Kathleen Kennedy Gives Some Intriguing ‘Star Wars’ Movie Updates After Her Lucasfilm Exit



It’s official. Kathleen Kennedy is leaving Lucasfilm. And, in a new interview talking about the decision, the producer offered updates on several Star Wars movies that may, or may not, be coming in the future.

“Jim Mangold and Beau Willimon wrote an incredible script, but it is definitely breaking the mold, and it’s on hold,” Kennedy told Deadline. “Taika [Waititi] has turned in a script that I think is hilarious and great. It’s not just my decision, especially when I’ve got a foot out the door. Donald Glover has turned in a script. And as you have read, Steve Soderbergh and Adam Driver turned in a script written by Scott Burns. It was just great. Anything’s a possibility if somebody’s willing to take a risk.”

The Mangold-Willimon script is the Dawn of the Jedi idea that was first announced at Star Wars Celebration in 2023. The Taika Waititi movie is one Lucasfilm announced way back in 2020, and Glover’s script is about Lando and was first discussed in late 2023. As for the Soderbergh and Driver thing, well, we know.

Oddly, two films that Kennedy doesn’t mention are the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Rey movie and the Dave Filoni Heir to the Empire movie, both of which were announced along with Mangold’s film in 2023. That’s very, very discouraging.

More encouraging is what she has to say about Simon Kinberg’s new trilogy which, though being reworked, is still moving ahead. “[Kinberg] is working right now,” Kennedy said. “He wrote something that we read in August, and it was very good, but not there. We’ve pretty much upended the story, and then spent a great deal of time on the treatment, which he finished literally about four weeks ago. And it’s a very detailed treatment, like 70 pages. And so he is expected to give us something in March.”

So with The Mandalorian and Grogu coming out this year, and Star Wars: Starfighter (which Kennedy says was meant to be a standalone but could, potentially, be sequalized) out next year, what movie is coming next? It won’t be Kennedy’s call anymore, but there are additional thoughts. “Mangold’s is really on the back burner as is Soderbergh’s,” she said. “I think the ones by Taika and Donald are still somewhat alive. That’s going to really be up to the new team to figure out. I know that [new Lucasfilm heads] Dave [Filoni] and Lynwen [Brennan] are very much on board with what Simon’s doing, and that would be a new trilogy. In the timeline of things, that takes you well into 2030 plus. So that’s really what’s up next.”

How to claim Verizon’s $20 credit for Wednesday’s service outage


Verizon is offering a very small mea culpa after Wednesday’s massive outage, which drew more than 1.5 million reports on Downdetector and lasted hours. The carrier posted on X that it will offer a $20 credit, but customers must redeem it in the myVerizon app.

“This credit isn’t meant to make up for what happened. No credit really can,” the company wrote. “But it’s a way of acknowledging your time and showing that this matters to us.” Incensed customers have largely replied with incredulity, both at the miniscule amount, and that it isn’t being applied automatically.

Engadget has reached out to Verizon seeking clarity on whether this credit can be claimed by contacting the carrier or only through the app. We will update this piece if we hear back.

Your Spotify Premium Subscription Is About to Cost More


Spotify announced a round of price increases on Thursday, and said the changes will affect customers in the US, Latvia and Estonia. The music streaming giant is raising the monthly rates on its premium subscriptions, which take effect immediately for new subscribers but will be implemented for current customers in February. Spotify last bumped up pricing in the US in the summer of 2024.

The Premium Individual subscription is going from $12 to $13 per month, Premium Duo is increasing from $17 to $19, and a Premium Family plan is climbing from $20 to $22. If you already have a Spotify Premium subscription, you will receive an email from the company outlining the cost update to your bill.

Rumors of another US price hike began circulating in November 2025 after Spotify rolled out an increase for subscribers in Europe, Latin America and other international regions. The latest price update follows the company’s launch of music videos within the app for US listeners in December.

