The first trailer for shock horror auteur Eli Roth’s new gruesome thriller has arrived, and it lives up to Roth’s promises that he wants to outdo even the most hardcore of his previous films. Roth previously revealed that the movie involves a horde of kids on a brutal rampage, and, well, yeah, that’s exactly what the trailer delivers.

Judging by that trailer, Ice Cream Man looks a lot like the last 10 minutes of Zach Cregger’s sublime Weapons, with children literally ripping and tearing into adults. It all seems to come down to a creepy ice cream man plying the kids of Bayleen Bay with bizarre, slimy treats that turn them into hardened killers when the ice cream man broadcasts a signal from his truck.

Here’s the official logline: “An idyllic summer town descends into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results.”
“I filmed with a hundred kids going completely nuts with like axes and tools, and the kids just kill all the adults, but then they’re playing jump rope with the guts and tetherball with a head,” Roth previously said. “I mean, it’s totally insane. And I filmed with kids during the summer, and it was one of the funniest, most nuts, the kids were, it was like Christmas morning.”
I’m the kind of horror fan who watches Re-Animator while eating breakfast, so I’m totally here for Looney Tunes style violence, which is exactly what Ice Cream Man looks like.

Booking.com confirmed Monday that hackers may have accessed customers’ personal data, including names, emails, physical addresses, phone numbers, and booking details. The global travel and hotel reservation giant notified customers this past week of the breach, according to several online posts.
“We’re writing to inform you that unauthorized third parties may have been able to access certain booking information associated with your reservation,” read the notificaiton to customers, according to one user’s post on Reddit. Several other Reddit users replying to the post said they received the same notification. The message from the company included the aforementioned types of compromised data, as well as “anything that you may have shared with the accommodation.”
The user who posted the notification on Reddit told TechCrunch that they received a phishing message via WhatsApp two weeks ago that included “booking details and personal information.” That suggests hackers are leveraging the stolen information to target Booking.com customers.
Booking.com spokesperson Courtney Camp told TechCrunch that the company “noticed some suspicious activity involving unauthorized third parties being able to access some of our guests’ booking information. Upon discovering the activity, we took action to contain the issue. We have updated the PIN number for these reservations and informed our guests.”
The spokesperson declined to answer TechCrunch’s specific questions, including how many customers were affected by this incident and then notified.
The company told The Guardian that “financial information was not accessed”.
In 2024, TechCrunch reported that hackers had infected several hotels’ computers with consumer-grade spyware, or stalkerware. In one case, a victim was logged into their Booking.com administration portal when the PcTattleTale stalkerware took a screenshot of their screen.

Apple just dropped its latest MacBook Air last month, featuring an upgraded processor and a new wireless chip. It’s technically already $100 cheaper than its predecessor with the same storage capacity, but this discount saves you an extra $150 on top of that. Now $949 for the base model, it’s down to its lowest price since launch, inching it into more budget-friendly territory.
Besides the speedier processor and the N1 wireless chip, which brings support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6, it’s kind of a boring upgrade. It still features the same 60Hz Liquid Retina display, 18-hour battery life, 12MP Center Stage webcam, and dual Thunderbolt 4 ports. Thus, it’s not an essential upgrade unless you’re rocking a MacBook that’s a few generations outdated.

