Sony is preparing to launch its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, in Japan on May 13, 2025. The new device follows the Xperia 1 VI and is said to have a refined design that is slightly shorter, wider, and thicker than its predecessor, as reported by NotebookCheck.
The Xperia 1 VII is said to have a 6.5-inch display, likely with a 1,080 by 2,340 display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with 12GB of RAM and will run Android 15 out of the box.
The battery is expected to be 5,000mAh, with 30W wired and 15W wireless charging. Sony is also adding new camera technology from its Alpha series, with rumors saying the phone will have a 48MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto camera with a 70-200mm focal length, and a 12MP front camera. The device will also keep the headphone jack.
The Xperia 1 VII will be available in Japan immediately after the launch event. For international customers, the phone is likely to arrive in Europe and the UK in July 2025. There is no information about a US release, and Sony’s US channels have not mentioned the device.
