I don’t need to explain what Baldur’s Gate 3 is since it’s one of those games you hear about endlessly, whether you want to or not, because it remains a universally acclaimed phenomenon. PC Gamer’s Fraser Brown gave it our highest score ever in his review, a positively covetable 97, and everyone I know who’s played it did not stop once the credits rolled. But if you’ve yet to take the plunge, now might be a good time: it’s the cheapest it’s ever been on Steam.
Granted, that’s just 30% off, but it’s still a historic low which takes the game down from $60 to $42. That’s 28 Costco hot dogs, and I can personally say I’ve gotten slightly more enjoyment out of Baldur’s Gate 3 than I would get out of 28 Costco hot dogs. In the following paragraphs, I will try to advocate for why that is.
For one, BG3 takes Dungeon & Dragon’s fifth edition and turns into a buildcrafter’s playground—its turn-based combat is a meticulous recreation of the real thing that combines 5e’s RAW with Larian’s trademark elemental field combos and prop destruction, lending the improvisational feel which characterizes tabletop play. The purchase of 28 Costco hot dogs prescribes a very specific sort of evening that invariably ends in physical agony.
Latest Videos FromPC Gamer
BG3 is also a compelling bit of fantasy fiction in its own right, with an action-blockbuster story that’ll have you battling otherworldly horrors, adjudicating the fates of entire towns, and falling in love with your troubled companions. Its sense of choice and consequence is shocking given the 100+ hour scale of its campaign, offering you the agency to become a paragon of virtue or an angel-murdering psychopath. 28 Costco hot dogs, on the other hand, only offer you one choice: sitting on the commode until your legs go numb.
Anyway, BG3 is quite a good RPG that feels like a bold step forward for a very old style of game. If you like 5e, there’s not a better way to experience it in a videogame, and if you don’t like 5e or are unfamiliar with it, it’s such a solid fantasy game in its own right that it might just make you a believer.

The Golden Age of Piracy is coming to an end – as the high seas are commandeered by the Crown’s pirate hunters, an era of adventure and plunder comes to a close… unless you can save it. DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined
Corsair Cove is a city builder that challenges you to think tall as you build without constraints on cliff-faces and hilltops and manage complex production chains that span across great lengths and heights. Manufacture everything from spyglasses to cannons, equip your crew, and build mightyships to take to the seas and wage war against the Crown. Raid and pillage nearby islands to acquire what you can’t make for yourself, exploring uncharted lands to uncover great treasures and threats alike. Above all, keep your crew in high spirits as your numbers grow – it’ll take thousands of pirates to keep the Jolly Roger flying!
Growing from a humble haven to a formidablefortress, your island is not just a home for your crew, but the last bastion of your way of life. Build everything from living quarters and taverns to piers, cannon foundries, and defensive fortifications to create a truly safe harbor, taking advantage of every inch of flat surface – horizontal or otherwise – to expand your capabilities.
Use complex systems of bridges, ziplines, and contraptions of all kinds to efficiently move goods from place to place. Production buildings will need raw materials, and finished products need to be taken to distribution hubs – the efficient movement of goods across the chasms and cliffs of your cove can be the difference between life and death.
Spread your influence across the vast island to gain access to distant resource deposits of everything from iron and copper to lumber and fiber. But beware – as your buildings spread, travel between them becomes more challenging to keep efficient. The looming threat of the Crown’s lackeys requires an armada in response, and a growing population will send you chasing after advanced resources and production chains to meet their needs.

Well well well—what a difference, uh, 30 years makes, huh? While the Sony of 2026 is insisting that it should, or must, carry on with the execution of physical media for its forthcoming PlayStation 6, and has backed away from releasing its prestige games on PC, the Sony of 1996 was in a very different mindset.
Shortly after the release of the original PlayStation, Sony was still so eager to court PC gamers that it took out a 16 page ad supplement in this very magazine to hype up its “PlayStation mega-hits” with “CD-quality audio.”
“Sony is just as committed to bringing great games to the PC as they are to creating cutting-edge PlayStation titles,” the ad reads, as it explains that storied PC publisher Psygnosis had become a subsidiary of Sony Interactive. “In fact, with all the high-end design work coming out of Sony Interactive, PC gaming may never be the same…”
Latest Videos FromPC Gamer
While many of the games featured throughout the 16 page ad insert are not exactly all-timers, it’s fun to look back and see a few closely associated with the PlayStation console, namely WipEout and Twisted Metal, listed for PC. It also promotes a game called Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong Nou as “one of Japan’s most popular CD-ROM titles.” (Hardcore Gaming 101, by contrast, says “the game wasn’t much of a success.)
It’s not exactly a gotcha to point out that the Sony of today is no longer talking up CD-ROMs or how awesome its PC games are. But stumbling upon this ad while I was looking at old issues of PC Gamer magazine still made me a bit wistful. It was cool when games came on discs and Sony was still eager enough to court PC gamers that it was boasting about games that “displayed in stunning SVGA with up to 32,768 colors” and “full 360 degree freedom of movement through a 3D world.”
Enjoy this look back at a better time—or at least a time when “over 40 huge mazes to explore” was all it took to convince someone to buy your game.