It cites conversations it’s had with retailers and AIBs about the cards post-CES where both basically say that the RTX 5070 Ti cards that are out on the shelves right now are your lot. That’s it. Fallout Episode 5 Continues To Expand The Series By Dropping Two Major Bombshells



Spoilers for this week’s episode of Fallout to follow.

Ring a ding ding! Another week, another episode of Fallout. Last week’s episode was notable because it showed our heroes Lucy (Ella Purnell) and Cooper (Walton Goggins) finally arrive at the iconic strip from Fallout: New Vegas. Though the pair had hoped to find Lucy’s father, Hank (Kyle Maclachlan), they were instead greeted by a horrific sight: a Deathclaw, one of Fallout’s most iconic enemies. Elsewhere, Norm (Moisés Arias) and the Vault-Tec junior executives from Vault 31 are exploring the Los Angeles wasteland in hopes of finding Vault-Tec’s headquarters. With plenty of tense situations and big set-ups hanging in the air, let’s dive into this week’s adventure in the Mojave wasteland.

The episode opens with Lucy and Cooper encountering the Deathclaw on the strip. Horrified at the sight of the creature, they quickly realize there is not one but three Deathclaws, making them fully surrounded. Knowing the danger they’re in, Cooper suggests running and staying out of sight. While hidden, Lucy asks Cooper which weapon he suggests they use to take them on. Knowing none of them will work, he takes a sack of grenades and throws it out as a distraction by shooting it. With the Deathclaws occupied, Cooper and Lucy escape to the backside of The Strip into the neighborhood of Freeside.

While in Freeside, which happens to be one of the most thriving communities in the Mojave Wasteland, Cooper finally reveals to Lucy why he wants to hunt down Hank. Cooper’s wife Barbara (Frances Turner) and daughter Janey were put into cryosleep by Vault-Tec in one of the vaults reserved for upper management. He tells her he found two of these vaults in Oregon and California, but they were empty inside. If he finds Hanks, he can find the Vault in the Mojave that is hopefully housing his family inside. With Lucy still addicted to Buffout, he suggests she go to the general store for some Addictol while he retires to a bar where he reflects on who he has become since he’s seen his family.

Jumping to before the bomb fell, we see a flashback with Cooper, Barbara, and Hank at the airport. Hank plans to escort them to Vegas but is also tasked by Vault-Tec to deliver an important briefcase that’s handcuffed to his wrist. Stepping away from them for a moment, Cooper calls Moldaver (Sarita Choudhury) on a payphone. Moldaver provides Cooper with poison to assassinate Robert House (Rafi Silver), though Cooper swears to her he’ll get her the Cold Fusion without having to kill a man.

The trio arrive in Vegas during its prime and pull up to the Lucky 38 hotel, where crowds are protesting RobCo industries and the hotel’s owner Robert House. The tension reaches a peak when security throws a woman down the front steps of the hotel and Cooper rushes over to help her. She’s a local congresswoman and she recognizes Cooper and thanks him for his act of kindness.

Inside the bustling Casino the trio are split up. Trying to keep an eye on where Hank is headed, where his wife went, and where to find Mr. House, Cooper gets lost in the crowd of confusion. His task seems impossible until he’s approached by Mr. House who tells him “Mr. House would like to see you” and leads him to his private quarters. Inside, Cooper is greeted by Tex the securitron and The Mysterious Stranger (Justin Theroux), who Cooper recognizes from the bathroom of the VFW. The Mysterious Stranger reveals himself to be the true Robert House, and confessed that the one the public knows has been a ruse for over a decade. After revealing this, he informs Cooper that he knows of the assassination plot against him.

Jumping forward to the present, we see the snake oil salesman (Jon Daly) from season one on the road to New Vegas. After a brief but violent encounter with a radroach he arrives in the city only to be swiftly ambushed by Hank and taken back to the Vault-Tec vault. It’s here inside the vault that we do indeed get confirmation that Barbara and Janey’s cryo tubes are in the Mojave. Hank hooks up a mind control device to the snake oil salesman and offers him a fresh start, which he accepts. Hank turns on the device and is pleased when the salesman’s head does not explode.

