Is Writing for Newspapers Still a Good Career Path?

For anyone who saw All the President’s Men, dreaming of being a journalist or newspaper writer was a top goal for a lot of people. The industry has changed a lot since then and you might be wondering is writing for newspapers still a good career path?

How to Successfully Break Into Journalism in 2024 Free Webinar

It’s no secret that the internet has changed how people consume information.

More and more people are turning to online resources to get their news, stories, and information. While more and more newspapers are including a digital element, there are still some that are holding strong to print.

If you include magazines as well, there are quite a few options out there.

You’ll also have to decide what kind of writing you want to do for newspapers. While journalism is the most well-known, there is also editing, digital options, brand journalism, editorials, and so on.

Let’s go through the pros and cons of jumping into this industry.

Is writing for newspapers still a good career path?

No matter what, the written word will always be important. Whether it’s used to tell stories, inform the public, or keep people up-to-date on a certain industry, the written word will never go away.

It may or may not take different forms as time goes on, which is why people might still be wondering if it’s worth pursuing writing for newspapers.

If you’re still wondering whether writing for newspapers is a good career path, let’s take a look at the current landscape along with the pros and cons of choosing such a career.

The current stats

While people can debate whether The New York Times still has the same reputation as it did in the past, there’s no doubt it’s one of the most well-known papers. We’ll use it to analyze some of the current salaries and employment stats.

According to Glassdoor, the average salary for a journalist there is currently $80,278, which is higher than the national average for a journalist at $52,409.

Keep in mind, they only employ about 1,700 journalists.

Across the United States, there are currently 46,700 news analysts, reporters, and journalists with a predicted 6% increase in growth.

Now, something to keep in mind is that not all people who write for newspapers are necessarily journalists. Some people are experts in their field and have a column, or maybe they just have an interesting story to tell and get to write for a local paper.

Along with writers, there also editors, photographers, videographers, and so on. Including those jobs, there are over 114,000 total employees.

All of this is to say it’s not exactly a career that has disappeared off the map yet.

Is Writing For Newspapers Still A Good Career Path?Is Writing For Newspapers Still A Good Career Path?

Pros of writing for newspapers

One of the most obvious pros to writing for newspapers is that you’re able to stay on top of current events and tell important stories.

You’ll be able to find and report on stories that matter to either your local community or to the world at large. This might also put you in touch with fascinating people and can give you insight into the world around you.

You can write general news or you can specifically report on a certain industry or niche.

If you love the prestige of getting your byline in a famous paper, all of the hard work to get there might be worth it for you. For some people, getting to work with the big-named papers is enough of a reason for them to persevere.

Having major bylines can also help you get better writing gigs in the future. For example, major book publishers are more likely to give a book deal to someone with credible bylines versus an unheard of writer.

Cons of writing for newspapers

One problem that the industry as a whole is facing is falling employment. Since 2008, U.S. newsroom employment has fallen 26% according to the Pew Research Center. The good news here is that digital-native news organizations are growing.

Countless journalists have been sharing stories about not being able to make it work on their low incomes. This article, which includes a story from David Rosenfelt who was a journalist for two decades, couldn’t make it work on his $45,000 a year salary.

Even if you choose to go the freelance route, for smaller publications you will often find that articles are paid under $100 each. That’s not even including the amount of time you’ll need to spend sending pitches and getting on the radar of editors to get those pieces in the first place. (To perfect your pitch, use this template.)

On top of all of this, payment terms can be fuzzy at best. Some magazines can take months to not only publish your piece but to pay you as well.

There is no doubt that it is a stressful job. You need to be on top of what’s happening, keep up with sources, and often forget about much work-life balance. It’s not a career that often fits within the 9-to-5 job. You’ll often have to talk to people, hit close deadlines, or write after hours and on weekends.

You might also need to do internships and find ways to work for free to get your foot in the door. That’s not an easy feat for everyone to pull off.

Media as an industry in general is a tumultuous industry. There are constant layoffs and major companies buying out different papers. If you want a stable job where you can depend on your workload for years, this might not be a good choice for you.

