value. The goal is to find improvements that bring daily satisfaction and measurable value.

The numbers, advice, and findings above pull straight from the newest Remodeling Impact Report and matched industry data. This makes it easier for homeowners to plan renovations based on where they’ll see happy returns and lasting usefulness.

Create Your Freelance LinkedIn Marketing Strategy: 10 Tips

With the right LinkedIn marketing strategy, freelancers can get noticed, attract leads and grow faster without sounding pushy or fake.

The best part? LinkedIn isn’t limited to those seeking full-time jobs anymore. For writers and creative freelancers, this is one of the best places to grow a personal brand, connect with like-minded colleagues and land new clients.

LinkedIn has over 1 billion members from all corners of the world. This means there’s huge potential to reach your target audience, share valuable insights, build real business relationships and find freelance writing jobs.

It’s not about selling hard, it’s about showcasing your skill, offering value and building trust through content and thoughtful interaction.

What is LinkedIn marketing?

Simply put, LinkedIn marketing is a strategy that helps freelancers grow by using the social platform to gain visibility. Think of it as a way to reach the right audience, share valuable content, boost your personal brand and conduct real conversations.

LinkedIn offers tools for lead generation and content sharing. With features like analytics, campaign manager, LinkedIn advertising and sponsored content, freelancers can sharpen marketing goals, test ideas and reach more prospects.

Many people bypass LinkedIn in favor of platforms like Instagram or X (Twitter), but that’s a missed opportunity. With its unique targeting and focus on business connections, this can be a gold mine for connecting with the right audience.

In fact, many marketers choose LinkedIn over other social platforms for lead generation. It works well for those who want to build real connections, join specific industry groups and create a strategy that supports long-term growth.

Whether you’re building a marketing LinkedIn profile or trying to drive website visitors, this platform gives you space to show skill, connect with professionals, and build strong relationships.

10 steps for a successful LinkedIn marketing strategy for freelancers

Having a LinkedIn profile alone won’t do much. What matters is how it’s used. With the right approach, freelancers, including writers, can use the platform to find freelance writing jobs, research clients, grow their online presence, and generate leads without spending hours each day.

Here’s a step-by-step way to do it right:

1. Optimize your profile

First things first, update your LinkedIn profile. Think of it as your digital storefront and one of the first things prospects see. A few optimizations can help you show up in search results, stand out in your niche and support your LinkedIn marketing efforts.

Start here:

  • Use a clear, high-quality photo that looks professional and fits your brand. Keep visibility set to public so profile visitors don’t miss it
  • Create a strong professional headline for freelancer work. Include terms clients might search, such as freelance writer, marketing freelancer or B2B content creator
  • Add a short, niche-specific summary under your name. Use this space to highlight a job title that makes sense to your prospect, the problems you solve and why they should choose you
  • Check your privacy and SEO settings. Make sure your profile shows up on search engines. That helps more people find you, even outside the social platform
  • List all freelance projects that fit your goals. Your goal is to show your range, skills and experience. If a brand or client checks your profile, real examples help build trust

This step sets the base for the rest of your LinkedIn strategy. The stronger your profile looks, the better your chances of turning views into conversations and conversations into new work.

2. Use LinkedIn endorsements and recommendations

An easy way to increase your brand equity on LinkedIn is through endorsements and recommendations. Both help demonstrate how the work you do delivers value and deeper understanding of why you’re the right person for the job.

Endorsements

Endorsements allow others to vouch for specific skills you have, such as content strategy, marketing or lead generation. These show up on your profile and help prospects understand what you offer without needing to scroll too far. Endorsing others is also a smart move. It keeps you active on their radar and strengthens your LinkedIn relationships.

Recommendations

Recommendations go a step further. They work like quick reviews, written by people you’ve worked with, like clients, partners, or teammates. A thoughtful note from a happy client gives your profile a personal touch and supports your lead generation strategy. That kind of social proof can help you stand out from other freelancers in your niche.

Here’s how to make the most of this feature:

  • Reach out to clients after a successful project and ask for a short LinkedIn recommendation. If they’ve already praised your work in messages or emails, it’s a natural next step
  • Make a habit of writing recommendations for others, especially people you’ve worked closely with. This builds goodwill and makes it easier to request a recommendation later
  • Endorse your contacts for skills that match what they do best. It’s easy to do and is something they’ll appreciate

Over time, these small actions strengthen your profile and show new visitors that you’re active and trusted.

3. Post various types of niche-focused content regularly

Writing LinkedIn posts can help freelancers create a professional brand and boost their online presence in the feeds of prospects. Sharing the right mix of content supports a strong LinkedIn marketing strategy, one that drives engagement and builds trust.