Back in Los Angeles, Norm and the executives from Vault-31 find the Vault-Tec headquarters. As they head inside they encounter Ma June (Dale Dickey) from Filly, who has apparently been using the former headquarters as a radroach farm. When Norm inquires as to who is, she reveals to him that she encountered Lucy and tells him of the events that took place back in Filly. She tells him that he’s better off taking supplies from her and heading home because Lucy is most likely dead.

Back in Freeside, Lucy heads to the local general store to buy some Addictol but is dismayed to learn that it’s out of her budget. Seeing an open backdoor, Lucy decides to sneak inside and steal the Addictol along with a Power Fist that she comes across. While participating in her stealth check, she spots a chopped up body in a nearby trash can and is confronted by the “store owner” in ill-fitting clothes. Lucy then realizes that the man in front of her murdered the real owner. Before he has time to fire his gun at her, Lucy shoots the man in self-defense, ultimately killing him. Lucy stands mortified at murder she just committed as a Freeside resident stumbles upon the bloodbath.

Back in Pre-War Vegas, Mr. House reveals he’s been following Cooper for some time. He tells him that he had access to West-Tek technologies, granting him the ability to see through the visors of the T-45 power armor that Cooper wore in Alaska. He tells Cooper that the Deathclaw is the key to future control of the country. House then tells Cooper that he plans to use the Cold Fusion relic to stay alive after death–to run Vegas and protect it from the bombs that Vault-Tec plan to drop. Despite working the odds to be in his favor, House remains unsure how Cooper fits into all his plans for the end of the world. During House’s mad ramblings, Cooper makes a quick exit without the Cold Fusion.

At the Vault-Tec headquarters, the executives of Vault 31 scramble to get it back into working order. Norm learns from one of the executives that Barbara Howard was their director of operations and heads to her office to find information on what the plan was for Vaults 32 and 33. Inside her office he finds a terminal and searches “Future Enterprise Ventures” with no returning results. Out of ideas, he decides to search “FEV” and is greeted with a screen that says: “Forced Evolutionary Virus.” Bud Askin’s assistant was spying on Norm the entire time and attacks him when he uncovers the true meaning of “FEV.” In their scuffle, Norm is choked unconscious.

After Lucy walks the streets of Freeside–vomiting from the Addictol as she does–she meets back up with Cooper in a hotel room where they’re greeted by an uninvited guest: the snake oil salesman. Delivering a message from Hank, he informs them that he has Barbara and Janey in his vault and will kill them if they don’t stop attempting to track him. He then strikes a deal with Cooper: if he turns Lucy over to him, he’ll spare his family. Cooper then reveals his true motivation for taking Lucy on this journey: to use her as a bargaining chip to get information on his family. He accepts the deal and shoots Lucy with a tranquilizer. Before she can fully pass out, she arms herself with the Power Fist and launches Cooper out the window impaling him on a pole below.

Sometime later, Hank arrives to pick her up.

This week’s Fallout weaved an intricate web. What once felt like parallel stories have instead become closely tied together. The reveals this week were also bombshells, be it the identity of the real Mr. House or the true meaning of “FEV.” Maximus (Aaron Moten) and the Brotherhood of Steel weren’t even in this episode so it’ll be interesting to see how they tie into the overarching narrative as we head closer to the finale of this season in the Mojave Wasteland.

visual studio – No compatible code running on thread when debugging Blazor WASM Standalone


I created a brand new Blazor WASM Standlone project configured to use Microsoft Entra. Everything works fine but I can’t even put a break point to inspect anything in my code. I get the following error when I place a break point:

I’m running the latest version of Visual Studio 2026 18.2.0 and also have the latest .NET SDK installed i.e. 10.0.102. I also made sure the .NET 10.0 WebAssembly Build Tools is installed in ASP.NET and web development workload.