How to get into the newspaper writing industry

With all of the above being said, if you’re still interested in getting into the industry, there are a few things you’ll need to know.

Currently, 74% of journalists have a journalism degree. As opposed to being a freelance writer, journalists usually have specific training and degrees in the field. Only 4% have other degrees and still work as a journalist.

If you simply want to write articles for newspapers without necessarily being a journalist, you want to find a unique angle to start to pitch to editors.

For example, you could become a brand journalist (also called corporate journalism or corporate media) where you report on brands and companies.

The most important thing is to start building a body of work to send to editors so they can get an idea of your work, your writing style, and the various topics you cover.

What is Connections?

The NYT‘s latest daily word game has become a social media hit. The Times credits associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu with helping to create the new word game and bringing it to the publications’ Games section. Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices and require players to group four words that share something in common.

Each puzzle features 16 words and each grouping of words is split into four categories. These sets could comprise of anything from book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though multiple words will seem like they fit together, there’s only one correct answer. If a player gets all four words in a set correct, those words are removed from the board. Guess wrong and it counts as a mistake—players get up to four mistakes until the game ends.

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Additionally, each group is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share the results with your friends on social media.

Evolution Of Augmented Reality In Past, Present And Future

Evolution of Augmented Reality in the Past, Present and Future

Augmented Reality is an advanced technology that enables users to interact with the digital world using real-time objects.
It is a direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment, whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory inputs such as graphics, sound, video, or GPS data.

AR boosts the view of the real world using digital technologies like Videos and 3D models.

Today, in this blog, we will be discussing the history of Augmented Reality, how AR is impacting the present world and how it will be in the near future.

AUGMENTED REALITY Overview

Evolution of Augmented Reality in the Past or History of AR:

  • In 1968, when computer scientist and Harvard professor named ‘Ivan Sutherland; teamed up with his student Bob Sprowle to create ‘The Sword of Damocles’ or the first head-mounted display, we discovered the initial stages of Augmented Reality technology.
  • In 1974, the next biggest development in AR was done by Myron Krueger. This project is named as ‘VideoPlace’ that combines video cameras and projection system in order to produce shadows on the screen. This setup seems to be in an interactive user environment.
  • In 1990, Tom Cadell, a Boeing Researcher, has officially used the term “Augmented Reality”.
  • In 1992, Louis Rosenberg, who worked in the USAF Armstrong Research Lab had created the first real operational AR system called ‘Virtual Fixtures’. A robotic system keeps data above the work environment of the workers. This system can be considered as an early version of currently doing AR systems
  • In 1994, In order to use AR, the first theatrical production was created. “Dancing in Cyberspace” was created by Julie Martin and featured acrobats in and around virtual objects on stage.
  • In 1999, NASA used the Hybrid Synthetic Vision System, which integrated AR technology into their X-38 space craft. AR was used to help develop navigation during flights testing.
  • In 2000, a major breakthrough in AR was made when Hirokazu Kato of the NIST, Japan (Nara Institute of Science and Technology) was established and released software with the name of ‘ARToolKit’. This software helps in capturing real-world actions and integrate with the communication of virtual objects.
  • In 2003, the NFL Company utilized the Skycom, which is great for aerial views of the industry to insert a virtual down marker.
  • In 2009, along with Robert Downey Junior, Esquire Magazine has used AR in their print media. Readers can see AR content when using their software on the computer to scan the barcode on the magazine.
  • Thankfully, in the same year, ARToolKit made AR technology accessible to all internet browsers.
  • In 2013, Volkswagen used AR as their car manual. Using the MARTA application on the iPad helps customers see the vehicle’s internal performance so service mechanics can find out what they are dealing with.
  • In 2014, the world largest company, Google had created a Google Glass with AR and made available to consumers. But, it wasn’t successful in the global market as developers expected. So, Google has withdrawn its Google Glasses in Dec 2015.
  • In 2016, Augmented Reality became a sensation in the world as it entered the day to day life of humans through games. AR gamed named “Pokemon Go” became popular and more than 100 million people were downloaded this game via apps stores.
  • The game allows users to watch Pokemon characters bounce in their hometown. The main aim of this mobile gaming application is to capture pocket monsters and use those monsters to fight with others locally, in Augmented Reality gyms.

