I tested the Moto G Stylus 2026, and it’s finally starting to feel like an affordable alternative to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but the price tag makes it a tougher sell

Why you can trust Android Central

In recent years, Motorola’s Moto G Stylus has blurred the line between mid-range and high-end, offering the best of both worlds at a very attainable price. The Moto G Stylus 2026 attempts to continue this legacy by basically taking a popular Galaxy S26 Ultra feature and sticking it on a phone less than half the price.

That said, times are tough right now for the consumer electronics industry, and the ongoing RAM shortage is forcing companies to make certain concessions with their smartphones. We knew that budget and mid-range smartphones might feel the most pressure, and the Moto G Stylus 2026 feels like a clear example of how no one is immune to the effects of rising RAM costs.

Anthropic’s rise is giving some OpenAI investors second thoughts

OpenAI’s $852 billion valuation is facing skepticism from some of its own investors as the company scrambles to reorient itself around enterprise customers and fend off Anthropic, according to the Financial Times.

Anthropic’s annualized revenue jumped from $9 billion at the end of 2025 to $30 billion by the end of March, driven largely by demand for its coding tools. One investor who has backed both companies told the FT that justifying OpenAI’s round required assuming an IPO valuation of $1.2 trillion or more — making Anthropic’s current $380 billion valuation look like the relative bargain.

The secondary market tells a similar story right now, where demand for Anthropic shares has grown nearly insatiable while OpenAI shares are trading at a discount.

Altman has been here before. During his tenure leading Y Combinator, aggressive valuation inflation left some portfolio companies financially stranded while others proved worth every penny and then some.

OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar pushed back, telling the FT that the company’s $122 billion raise — the largest private fundraising in history — was evidence of continued investor confidence. Not everyone is persuaded. Jai Das, president of investment firm Sapphire Ventures (who has no stake in either company) told the FT he saw OpenAI as “the Netscape of AI,” a reference to the once-dominant browser that was overtaken by Microsoft and eventually absorbed by AOL.

Update: This piece has been updated to remove an investor quote published and later removed by the Financial Times.

Stuck on a sketchy site? Google is finally putting a stop to it

What you need to know

  • Google is cracking down on “back button hijacking,” a trick that traps users on sketchy websites.

Booking.com confirms hackers accessed customers’ data

Booking.com confirmed Monday that hackers may have accessed customers’ personal data, including names, emails, physical addresses, phone numbers, and booking details. The global travel and hotel reservation giant notified customers this past week of the breach, according to several online posts.

“We’re writing to inform you that unauthorized third parties may have been able to access certain booking information associated with your reservation,” read the notificaiton to customers, according to one user’s post on Reddit. Several other Reddit users replying to the post said they received the same notification. The message from the company included the aforementioned types of compromised data, as well as “anything that you may have shared with the accommodation.”

The user who posted the notification on Reddit told TechCrunch that they received a phishing message via WhatsApp two weeks ago that included “booking details and personal information.” That suggests hackers are leveraging the stolen information to target Booking.com customers.

Booking.com spokesperson Courtney Camp told TechCrunch that the company “noticed some suspicious activity involving unauthorized third parties being able to access some of our guests’ booking information. Upon discovering the activity, we took action to contain the issue. We have updated the PIN number for these reservations and informed our guests.”

The spokesperson declined to answer TechCrunch’s specific questions, including how many customers were affected by this incident and then notified.

The company told The Guardian that “financial information was not accessed”.

In 2024, TechCrunch reported that hackers had infected several hotels’ computers with consumer-grade spyware, or stalkerware. In one case, a victim was logged into their Booking.com administration portal when the PcTattleTale stalkerware took a screenshot of their screen.

I went hands-on with the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, and it may just be the camera phone of 2026

When I reviewed the Vivo X300 Ultra last week, I said that it would take something truly extraordinary to measure up to its cameras. OPPO is aiming to do just that with the Find X9 Ultra, and while I can’t talk about the cameras just yet, the fact that the device is launching globally this year — just like the X300 Ultra — means there are two strong contenders if you need a camera-focused upgrade in 2026.

I’ll talk about the Find X9 Ultra’s cameras and how it holds up against the X300 Ultra in my review, but before that, let’s take a look at the design itself. OPPO showed over the last three years that it’s willing to try out different styles, and the Find X9 Ultra doesn’t look anything like the Find X8 Ultra or any of its predecessors. If anything, the bold styling is reminiscent of a traditional camera, and I like that the brand leaned into this aesthetic — I like this design better than Xiaomi’s custom 17 Ultra with Leica accouterments.

Kalshi wins temporary pause in Arizona criminal case

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ case against prediction market Kalshi appears to have hit a snag.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced Friday that it has won a temporary restraining order preventing the state from pursuing its criminal case against Kalshi (whose CEO Tarek Mansour is pictured above).

“Arizona’s decision to weaponize state criminal law against companies that comply with federal law sets a dangerous precedent, and the court’s order today sends a clear message that intimidation is not an acceptable tactic to circumvent federal law,” said CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig in a statement.

While the CFTC normally has five commissioners, Selig is currently the only one on the commission, following his confirmation in December and the departure of previous acting chairman Caroline Pham (who left to join crypto company MoonPay).

Arizona has filed charges against Kalshi accusing the company of operating an illegal gambling business in the state without a license. The announcement of the restraining order comes just a couple days after a federal judge allowed Arizona’s case to move forward, according to Bloomberg.

The CFTC also filed suits seeking to stop similar cases from moving forward in Connecticut and Illinois.

I use these two Android features to trick my international friends into thinking I’m fluent in their languages

Google Translate has been a staple in my life for many years, as I’m quite close with people from all over the world. And while they all speak English to varying degrees, I often try to help by speaking to them in a language they’re more familiar with. Google Translate helps to some degree, but having to open the app, copy the text, and paste it into a separate app is a clunky way to go about it.

Fortunately, Google has integrated its Translate capabilities across other apps and features in Android, making it easier to access these features where they’re most needed. Gboard and Circle to Search are two such apps, and they’ve helped me make sense of what my international friends are saying when speaking to me in their native languages, while allowing me to respond in a way they can easily understand.

Google added a Translate button to Circle to Search to easily translate whatever’s on your screen, and it’s been one of my favorite (and probably most-used) features.