Try these content ideas:

  • Share links to your articles, guest posts or other pieces to show your experience and expertise
  • Use LinkedIn’s publishing tools to create short, valuable LinkedIn posts that speak directly to your target audience
  • Repurpose blog posts or longer content into quick LinkedIn updates, like pulling a key quote or insight
  • Share relevant third-party articles or videos that your LinkedIn audience will find useful
  • Mix in video and image posts, such as how-to tutorials, interviews or infographics with data your audience will appreciate
  • Data-backed content gets more attention. Use stats, surveys, or study results to create eye-catching visuals or carousel ads that boost engagement

Bonus tips:

  • Timing matters. Posting on weekdays, especially Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4pm, Wednesdays at 2pm and Fridays at 1pm, can help reach more users when they’re active
  • Vary post length. Short punchy updates grab attention, while longer posts can position you as a thought leader by sharing deeper insights
  • Link to external articles. LinkedIn’s algorithm supports sharing links to external blogs and websites. Posting useful content from others (and tagging them!) can extend your reach and tap into new audiences
  • Use hashtags. Maybe hashtags are over on some platforms, but on LinkedIn you can use three to five hashtags to increase your visibility. Mix popular and niche hashtags to reach your ideal industries. You can even create your own branded hashtag series to boost brand awareness if it makes sense

Creating content is just the start. Posting content that provides value will ultimately build your brand.

4. Engage with others—individuals and companies

Networking on LinkedIn means more than just adding connections. It requires interaction. Engaging with posts, articles and leaving comments helps build your online presence and helps you develop name recognition.

Check your notifications

LinkedIn sends notifications when someone in your network posts or reacts to content. These alerts are a great starting point for making connections, especially since they often include posts outside your immediate network

Engagement doesn’t have to be complicated

A simple like or share keeps your profile active and visible to others. When you want to add to the conversation, leave thoughtful comments on posts in your feed. Reposting with a few added thoughts doesn’t hurt either

Focus on the content your ideal clients share

Read their articles and announcements, then join in the discussion with meaningful comments or questions. This approach helps build mutually beneficial relationships, increases your visibility and positions you as a collaborative and creative LinkedIn freelancer.

For example, a question on a post might attract responses or connection requests, showing how genuine engagement can help you grow your business.

5. Join relevant LinkedIn Groups

LinkedIn Groups bring together like-minded professionals around a specific industry or topic. For freelancers, joining the right groups means more networking opportunities, better brand recognition and chances to share your thoughts with your target audience.

Look for active groups with discussions that match your interests or future career goals.

To make the most of LinkedIn Groups:

  • Start meaningful conversations by posting questions or sharing helpful articles and resources
  • Share your expertise and insights to show thought leadership and support fellow professionals
  • Engage with members, connect with promising prospects and keep up with posts to build stronger relationships
  • Create a group around your specialty to boost your brand and engage prospects

Joining and actively participating in LinkedIn groups is a powerful way to expand your network. It brings you closer to industry leaders and prospective clients, helping you increase your company’s reach and grow your freelance business.

6. Connect with other professionals and potential clients

Treat LinkedIn marketing like a daily appointment. Just 30 minutes of focused time can lead to strong connections and qualified leads over time. Focus on quality, not quantity, when building your network.

  • Start by connecting with people you already know, like friends and former coworkers. Expand from there. LinkedIn suggests connections based on your job title, location and industry, making it easier to connect with the right people
  • Always include a personalized message with your connection requests. Use those 300 characters wisely to introduce yourself and make a positive impression
  • Follow company pages in your niche and engage with their posts. Also, follow industry leaders and influencers who can help you connect with the right audience
  • Use LinkedIn to research leads. Companies often share news like job openings, mergers or branding updates. Look for businesses with at least 50 employees—smaller companies without a digital presence might not be ready to bring on a freelancer
  • Use LinkedIn’s search filters to find connections: Search > People > All Filters > Industries > Title. Look for roles like Marketing Director or Creative Director if you write marketing content
  • Check if you share mutual connections, such as alumni from your school, former colleagues or Group members. These links can open doors for introductions
  • Pay attention to LinkedIn job postings for writing opportunities. Some companies might prefer hiring freelancers instead of full-time writers. Reach out to explore these opportunities when you see them
  • Keep your direct messages polite and personable. Make your purpose clear, offer value and avoid generic sales pitches. Direct messages give you a personal, one-on-one way to strengthen relationships, nurture leads and grow your brand. Consistently sending well-crafted messages shows you’re a person worth staying connected with

7. Share LinkedIn updates on other social media platforms

Cross-posting your social media content helps increase your connections and engagement across the Internet. Since most people are only active on a few platforms, sharing your LinkedIn updates in other places gives your content a boost.

Another idea is to add your X (Twitter) or Instagram handle to your LinkedIn profile. This makes sharing easier and allows you to connect with your LinkedIn audience elsewhere. If a multi-platform approach supports your overall marketing strategy then it’s a worthwhile investment.