  • In 2017, IKEA launched an AR-based app with the name of IKEA Place, which completely transforms the retail industry soon. This application enables customers to see their house decoration option with IKEA furniture before buying a product.

  • In 2018, again, a mobile game with the name of “Harry Potter: The Hogwarts Mystery” has become the more popular across the world. Along with entertaining people, especially kids, this app also creates a feel like Hogwarts around them, while being able to cast spells and learn from Hogwarts teachers. This app has downloaded by over 10 million people so far from Google Play Store.
  • In 2019, a football club incorporated Augmented Reality into audience experience on its stadium, immersing the Manchester City tour in an occasion of its 125th birthday.  The audience would be able to interact and sit next to Manchester City manager named, ‘Pep Guardiola’ at the top bench of the press conference. In addition, the tour features 360-degree movie screen and 3D holographic content, which is designed to provide an amazing experience for fans.

Let’s discuss

Evolution of Augmented Reality in the Present:

Today, Augmented Reality is at the forefront and is known as one of the most promising technologies. When someone uses the word “AR” these days, most people immediately look at their smartphone.

  • Now, let’s have a look at some of the examples that are splashing into our everyday lives. If you are at your favorite music concert and would like to know it will be playing next, just point your mobile device at the exhibitor and can find real-time information on announcements, upcoming shows, and ticket discounts and offers.
  • I think most of you troubled some times when reading small letters on your medicine prescription bottle label. Don’t worry! Augmented Reality has completed this changed. Now, patients can get easily get the information like dosage, expiry date, side effects, ingredients used in the medicine, etc through 3D glasses that are made of using AR.
  • Are you a sports lover and watches sports with your friends? If you would like to know the athletics statics while watching game, just point your Smartphone at the coach or player and you will get sports insights and information – as same as you browse on the internet. All this is all happens with AR.
  • If you want to purchase clothes by just sitting at home, and at the same time, you want to make a trail with your preferred clothes, AR helps you out! Thanks to AR technology, now you can try clothes virtually and can see on a screen whether the color suits and size fits you. If everything is fine, you can place an order.

In addition, there are plenty of social advantages to Augmented Reality technology, which I can’t mention all those in this article. You can take the Pokemon Go craze as an example. It carried thousands of people out of bed and ran around, which was great for obesity. AR also supports police catch criminals and people address issues like depression and illnesses.

Evolution of Augmented Reality in the Future:

AR and VR are the most buzzing words in the world and it is well recognized as a new, innovative and creative way for brand awareness and customer engagement. Being a techie is an amazing thing. Undoubtedly, Augmented Reality has unlimited power and potential.

According to the researchers, tablets and smart phones will not be the only platform for Augmented Reality in the future. Research into the inclusion of AR functionality in contact lenses and other wearable devices continues rapidly.

The main aim of AR is to build an intuitive and convenient involvement, so there is a perception that smartphone will be replaced, but not sure what that re-establishment will be. Even Glasses are also getting a new look as “smart glasses” are developed for the blind.

Future of Augmented Reality

We categorize the various industries that see increased AR activity in the near future. Look at the following:

  1. AR in E-Commerce  — Almost all the ecommerce companies will be integrating augmented reality into their mobile apps and websites. In the retail industry, it leads the user to smoothly “dress” applications in jackets, sunglasses, jewelry, and footwear through phone camera
  2. AR in Digital Marketing — Augmented reality continues to enhance the way customers engage with business brands. Marketing AR appears in gaming applications, street signs, interactions, and packaging with some other products.
  3. Educational Resources — Educational researchers are trying to find better and simple ways to use augmented reality in training situations that makes students understand well. The healthcare and military industries are striving to develop good AR training simulators.
  4. AR in Geolocation  — The efficiency of mobiles/tablets that informs us about our surroundings is greatly developed over time. AR helps everything from restaurant suggestions to real-time travel consultants.

Wrapping Up

Augmented reality is impacting the current world at a rapid speed and every industry moves vertically. It will be used by everyone, including professionals and consumers, for years to come. It is becoming an important tool for educational purposes in schools/colleges across the globe.