BeamNG.drive, a mainstay of our list of the best racing games thanks to its dedication to being a vehicular sandbox for soft-body crash-damage enthusiasts, as well as its PvP and modability, just had its biggest update. The patch includes “massive graphics changes”, which means shadows should be more stable, there’s HDR output support on Vulkan and Direct3D 12, physically correct light attenuation, and dynamic ambient lighting.
My favorite detail is that, in addition to volumetric clouds, BeamNG.drive now has an accurate night sky. “The sky is based on real astronomical values,” the patch notes say, “including Milky Way rendering and a constellation database, fully synchronized with latitude, longitude, date, and time of day.”
This is the kind of dedicated attention to detail you want when you’re slamming cars into fences at several hundred miles per hour to see which ones survive. (The answer is none of them. Fences always win.)
Latest Videos FromPC Gamer
BeamNG.drive’s infamously clunky UI has been overhauled too, with a redesigned pause menu, improved gamepad functionality, and a revamped UI for replays. It’s more moddable than the previous UI too, which is good news because I suspect it’s still going to feel pretty off-putting to new players.
Other additions include an overhauled photo mode, more realistic vehicle lights, a new aerodynamic physics system, various map improvements, memory optimization, updated ambient audio, an all-gravel Rally Loop, a freeroam tutorial, and a new vehicle: the Cherrier Ardente, “a solid contender for the best-looking vehicle we’ve ever done, with a sculpted contemporary exterior and a sporty, driver-focused interior.”
This update brings BeamNG.drive up to version 0.39. It’s been in early access for 11 years now, and is so old it came up through Steam Greenlight. There’s a PS5 version currently in the works, though “future PC updates” are promised as well.

How Can I Remove a Virus From My Mac Without Losing Data in Frisco, TX?
Yes, you can remove a virus from your Mac without losing data, but the safest approach is to stop using the computer immediately and have it professionally cleaned before attempting major repairs or reinstalling macOS. Professional malware removal protects your files, identifies hidden threats, and reduces the risk of permanent data loss.
Mac users often believe their computers are immune to viruses, but today’s malware targets macOS more than ever before. At PC Geeks, we help homeowners, students, and businesses throughout Frisco, TX safely remove malware while protecting valuable documents, photos, videos, and business files. Our technicians begin by assessing the infection, securing important data, and using professional-grade tools to eliminate threats without unnecessary risk. Whether you’re near The Star, Stonebriar Centre, or anywhere else in Frisco, our goal is simple: restore your Mac safely while preserving the information that matters most.
Professional Mac Virus Removal That Protects Your Data
Removing malware is only part of the job. The bigger challenge is ensuring your important files survive the process.
Many online guides recommend deleting system files, using Terminal commands, or reinstalling macOS. While these methods may eliminate malware, they can also erase important data or make recovery much more difficult if performed incorrectly.
Professional technicians follow a safer process that prioritizes both security and data preservation before making significant system changes.
How do you know if your Mac has a virus?
Many infections begin subtly before becoming obvious.
Common warning signs include:
Unexpected pop-up ads
Browser redirects to unfamiliar websites
Applications opening on their own
Slower-than-normal performance
Excessive fan noise or overheating
Security warnings that appear fake
Unknown programs installed without permission
Frequent crashes or freezing
According to Malwarebytes’ State of Malware report, Macs continue to experience increasing numbers of adware, browser hijackers, and potentially unwanted programs that disrupt performance and compromise privacy. While traditional viruses remain less common than on Windows PCs, malware targeting macOS continues to evolve.
If you notice several of these symptoms at once, avoid downloading random “Mac cleaner” applications, as many are scams themselves.
Can I remove a Mac virus myself without losing files?
Sometimes, yes. However, there is significant risk if the infection is severe.
Simple browser hijackers or unwanted applications may be removable manually. More advanced malware can hide in login items, launch agents, browser extensions, and system processes.
DIY removal can accidentally:
Delete important files
Corrupt user accounts
Remove legitimate system components
Trigger ransomware behavior in rare cases
Make data recovery more difficult
The safest choice is having your data secured before any cleanup begins.
Why is professional malware removal safer?
Professional repair shops prioritize protecting your information before eliminating the infection.
A typical professional workflow includes:
Assess the infection and determine its severity.
Back up recoverable data whenever possible.
Scan the system using trusted security tools.
Remove malware, adware, and malicious extensions.
Verify system integrity.
Install security updates.
Confirm personal files remain intact.
Recommend preventive measures.
This approach greatly reduces the chance of accidental data loss while ensuring hidden threats are completely removed.
At PC Geeks, we believe every repair should begin with protecting what matters most, your data.
What should you avoid if your Mac is infected?
Certain actions can make the situation much worse.
Avoid:
Factory resetting your Mac immediately
Downloading unknown “virus cleaners”
Clicking pop-up security warnings
Paying fake Apple support alerts
Ignoring repeated browser redirects
Continuing to log into banking or shopping websites
Disconnecting backup drives without checking for malware
If sensitive accounts have been accessed, changing passwords from a clean device is also recommended.
According to Apple, keeping macOS updated, enabling built-in security features like Gatekeeper and XProtect, and downloading software only from trusted sources significantly reduces malware risk.
Why Frisco Mac Users Choose Professional Help
Frisco continues to grow with remote workers, entrepreneurs, students, and families relying on Macs every day.
Whether you’re working from home near Panther Creek, attending classes, or managing a business close to Legacy Drive or Preston Road, losing important files can be far more costly than the repair itself.
Professional service provides:
Safe malware removal
Data-first repair procedures
Faster diagnosis
Expert recommendations
Reduced chance of recurring infections
Peace of mind
Instead of guessing which online guide is trustworthy, you receive a customized solution based on your Mac’s condition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Macs really get viruses?
Yes. Although macOS includes strong built-in security, Macs can still become infected with malware, adware, browser hijackers, spyware, and other malicious software.
Will removing a virus delete my files?
Not necessarily. Professional virus removal is designed to preserve your data whenever possible by backing up important files before making major system changes.
Should I reinstall macOS if my Mac has malware?
Only if necessary. Many infections can be removed without reinstalling macOS. A professional evaluation determines the safest and least disruptive solution.
How long does professional Mac virus removal take?
Most malware removal services can be completed within one to two days, depending on the severity of the infection and whether additional data recovery or hardware diagnostics are needed.

