How to get Microsoft BI and data science certifications?

To get a certification, a candidate should make a certain path suggested by Microsoft. Mainly, this path consists of two corresponding exams. However, there are cases when a candidate should satisfy some prerequisites first. For example, to get MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, a candidate should first attain one of the relevant MSCAs in the business intelligence domain.

For each exam, Microsoft shares clear guidelines. They describe what skills will be tested, indicate sample tasks and the share of this kind of tasks in the overall test. Besides, Microsofts provides rich learning materials and a candidate can choose the preferred preparation option, be it instructor-led or self-paced training, studying relevant books or taking official practice tests.

How much do certifications cost?

The certification cost depends on the path that a candidate is to follow. As the cost of one exam is $165, the final cost will depend on the number of exams in a path that a candidate should take. Let’s consider the longest (and therefore the most expensive path) – earning the MCSE Data Management and Analytics certification by a candidate following the MCSA SQL Server 2012/2014 path. As the candidate has to pass four exams, the total cost of getting the MCSE is $660 (in case, a candidate passes all the exams on their first attempt). By the way, a candidate is allowed to take a certain exam no more than 5 times within 12 months.

Still, we strongly recommend clarifying the exact pricing before registering to take an exam, as Microsoft grants discounts to some candidates, for example, Microsoft Partner Network members, as well as makes promotional offers.

Do Microsoft certifications expire?

Technically, Microsoft BI certifications don’t expire. However, each certification is always bound to a specific date when it’s earned. As the technologies evolve and their fresher versions replace their predecessors, it’s natural to expect that a certification earned in 2012 may fail to create a competitive advantage in 2019. Perfectly understanding this, Microsoft regularly updates their exams. Plus, they usually offer transitional exams to help renew the certification at a discount.

Transformers One Will Have Younger, Messier Robots in Disguise

Earlier in the week, we got our first look at Transformers One, and it probably didn’t look like what you were imagining. The animated movie, which is meant to serve as an origin story for Optimus Prime (Chris Hemsworth) and Megatron (Brian Tyree Henry)—here respectively known as Orion Pax and D-16—is sillier than expected, and predates the Autobot/Decepticon war that serves as the franchise’s foundation. If you’re on the fence after that trailer, director Josh Cooley’s here to assuage your concerns, and also give some more insight into how the movie will serve its characters.

The Real Ghostbusters Toys With Fantastic Fright Features are Back!

Talking to IGN, Cooley explained that the trailer’s comedy focus was in part to help audiences “fall in love with [Orion and D-16] as brothers and friends” before things hit the fan. “They’re from the same generation and have a very tight relationship,” he continued, “[and] something happens on their planet that they both have two different reactions to. By the end of this film, there’s some serious stakes.”

In D-16’s case, those stakes involve treating him like he’s not automatically booked to be a villain. Cooley described the future Megatron as someone who should be “very real and fully rounded. D-16 takes [things] to a place, just a lot of anger, but you understand why.” With Henry’s insight, the team ensured that audiences would relate to D-16 and get where he was coming from before an undescribed event changes his outlook on Cybertron in ways that lead to a “natural split” with Orion. Cooley hopes that before the credits roll, fans and newcomers will view D-16 and Orion’s conflict as a very real and tragic split between old friends.

As for Orion, he’s described by Cooley as someone who’s driven, but doesn’t always put the drive to its best use. He’ll have to discover how to earn the name Optimus Prime, and what being Optimus Prime really even means. “Like anybody else, there is a level of maturity that we don’t have unless we’ve gone through something. […] We’re really taking these characters to heart and treating them with the respect that they deserve and knowing where they’re going to end up. It’s just seeing how they get there.”

Transformers One comes to theaters on September 20.

To kick off 2024, we have partnered with Lablab.ai to host the NextGen GPT AI Hackathon with Clarifai. The purpose of the Hackathon is to nurture creativity in the development of AI-first products utilizing powerful models, including GPT-4 (Vision), Text to Speech, GPT-4 Turbo, and the Image Generation DALL·E 3 from the Clarifai community.  A total of 1,491 enthusiasts, forming 207 teams, have registered, resulting in an impressive 47 project submissions.

The challenge required participants to create a Generative AI project and showcase an innovative application using the GPT-4 Vision, GPT-4 Turbo, DALL.E 3, Text-to-Speech, and other diverse ranges of text, audio, and vision models from the Clarifai community.

47 impressive projects were created and submitted for judging. Here are some of the standout projects.

1st Place 🥇: Story Prep

Story Prep won the top prize. It is an app that helps you learn a language by reading your favourite author. You don’t need a dictionary at hand to read the entire story. All you need to do is upload your story, and the application will convert the story into lessons that teach just what is necessary for you to enjoy that particular story.

It also allows you to generate vocabulary sheets and downloadable listening exercises based on any work of fiction. This material will teach you all the necessary words and grammar to jump into an uninterrupted reading experience.

2nd Place 🥈: AI Project Manager Assistant

AI Project Manager Assistant won second place with its aim to save time by keeping track of meeting notes. The team created a Slack bot that automatically records meeting transcripts and sends the summary in a specified Slack channel. The assistant has a /dailysummary command to get the summaries of all meetings during the day. 

Here’s how AI Project Manager Assistant works:

1. Record a Meeting: As a first step, the assistant uses Fathom to record a Zoom meeting and sends the transcript as JSON to Zapier.

2. Convert JSON to .txt: Zapier converts JSON to .txt and sends as POST request to the server.

3. Summarize the transcript: The server calls the GPT-4-turbo model from Clarifai to summarize the .txt file.

4. Store the summary: The summarized .txt file is stored in the database.

5. Slackbot returns the summary: Finally, Slackbot returns the summarized meeting transcript upon typing /dailysummary.

3rd Place 🥉: Recovery Pal

Recovery Pal, the third-place winner, is a mobile app designed for addiction recovery. The app supports various features, including:

1. Emotional Check-in to monitor and track a user’s emotional state.

2. Custom Affirmations tailored to each user’s needs and recovery progress, generated using the GPT-4 model from the Clarifai community.

3. Journaling for self-reflection.

4. Art Interpretation, where users can submit their art, and it will be interpreted by AI based on context; this is done using the GPT-4 Vision model and also uses the DALL·E 3 model to enhance the artistic expression.

5. Finally, Custom Meditations are created based on individual needs and preferences, which use the Text-to-speech model from the Clarifai community.

Traditional recruitment methods often neglect a substantial workforce segment: individuals not actively job hunting but open to a change. This widens the employee gap in many companies. EyeCue addresses this challenge by leveraging AI-generated videos to engage both active and passive candidates.

This was our first hackathon in 2024. It was great to see participants leveraging various text, vision, and audio models from the Clarifai community to build cool Generative AI projects. In this week’s video, I wanted to build on the viewport/site plan drawing we made a few weeks ago and share some awesome, somewhat hidden/secret tools in AutoCAD to make your Site Plans better and easier to create!

By following these steps and using the commands and tips in the video, we will take advantage of the AutoCAD free Map Toolset and utilize some “hidden” tools that will allow us to easily add dynamic north arrows, scalebars, and text in a matter of seconds!

Almost every drawing you create as a Civil designer or drafter will need a North Arrow and Scalebar. I just recently helped my Dad with some site plans for the City where we live in order for him to apply to subdivide a property and the submission requires a Scaled Plan which is made much easier when you understand viewports and scales in AutoCAD.