The M4 iPad Air arrived last month alongside a slew of new Apple products and it’s quite the powerhouse. Mashable’s tech editor took it for a test drive and writes, “It delivers iterative updates that improve an already stellar tablet,” adding that it’s almost too impressive for the average user. Still, we think it’s the best iPad for most people. Every iteration of the 11-inch and 13-inch model is on sale, but we highlighted the 256GB 11-inch model, as it saves you $12.50 more than the base storage option.
Today we share how the future of 3D rendering services in architecture is influenced by mobile technology. It seems like it was just yesterday that architects were lugging around enormous spools of paper clutched under their arms, some sort of gallant medieval scriveners who had wandered into the wrong century. But these same architects today stroll into meetings with hardly anything at all but a smartphone, and this attitude of bemused confidence that all the sketches and illustrations they might possibly want access to are right there with them.
The future is here, and it apparently brought with it a convenient surprise: a plug. It should be a virtual certainty that mobile technologies have entered architectural visualization, given that they seem to have their hands in all but every area of life. What would be mind-blowing is realizing exactly how scale changes have been introduced in 3D architectural visualization. A task that would have taken an entire week on a serious workstation would now be done on something that weighs less than a sandwich.
Computer tablets and smartphones: suddenly causing giants to shake
It wouldn’t have been very long ago that you raised an eyebrow at someone who suggested they wanted an architectural renderer on a phone. It would have been laughable. And yet we are caught up within a world that regards smartphone processors as if they were guys who pump iron at night while the rest of us are still asleep. Apart from these highly efficient chipsets, it should be noted that most capabilities offered in software and running on mid-range laptops would be processed on smartphones and tablets.
It would have been known that graphics processing units have emerged as highly efficient because it would have been heard that these portable devices are capable of real-time graphics processing. Its efficiency establishes a platform for the next generation, for which 3D visualization services will be carried out in line with its capabilities. Where architects can at last open an actual 3D file on a tablet and, with a flick of their fingers, turn it, and then concentrate on kitchen island designs and say, “And would you like marble or stone?”-all from sitting at a coffee shop.
A 3D file based on no heavy machinery and no towering computers on the desk, but on sleek plastic or aluminum and an excellent Wi-Fi signal. Despite appearances suggesting there will never be an end to the power a mobile device consumes, there will be an ever-decreasing gap compared with desktop rendering. Soon, aside from the desktop being slightly heavier, there will be no difference at all.
Also, it was a scene that would have been a challenge even for large data centers at that period. Again, at present and on a tablet, ‘real-time shadows, reflections, and textures would be no more complex an operation than checking the weather. Architectural designers would be able to project their designs in AR, full-scale and almost life-size, with designs previously unimaginable. They would not have to stand there watching a static picture, then try to imagine what it would be like with the sun streaming into the lobby at noon.
Architects would be able to walk them through a virtual living room with actions intuitive to them. Collaboration on architectures implies a paradigm shift driven by mobility. It enables dynamic communications and fun. When your client asks, “Can we move that wall three feet to the left?” and you turn your building model with your hands and then with your finger, it becomes a magical scene.
Augmented reality and the pocket-size visualization era
There are very few technologies that have entered the world of architectural practice with as much flash as augmented reality. Whether you have ever thought about dropping an entire 3D structure onto the very land you are standing on, trust and believe it will be your BFF. The architect and customer might walk about with a phone open, some sort of window into the world that they absolutely need. Unveil some structure seamlessly integrated into the world. The whole thing might be contained within some grassy knoll. Interior designers might create interiors of business offices within these raw concrete boxes.
Your tablet would be your gateway and promise of the world before anything begins. The convenience factor alone is literally out of this world. A user can create designs on the spot and achieve an exact look and feel in an actual space. Going back and forth to an office or finding an office within an office on a desktop would soon be but a distant memory.
The world of architecture would literally fit inside a screen. But AR is more than just a cool party trick-impossibly more- and perhaps the most useful tool working within the world of visual design to solve problems quicker, get ideas cheaper, and achieve an interest from a client that no traditional drawing ever could.
Cloud rendering: the unseen partner for success with smartphones
It cannot be a shortage of their capability, because all they need is a helping hand as they embark on a journey that has involved some heavy lifting, and that is what Cloud Rendering and its superhero cape are all about. It will be cloud rendering if heavy 3D processing work is done at a distant location on groups of processing centers. The device that goes into an architect’s toolkit isn’t exactly muscle but a portal. A low-end tablet will be able to display detailed images as soon as it connects to the cloud.
Through this, mobile phones will be capable of operating at very high speeds, just like an architect who would request rendering to the cloud and then have a chance to have a cup of coffee. By then, he would be able to see the result on his phone. By this, cloud rendering will finally allow architects to work on designs at any given time and from any location imaginable – on an airplane, on a train, in a waiting room with people all around, and on a balcony with a questionable railing – as soon as internet connectivity is available, architects can choose cloud.
And all these put together – mobile technologies with cloud rendering – enable a world without constraints based on location and device, and all these alternatives encourage architects to redesign and make designs that have never been conceptualized before.
Collaboration methods are more agile
Among the greatest pleasures of the current architectural work made possible by mobile technologies: no more uncomfortable scheduling. Those days are gone when one had to wait for everyone to return to their desks or workstations before collaborating. Collaboration on mobile applications is therefore immediate. Perhaps someone is working on textures as a rendering artist from the comfort of his couch. Perhaps someone is looking at models as a project manager on his daily commute.
Perhaps someone is pointing out changes waiting in a supermarket line as an architect, all while perhaps resisting the temptation to compare said supermarket produce layout with said poorly optimized hallway layout. It is here that they begin using collaboration tools, working with feedback, making several graphical changes, and watching things occur. It becomes so efficient that it picks up speed beyond surprise. The clients are more involved, thereby more confident.
Prioritize database integrity over faster data extraction
It would not be remarkable without mobile visualization that several clients walked into a consultation confused about plans and diagrams. It would not be easy for everyone to abstract the structure. It would be much easier with mobile visualization, and architectural drafting experts could intuitively lead them through the designs, with the possibility to fly into a room and even view alternative solutions. The participative method accompanying the above activity fosters a sense of empowerment among the clients. It impacts their trust in the design process.
Misconceptions among them start getting removed. It adds a degree of fun amid highly technical discussions. Perhaps the greatest compliment an architect receives from his clients is something like ‘I finally know what you mean!’ as they have tried to make them understand something, and it all makes sense in the client’s mind. Once he understands exactly what he is talking about, he becomes even more confident in making decisions that will carry the projects forward without any hurdles. Moreover, given that it speaks so eloquently to the freedom in design, there would also be an implication for extending that freedom.
Ironically, creativity will occur at random times around the week, maybe at dinner or while drifting off to sleep thinking about closing the gate. With mobile rendering, architectural drafting professionals not only have access but also an opportunity to put these ideas on paper at the source. It would be feasible to begin conceptualizing on a tablet and then, at a later stage, develop it on a render application with changes before running out of ideas. Use concepts involving shapes, colors, and arrangements that could be experimented with.
The world is gradually abandoning this notion of creative exploration and adopting fixed creative exploration. Many tools exist on mobile devices that help architects with exploration at any time and at any location whenever they get inspiration, and this helps the architect develop new ideas and designs and construct new buildings.
The future: working with an architect in one hand and a smartphone in the other
But it’s barely even begun with mobile communications and architectural rendering tools. The breakthroughs will come with rapid acceleration in computers, then with augmented reality, and finally with cloud computing. Cooperation will be made possible. And with one hand on the smartphone and with the other on the vision, architects will be on the threshold of a completely new era, one that will be much more rapid, more efficient, and will astound their clients with awe-inspiring graphics that literally would come to life before their very eyes.