I did some research and see quite a few Blazor WASM debugging issues reported. Any idea what the issue may be here?

Verizon says its service is back after a 10-hour outage


Verizon’s network is experiencing technical issues that are impacting calls and wireless data. Verizon customers on X have reported seeing “SOS” rather than the traditional network bars on their smartphones, and even the network provider’s own status page struggled to load, likely due to the number of customers trying to access it.

Based on the experience of Verizon users on Engadget’s staff, the services that are impacted appear to be calls and wireless data. Text messages continue to be delivered normally, at least for some users. On DownDetector, reports of a Verizon outage started growing around 12PM ET and numbered in the hundreds of thousands at their peak.

DownDetector also shows spikes in outage reports on competing networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, but in terms of magnitude, they’re much smaller than the issue Verizon is facing. For example, Verizon peaked at 181,769 reports, while AT&T’s was just 1,769 reports. The difference between the two is great enough that those AT&T reports could be from people trying to contact Verizon customers and thinking that their personal network was the problem.

In a post on the cell provider’s news account on X, Verizon acknowledged the issues with its network. “We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers,” Verizon wrote. “Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience.”

Based on DownDetector’s map of outage reports, issues with Verizon’s network appear to be concentrated in major cities in the eastern United States. The majority of reports appear to be coming out of Boston, New York and Washington DC, though the map also shows growing hot spots in Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

At 2:14PM ET, Verizon shared on X that its engineering teams “remain fully deployed” to work on fixing the outage. The company didn’t share when the issue would resolved or how many of its customers are currently impacted. Reports on DownDetector have dropped since their peak at 12:43PM ET, but thousands of Verizon customers are still noticing issues with the service.

As of 3:09PM ET, Verizon has yet to share more information about the recovery of the company’s cell network. Some Verizon customers on X have noticed their cell service returning, but it’s not clear if this means the network’s technical issues have been fixed.

At 4:06PM ET, nearly two hours since the company’s last statement, at least one member of Engadget’s staff reports their service has been restored. The connectivity issues are still affecting Verizon customers, however. DownDetector received over 55,000 outage reports as recently as 3:47PM ET.

Verizon posted at 4:12PM ET that work continues on addressing the outage, but the issue hasn’t been completely fixed. According to the company, its team is “on the ground actively working to fix today’s service issue that is impacting some customers.”

As of 4:52PM ET, the Verizon’s network has been experiencing issues for around four hours, making today’s outage nearly as long as the last major outage the company had in 2024. Like that 2024 outage, Verizon has yet to share what exactly is causing the issues with its network. Without out an official update, it’s safe to assume the company is still working on a fix.

At 5:41PM ET, DownDetector latest tally still shows over 46,000 people reporting issues with Verizon’s network. Based on the platform’s map, the same cities are filing the bulk of the outage reports, though reporting appears more diffuse than before as news of the outage has spread across the country.

At 6:20PM ET, the situation was much the same. Tens of thousands of users (including Engadget editors) still don’t have proper service, and Verizon had not updated its customers since 4:12PM ET. There are intermittent reports of service coming back and then failing again but seemingly no true fix has been deployed.

At 10:20PM ET, Verizon has announced that the outage has been resolved and has encouraged subscribers still having issues to restart their devices to reconnect to the network. The company also said that it will provide account credits to affected customers.

Both T-Mobile and AT&T have confirmed that their own networks are unaffected by the issues facing their competitor. In a post on X, T-Mobile shared that its network is “operating normally and as expected.” Meanwhile, AT&T says that for any of its customers experiencing issues, “it’s not us…it’s the other guys.”

Update, January 14, 7:25PM ET: This article was published as a developing story and was updated multiple times over a period of around seven hours. These updates were additive, and noted with a timestamp within the article. As of writing, Verizon is still down for tens of thousands of users and the company’s support team has not issued an update on the stituation in over three hours. Happy Wednesday!