8. Consider creating a LinkedIn Page

If your goal is to scale your freelance business or brand, setting up a LinkedIn Page can help.

Personal profiles focus on building connections and private messages. LinkedIn Pages are for businesses and allow people to follow you without requesting a connection first. This helps your content reach more people and increases your company’s brand awareness.

LinkedIn Pages and profiles work together in your LinkedIn marketing strategy, but they have different purposes. Pages are public and good for sharing updates, running LinkedIn ads and reaching a wider audience. Profiles focus on personal networking, direct messages and building your professional brand as a freelancer.

By linking your personal profile to your LinkedIn Page, such as listing your business as your employer, you create a holistic marketing ecosystem.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to LinkedIn pages: Click “Work” on LinkedIn’s top menu, then scroll down to “Create a Company Page.” You’ll need a company name and business email. Once created, you become the admin and can assign others as admins later
  2. Choose your business category: Options include small business (under 200 employees), medium to large business (200+ employees), educational institutions or Showcase Pages (subpages for specific campaigns)
  3. Fill out page details: Provide your business name, public URL, website link, company size and legal entity type. This info helps with brand recognition and lead generation by making your Page easy to find and understand
  4. Add company logo and tagline: These are key brand elements that make your Page memorable and recognizable. Think of logos like the golden arches for McDonald’s and taglines that capture your brand’s essence
  5. Complete business information: Include your company description, location, branded hashtags and a cover photo. Adding call-to-action buttons like “Visit Website” or “Contact Us” encourages further engagement

Boost your reach with LinkedIn ads

LinkedIn advertising offers direct ways to target and reach your ideal audience beyond your network. Use the Campaign Manager to create ad campaigns with specific marketing goals like lead generation or brand awareness.

LinkedIn ad types include:

  • Sponsored content (promoted posts)
  • Message ads (direct messages to prospects)
  • Text ads (small ads on the sidebar)
  • Dynamic ads (personalized ads for users)

Using LinkedIn ads supports your goal of generating qualified leads and growing your business.

Amplify your LinkedIn content with boosting

Boosting helps you promote valuable posts like thought leadership content, product launches or customer spotlights to a wider audience. Boosted posts can drive website visits, increase video views or add engagement to a post, making your LinkedIn marketing efforts more effective.

Expand with Showcase Pages

Showcase Pages are subpages linked to your main business Page. Use them to highlight specific projects, products or campaigns. They help you target specific niches within your audience and can help you attract new followers outside your immediate network.

Creating and managing a LinkedIn Page alongside your personal profile provides a powerful marketing combo. It helps you build brand awareness, supports your social media marketing efforts and drives leads.

Keep track of progress

One of LinkedIn’s unique features is showing who viewed your profile. Use this information to learn more about your network and see who is interested in you or what you’re doing.

To check, click the “Me” icon on the LinkedIn homepage, then “View Profile,” and select “Who Viewed Your Profile” in your dashboard.

For LinkedIn Pages, dive into analytics to measure your marketing efforts. LinkedIn provides detailed reports showing visitors, followers and engagement metrics. If you run LinkedIn ads, you can track clicks, impressions and social actions to see what’s working and what isn’t.

Set your key performance indicators (KPIs) ahead of time, such as website visitors, lead generation or brand awareness, so you have a benchmark for success. Tracking these numbers helps you improve your LinkedIn marketing and grow your freelance business more efficiently.

9. Use a social media marketing tool

The right tools can make a big difference in your LinkedIn marketing strategy.

As a freelancer, managing your time well while still engaging with the right audience is important, which is where social media marketing tools come in.

At the very least, you’ll want a tool that helps schedule and publish your LinkedIn posts. This keeps your content plan on track without needing to live post at the right time every day. A good tool should also provide analytics to help you measure performance, track engagement and help you improve your content and posting strategy over time.

Another helpful feature of social media schedulers is centralized messaging. Some tools organize your inbox so you can respond to messages across platforms without missing leads or potential networking opportunities.

10. Use LinkedIn’s “Open to” feature

An interesting way to attract potential clients and additional freelance work is by turning on LinkedIn’s “Open to” feature. This tool makes your profile easier to discover and helps you show up in LinkedIn Search, which is a big plus for freelancers focused on prospecting.

To use this feature, navigate to your LinkedIn profile, tap the “Open to” button under your job title and choose what fits:

  • Finding a new job: This adds a frame to your profile picture saying “Open to work,” which signals that you’re available for new projects
  • Hiring: This lets others know you’re looking for talent, which is helpful if you manage teams or outsource work to subcontractors

This feature boosts your visibility in search engines and inside LinkedIn itself, so people looking for your services can find you faster. It’s also a quick way to open the door to new networking opportunities without having to message anyone first.