Apple may be late to the smart glasses market, but it could be covering all its bases with up to four potential styles for its upcoming product. According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, Apple could launch some or all of the four styles it’s currently testing for its smart glasses.
Gurman reported Apple is testing out a large rectangular frame that’s comparable to Ray-Ban Wayfarers, a slimmer rectangular design like the glasses that Apple CEO Tim Cook wears, a larger oval or circular frame and a smaller oval or circle option. Apple is also working on a range of colors, including black, ocean blue and light brown, according to Bloomberg.
Internally code-named N50 for now, Apple’s upcoming smart glasses will compete directly with the second-gen Ray-Ban Meta model. While similar, Apple might be differentiating its design with “vertically oriented oval lenses with surrounding lights,” according to the report. Like Meta’s smart glasses, Apple’s upcoming product will capture photos and videos, but is meant to better sync with an iPhone, allowing users to take advantage of Apple’s ecosystem for editing, sharing, phone calls, notifications, music and even its voice assistant, according to Gurman. The release of Apple’s smart glasses could even coincide with the upcoming improved Siri that should arrive with iOS 27.
Gurman reported that Apple could reveal its smart glasses as soon as the end of 2026 or early 2027, followed by an official release sometime in 2027. As for the competition, Meta released its latest model that’s better suited for prescription lenses and offers a more customizable fit.
When I reviewed the Vivo X300 Ultra last week, I said that it would take something truly extraordinary to measure up to its cameras. OPPO is aiming to do just that with the Find X9 Ultra, and while I can’t talk about the cameras just yet, the fact that the device is launching globally this year — just like the X300 Ultra — means there are two strong contenders if you need a camera-focused upgrade in 2026.
I’ll talk about the Find X9 Ultra’s cameras and how it holds up against the X300 Ultra in my review, but before that, let’s take a look at the design itself. OPPO showed over the last three years that it’s willing to try out different styles, and the Find X9 Ultra doesn’t look anything like the Find X8 Ultra or any of its predecessors. If anything, the bold styling is reminiscent of a traditional camera, and I like that the brand leaned into this aesthetic — I like this design better than Xiaomi’s custom 17 Ultra with Leica accouterments.
The rear of the Find X9 Ultra is outfitted in leather, and it feels great to hold and use. The phone itself is built like a tank, and although it has flat edges, the bevels around the sides ensure it’s comfortable in daily use. In this sense, it is similar to the X300 Ultra, and the camera island is somehow even bigger.
The camera module dominates the design at the back, and you can easily get a sense of the kind of cameras OPPO is using this year just by gauging the size of the modules. Just like Vivo, OPPO used a design where a ring encircles the camera island, and it has metal accents with an orange finish that adds a nice bit of contrast.
Obviously, the camera island extends quite a bit from the body, and that’s a given with Ultras in general and the huge cameras they house. That said, the design of the island and the fact that it’s centered means there isn’t much of a wobble when using the Find X9 Ultra on a table.
I also like that the dedicated camera button on the right has an orange accent, and the overall design feels elegant and polished. This is the Tundra Umber model, and while the Find X9 Ultra is available in an orange hue as well, that isn’t made out of leather.
OPPO’s logo is prominently highlighted at the back, and Hasselblad also gets the same amount of visibility. The leather back and metal finish pairs really well, and while the phone is a little heavy, it isn’t unwieldy in the least.

