This new smartwatch can last a full week on a single charge

HUAWEI is no stranger to smartwatches, having set high benchmarks with the Watch GT 6 and its Pro sibling last year. It’s nearly that time of year when the company refreshes its smartwatch lineup, and right on schedule, the Watch GT 7 and the Watch GT 7 Pro are going official.

Following days of teasing their arrival on social media platforms, HUAWEI has finally taken the wraps off the smartwatches, but only for the Chinese market. While the Watch GT 7 and GT 7 Pro don’t differ much in the design department from their predecessors, HUAWEI now offers them in updated colors and revamped wristbands.

Starting with the GT 7 Pro, HUAWEI has retained the 1.47-inch, 466 x 466 AMOLED screen with a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, housed in a titanium case. All of this is virtually identical to the Watch GT 6 Pro, as are the wide array of health-tracking sensors, including SpO2, ECG, heart rate, as well as a skin temperature sensor.

HUAWEI is offering a Pro Ski mode with the Watch GT 7 Pro along with updated sports and activity-tracking modes. The smartwatch offers 21 days of battery life with light usage, 12 days with regular use, and seven days with the always-on display (AOD) enabled, the company says. This wearable will be available in new yellow and green colorways paired with a silver case, in addition to the existing black/silver variant from the last-gen model.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer will offer the vanilla Watch GT 7 in 41mm and 46mm variants (pictured below), featuring a 1.32-inch and 1.47-inch AMOLED screen, respectively. The smartwatch lacks an ECG sensor, but includes SpO2, heart rate, and skin temperature sensors.

Similar to the Watch GT 7 Pro, buyers can expect the 46mm variant to last up to 21 days on a full charge with light use and up to seven days with AOD enabled. HUAWEI says the 41mm model offers a 14-day battery life with light usage and five days with always-on display turned on.

The Watch GT 7 in the 41mm version will set customers back by 1,588 CNY (~$235), while the 46mm model will sell for 1,688 CNY (~$250) in China. The premium Watch GT 7 Pro will cost 2,688 CNY (~$398) in the region. HUAWEI’s Harmony OS is the software of choice for the Watch GT 7 series, which means it will miss out on some of the benefits available to Wear OS smartwatches.

HUAWEI hasn’t revealed when (or if) an international launch is on the horizon, though we’d be surprised if the two smartwatches didn’t appear on global retail shelves sometime soon.

This Galaxy Z Fold 6 competitor looks like it’s from the future

Foldable phones have been around for a little while now. They’re still cool, but they’re quickly becoming pretty commonplace. Huawei’s newest folding phone, however, looks straight out of The Expanse and is barely thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, despite having three folds instead of two.

The Huawei Mate XT is available in China for the equivalent of just under $3,000. Expensive for a phone, yes, but this one is truly unique. The OLED screen can open up to a total of 10.2 inches (the same sizes as many tablets, for reference) and has an impressive 16:11 aspect ratio.

You don’t always have to keep the phone that far open, though. Users can also use it more like a normal book-style foldable by opening only two of the folds, resulting in a 7.9-inch display. That’s close to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in size.

When completely unfolded, the Huawei Mate XT is just 3.6mm thick at its largest point, and that’s only to make room for a USB-C port. It’s only 12.8mm thick when completely folded and has a 6.4-inch display.

It’s wafer-thin but still comes with the kind of power you expect from a flagship device. The Mate XT has 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and three crazy powerful cameras (50MP primary, 12MP ultrawide, and 12MP 5.5x telephoto). It also has a 5,600 mAh battery that supports fast charging and will keep you juiced up all day.

As amazing as the phone sounds, it’s unlikely to be available outside of China. It’s on sale for 19,999 Yuan, or about $2,800. U.S.-based fans will, sadly, have to wait for another Tron-worthy phone to hit the market.

  • Real-world images of HUAWEI’s apparent triple-screen foldable phone have appeared online once again.
  • The images show HUAWEI’s consumer group CEO purportedly using the device in a folded state.
  • The device also seems to be pretty thin for a dual-folding foldable phone.

We’ve heard rumors for months now that HUAWEI will launch a “triple screen” foldable phone featuring two hinges (enabling two folds). A HUAWEI executive was spotted with this apparent device earlier this month, and it looks like the same executive has been pictured with the radical foldable once again.

The popular WHYLAB Weibo account posted two images showing HUAWEI consumer group CEO Richard Yu purportedly using the triple-screen foldable phone. This time, however, we get a look at the apparent device when it’s folded. Check out the shots below.

These images suggest that the dual-folding device could be comparable in thickness to many conventional foldable phones. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s thinner than some devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 or older foldables. We can also make out a substantial rear camera bump here.

A big reason to keep an eye on dual-folding foldables is because they can theoretically offer a larger folding screen than a conventional foldable. In fact, it’s believed HUAWEI’s device will offer a 10-inch folding screen, dwarfing the 7.6-inch to 8-inch panels seen on current foldable phones. So this device could be a true replacement for your large-screen tablet.

There are a couple of potential downsides to this design, though. This includes the aforementioned thickness, the possible presence of two display creases due to the use of two hinges, and increased component costs due to the larger screen and additional hinge.

Leaker Digital Chat Station most recently claimed that HUAWEI’s triple-screen foldable could launch next month. So you might not have to wait too long to get an official look at this device.