AR certainly offers endless promises and when combined with mobile device technology, it definitely proves to be very powerful. AR allows for geo-tracking that gives users amazing experiences.

Hitachi Rail Advances Real-Time Railway Analysis With AI

Hitachi Rail, a global transportation company powering railway systems in over 50 countries, is integrating NVIDIA AI technology to lower maintenance costs for rail operators, reduce train idling time and improve transit reliability for passengers.

The company is adopting NVIDIA IGX — an industrial-grade, enterprise-level platform that delivers high-bandwidth sensor processing, powerful AI compute, functional safety capabilities and enterprise security — into its new HMAX platform to process sensor and camera data in real time.

By removing the lag time between data collection and analysis, the HMAX platform will enable Hitachi Rail clients to more quickly detect train tracks that need repair, monitor the degradation of overhead power lines and assess the health of trains and signaling equipment.

Hitachi Rail estimates that proactive maintenance costs around 7x less than emergency repairs done after infrastructure fails unexpectedly. Its existing AI monitoring systems are already reducing service delays by up to 20% and train maintenance costs by up to 15% — and are cutting down energy consumption by decreasing fuel costs at train depots by up to 40%.

With real-time analysis using NVIDIA IGX and NVIDIA Holoscan platform for sensor processing, the company aims to further increase these savings.

“Using previous digital monitoring systems, it would take a few days to process the data and discover issues that need attention,” said Koji Agatsuma, executive director and chief technology officer of rail vehicles at Hitachi Rail. “If we can instead conduct real-time prediction using NVIDIA technology, that enables us to avoid service disruptions and significantly improve safety, reliability and operating costs.”

NVIDIA IGX Powers Real-Time AI Engine

Building on its existing collection of HMAX applications — which are currently running on data from 8,000 train cars on 2,000 trains — Hitachi Rail has used NVIDIA IGX and the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform to create new accelerated AI applications to help operators monitor train fleets and infrastructure. NVIDIA AI Enterprise offers tools, pretrained models and application frameworks to streamline the development and deployment of production-grade AI applications.

These applications, available soon through the HMAX platform, can be used by the company’s international customer base to process huge quantities of data streaming from sensors onboard trains, taken from existing systems or imported from third-party software already in use by the customer.

In the U.K., for example, each Hitachi Rail train has sensors that report nearly 50,000 data points as frequently as every fifth of a second. AI infrastructure that keeps pace with this data flow can send train operators timely alerts when a component of a train or rail line needs maintenance. The AI insights can also be accessed through a chatbot interface, helping operators easily identify trends and opportunities to optimize maintenance schedules and more.

“If a potential issue isn’t identified and fixed promptly, it can result in a service disruption that causes significant economic loss for our customers and impacts the passengers who rely on these transit lines,” Agatsuma said. “NVIDIA AI infrastructure has enabled us to get immediate alerts on thousands of miles of railway for the first time, which we anticipate will reduce delays and disruptions to passenger travel.”

Driving Benefits Down the Track

The opportunities go beyond monitoring trains and tracks.

By mounting cameras atop trains, Hitachi Rail can monitor power lines overhead to identify degrading electric cables and help prevent disruptive failures. Traditionally, it takes up to 10 days to process one day’s worth of video data collected by the train. With NVIDIA-accelerated sensor processing, data can be processed in real time at the edge, sending only relevant information back to operational control centers for analysis and action.

Teens Say John McEntee, Trump’s Former Personal Aide and Project 2025 Higher-Up Made Them Uncomfortable in Chats

When Grace Carter heard from the Right Stuff’s account on Instagram, the person controlling the account introduced himself as John. He also offered a phone number with a Southern California area code—one a WIRED reporter has used in the past to contact McEntee.

There was no obvious reason why he would have reached out to her in particular. At the time he contacted her, Carter had about 17,000 followers on TikTok, she says, and still has only a modest 1,500 on Instagram. “I actually have no idea how he found me,” she says. “Based on the other accounts I follow and things I post, it’s very leftist. So I was surprised when he found me.”

