Google Launches AI Mode for All

Google has expanded access to AI Mode, the experimental tool in Search that lets users ask complex, multipart questions and follow up to learn more about the topic.

AI Mode was first made available in March, and until now, users needed to join a waitlist. Now, anyone in the United States who is at least 18 years old and enrolled in Google Labs can use AI Mode. Google is also testing an AI Mode tab in Search that will be visible to a small percentage of users in the US, which means some people will be able to access it even if they are not in Labs.

Not only this, but Google is also adding new functions to AI Mode. Users can access visual place and product cards, which have ratings, reviews, opening hours for local businesses, real-time prices, promotions, images, shipping details, and local product inventory.

For example, searching for vintage shops with midcentury modern furniture will show nearby stores how busy they are and provide options to call or get directions. If someone is shopping for a camping chair that fits in a backpack and costs under $100, AI Mode will list recommended products with details and links to retailers.

Another important point is the ability to pick up where you left off. On the desktop, users can click a new left-side panel in AI Mode to see their past searches, review information already given, and ask follow-up questions.

AI Mode uses Google’s search index, real-time data from local businesses, and its Shopping Graph, which updates over 2 billion product listings every hour.