Having used the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and the Vivo X300 Ultra in recent months, I think I like the design of the Find X9 Ultra the most. The leather finish makes all the difference in this area, and the phone looks like a high-end Hasselblad camera, which is undoubtedly what OPPO was trying to achieve. Thankfully, I’ll be able to share my full findings of the Find X9 Ultra fairly soon, but in the meantime, it’s exciting that the phone will be available outside China.
If you Ask any bike shop owner or manager if they fix electric bikes, you get an interesting array of stories.
“I know a guy who has lost a finger working on ebikes,” says MacKenzie Hardt, owner of Hardt Family Cyclery in Aurora, Colorado, and the former executive director of the nonprofit bike shop and community hub Bikes Together. Hardt has torn tendons in his own hand after accidentally triggering a cadence sensor that caused the wheel to spin out of control on the stand, even when the motor and battery were disconnected.
He now has a message on the company voicemail that informs customers the shop will not repair any ebike without third-party UL 2849 certification, the gold standard that certifies that an ebike’s entire package, from electrical drive train to battery to charger system, has been thoroughly tested. The Wild, Wild West
A lot of the problem in fixing ebikes is related to the fact that a surprising number of electric vehicles that are sold as ebikes are not, in fact, ebikes. According to PeopleForBikes, the third-party advocacy group, an ebike is a low-speed electric vehicle that “closely resembles traditional bicycles in their equipment, handling characteristic, size, and speed.”

In 46 states, all ebikes fall under a Class 1, 2, or 3 distinction. The distinction depends on the bike’s maximum motor-assisted speed and how it’s powered. However, many ebikes sold online are way more powerful than the maximum 28 mph speed allowed on a Class 3 ebike, and they operate more like a moped or even a motorcycle.
“That’s really the heart and soul of the service problem,” says Cory Oseland, manager of the Ski Hut, a high-end bike shop in Duluth, Minnesota. “Once you slide out of the three classes, you run into a lot of parts and equipment that aren’t part of the bike industry.”
Repairing an ebike can also land the shop in a quagmire of liability issues. As bike shops are part of the product liability chain, they can be held responsible if they so much as inflate a tire on an electric vehicle and the rider later injures themselves or another person. Ebike-related injuries have jumped more than 1,020 percent nationwide from 2020 to 2024, according to hospital data, so this is not an unforeseen occurrence. “I have known people who have lost their shirt,” says Hardt.
In most states, if the bike doesn’t fit the Class 1-3 classification system, the shop’s insurance will likely be null and void. The problem, says Hardt, is that “we don’t regulate nationally what an ebike is. What is legal here may not be legal somewhere else.” Working on an unregulated bike, he adds, “is like if somebody brought in a Tesla to fix.”
Glass Cannon Network has been a name in the tabletop roleplaying game actual play space since 2015, acting as one of the first major channels in a space that’s barely 10 years old. According to Glass Cannon Network co-founder Troy Lavallee, a big part of that success comes down to one decision: avoiding Dungeons & Dragons.
“[GCN] started out as ‘Let’s just play [Pathfinder,] the game that we know and the game that we love, because if we’re infectious about how much we enjoy this game, listeners–whether they even play the game or not, [will listen],” Lavallee told me over a video call.
“We’re always shocked by how many people listen who have no interest in ever playing,” he continued. “If we can share our infectious joy of playing, people will feed off of that, and that’s what they listen for. And then it wasn’t until the pandemic [in 2020] that we were like, ‘I wonder if we could finally start playing other games,’ because we saw that everyone else in the space was pretty much just playing D&D. There were a couple of offshoot things here or there, but it was [mostly] D&D, and then we were playing Pathfinder. I said, ‘Let’s start playing everything else.'”

I loved it so much, when I was in middle school, while everyone else was playing at recess, I was working as an assistant librarian in the library. Shelving returned books mostly, but I couldn’t help but open many of the books I was shelving. Come to find out, it happened when I was on campus (!!), but in the other part of the campus…PHEW! 😮💨 It was right where my math teaching job was. At that time, I was waiting around for my next class in the other side of school. 🙏
Still…my dream of becoming a teacher ended that day forever.