Carter says she never used McEntee’s phone number, though she did accept his offer of a free branded hoodie. While messages viewed by WIRED indicate that Carter sparsely responded to McEntee, he repeatedly offered to fly her and a girlfriend to Los Angeles. “My treat,” he wrote.

“I remember I told my boyfriend about it and I was joking that he was going to be the other girl,” says Carter, who says that she continued to talk to McEntee as a kind of “trolling.” “I was like, I could use a free trip, that’s initially why I kept the conversation going.”

In messages seen by WIRED, McEntee says to Carter, “I think you’re a liberal,” but tells her, “As long as you’ll be fun I don’t care.” The conversation, she says, died out after Carter declined to visit McEntee over her winter break.

“I would have been uncomfortable with him in person,” she says.

Following the presidential debate on September 10, McEntee posted a video saying, “Can someone track down the women Kamala Harris says are bleeding out in parking lots because Roe v. Wade was overturned? Don’t hold your breath.” The comments section of that video were soon flooded with women across the country sharing their experiences.

It was this post that Carter says made her feel like it was important to share her experience. “That video he made about abortions really upset me,” she says. “And I was just like, it needs to be called out.” Carter posted a video on TikTok sharing her messages with McEntee, and says that she has received messages from several other young women who allege similar experiences.

One of those women, who spoke to WIRED and asked to remain anonymous because she’s concerned about her security, says that she connected with McEntee on the Right Stuff dating app before moving to texting him. The number provided matched the one given to Carter and the one used previously by a WIRED reporter; messages reviewed by WIRED also included selfies that clearly appear to be of McEntee. Like Carter, she was 18 at the time.

“I would label myself as semi-conservative,” the young woman says. Unlike Carter, she knew who McEntee was, and at first thought his profile on the app was an example for users, as opposed to his actual account. (Last year, a series of TikTok videos showed McEntee going on first dates with women he matched with on the app in various cities.) “I had seen him on TikTok. I’d see him on the news. My family is quite conservative, so I had seen him before.”

3D Architectural Rendering: How Your Company Shapes Mood, Weather, and Season

3D architectural rendering is a critical tool that generates visual representations of different designs. Thanks to this technology, designers can breathe life into their ideas and present them in a way closest to reality. Setting the right mood is one of the most important aspects of 3D architectural rendering services, which involves the use of the right weather and season.

These factors do significantly affect the overall feel and look of 3D architectural renders. These evoke emotions, propose a unique story, and set the overall mood. For instance, a blue-skied sunny day and lush green grass can create an inviting and cheerful ambiance. On the other hand, dark clouds on a stormy day can depict a sense of despair and gloom. The weather and season also play a critical role in establishing the specific time of day and substantially impact the shadows and lighting in the scene.

Weather and season can also be used to improve the scene’s design features. For instance, if the architectural design showcases a modern house with huge windows and clean lines, a clear sunny day will highlight these features by forming an airy and bright atmosphere. Meanwhile, if the design features a lovely rustic cabin in the middle of the woods, the warm and cozy atmosphere of the area is better emphasized during a snowy winter day.

How to choose the right weather and season for 3D architectural renders

Several factors must be considered when the architectural 3D architectural visualization expert determines the right weather and season for your 3D architectural renders. Would you like to produce an inviting and cheerful atmosphere or evoke a sense of intrigue and mystery instead? Different types of weather and seasons can help you create various moods. If you will be joining a competition for architectural design, for example, the top secret for persuading the jury is to use a sunny daytime view.

Think of the design features

The scene’s design features are vital in choosing the appropriate weather and season for your 3D architectural render. If a beach house with an outdoor patio and floor-to-ceiling windows is featured in the scene, blue skies during a sunny day and waves lapping on the shore can stimulate a welcoming and relaxing ambiance. If a Gothic castle featuring dark stone walls and towering spires is showcased in the scene, a stormy night with lightning in the background can portray danger and foreboding. However, remember that mood may vary in several situations, so be sure to keep it in mind.