Capcom just released its Q1 2026 financial report, and to absolutely no one’s surprise, the company is doing well, really well. But to my surprise, so is Pragmata. As part of the report Capcom shared sales figures for its recent releases, and Pragmata sold more than 2.5 million copies since it was released earlier this year.
Now, to be clear this isn’t because I think Pragmata is a bad game—I liked its old-timey shooter vibes and QTE hacking when I played its preview way back when. And Justin Wagner really loved its puzzles, main duo, and “poignant” narrative moments in our Pragmata review. But even still it’s a completely new story from Capcom with no existing fanbase to go to bat for it.
I also felt that its release fell a little flat as hype seemingly petered out rather quickly—I certainly didn’t feel the need to tell the world about my adventures around the collapsing moonbase. Nevertheless, I’m happy that Pragmata was successful and that it translated into healthy sales numbers. Hopefully this gives Capcom renewed confidence when it comes to pursuing new worlds and ideas.

Capcom also touts the Devil May Cry animated series and the latest Resident Evil game as facets that “helped to drive sales”, with Resident Evil Requiem selling over 8 million copies since its release—a sizeable jump from its 6 million units sold back in March.
All of this success means that Capcom is “on track to achieve its full-year earnings forecast” as net sales increase 54.7% year-on-year, alongside a 66.9% year-on-year increase in operating profits. It’s certainly a massive improvement on last year’s report which was hampered by cratering Monster Hunter Wilds sales, falling more than 95% from its launch quarter. It ended up selling fewer copies in Q1 2025 than Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 4 remake, and Resident Evil Village—so yeah, it’s only up from there.

New Blood’s comic book golden age noir detective immersive sim shooter, Fallen Aces, just got a beefy new update: Its second episode, Shadow of Death, is playable right now, while the usually $15 game is on sale for $12 until August 8.
Fallen Aces – Episode 2: Shadow of Death – OUT NOW – YouTube
I’m kind of allergic to playing games in early access, so I haven’t touched Fallen Aces since I fell in love with its first few levels back in 2024. Those levels were fun, the stealth tense, the combat beautifully slapstick, and the pulpy story engaging. But I mean it as a compliment when I say that the Episode 2 trailer shows a practically unrecognizable game.
It’s got car chases, sprawling city environments, medieval broadswords, and I lost track of how many new guns. Shout out to the cartoony Mateba Model 6 Unica in there, a.k.a the cyberpunk detective gun. The more games that sport this beautiful Italian oddity, the better.
Latest Videos FromPC Gamer
New Blood’s entire main lineup of the 2020s has been slow to cook, but the three games have justified that time with ambitious increases of scope. Ultrakill’s recent layer of Fraud looks like its most striking and unique yet, while Gloomwood’s development updates with monster serums, armored pig constables, nonlethal takedowns, and Rat Mode give me a “how did we even get here” feeling like looking at my phone and seeing an Uber driver in the ocean or something. In a good way.
New Blood likes to start its games cheap and raise the price as value is added in early access, so it’s long been curtains for Fallen Aces’ launch price of $10. 15 bucks is hardly shabby, though, and you can take advantage of that nice compromise $12 sale for the next two weeks on Steam.