Consider the story

The message or story the scene wishes to convey is another essential factor to consider when deciding on the weather and season the 3D rendering designer will use for your 3D architectural render. For instance, if your scene shows a futuristic city that uses advanced technology and sleek, towering skyscrapers, the easiest way to emphasize the optimistic and bright future represented by the city is to use a sunny day with cloudless blue skies.

But if the scene presents a complete wasteland after the apocalypse with desolate landscapes and remnants of buildings, for example, a stormy day with the skies covered with dark clouds and strong winds might accentuate the dangerous and bleak setting.

Different types of weather for 3D architectural renders

Since you now have an idea about the importance of weather and season in 3D architectural renders, it’s time to learn more about the different types of weather a 3D rendering company can use in your 3D architectural renders:

1.  Cloudy

A cloud day features subdued shadows and diffused light to create an even and soft environment. This particular type of weather is recommended for interior architectural renderings since it will cut back the harsh shadows and improve the details. It also represents a contemplative and peaceful mood perfect for wellness or healthcare projects. On the other hand, most exterior architectural views feature a cloudy mood as this helps convey the supremacy of infusing feelings of the object’s power, as in the case of high-rise buildings.

2.  Foggy

The 3D visualization service can also use fog to set the atmosphere and mood of 3D architectural renders. Misty landscapes, diffused and soft light, and muted colors represent foggy weather best. The use of cool blue tones combined with a sense of distance helps stimulate a sense of intrigue and mystery. Fog is also one of the ideal options for scenes that highlight enchantment, fantasy, and magic.

3.  Rainy

You can use rainy weather to create a sense of atmosphere and mood in 3D architectural rendering projects. Wet surfaces, puddles, and dark, stormy skies are common features that represent rain. The use of moody and dramatic lighting helps produce a sense of suspense and tension. The use of rain is ideal for scenes emphasizing drama, intrigue, and mystery.

4.  Snowy

3D architectural renders use a snowy day for holiday or winter-themed scenes. This particular weather features snow-covered surfaces, snowfall, and icicles that create a pristine yet cold atmosphere. Snowy weather also lends a layer of visual interest to the outdoor scenes that highlight the design’s details and create a sense of contrast and depth.

5.  Sunny

A sunny day is undoubtedly one of the most common weather conditions used by 3D architectural design experts. A sunny day with bright sunlight and clear blue skies produces a radiant atmosphere. This particular weather is perfect for outdoor architectural renderings that showcase the design’s details in full light. It also produces an optimistic and cheerful mood ideal for promoting your real estate listings and projects.

Aside from the different types of weather, seasons used for 3D architectural rendering projects also vary. These include the following:

1.  Fall

The fall season is a time of nostalgia, transformation, and change, making it an excellent option for scenes focusing on sentimentality, transition, and reflection. It is best represented in 3D architectural renders using leaves with changing colors, cool and crisp air, and misty mornings. The 3D architectural modeling professional uses deep, rich colors and warm golden light to help evoke a sense of comfort and coziness. Fall is also the best season to choose if indoor spaces such as kitchens, living rooms, and fireplaces are being showcased.

2.  Spring

Being a season of growth and renewal, spring is a great choice for those scenes that focus on new beginnings, optimism, and freshness. Warm and soft light, greenery, and blooming flowers represent the spring season in 3D architectural rendering projects. Using a hazy and soft atmosphere combined with pastel colors can help produce a sense of peacefulness and serenity. Spring is also the best season to highlight outdoor areas like outdoor cafes, parks, and gardens.

3.  Summer

Summer is the season of vibrant colors, energy, and warmth, making it the most recommended pick for scenes that accentuate fun, joy, and excitement. Verdant green landscapes, blue waters, and bright sunny skies represent summer in 3D architectural renders. The 3D architectural rendering designer uses warm golden light to evoke a sense of enthusiasm and energy. Summer is also the ideal season to highlight outdoor spaces like backyard barbecues, pools, and beaches.

4.  Winter

Winter is the season of contemplation, reflection, and stillness, making it a favorite choice for those scenes emphasizing quietness, solitude, and introspection. Using cool, muted hues, frosty, snowy landscapes, neutral tones, and diffused soft light can help induce a sense of stillness and calmness. Winter is also the best season for showcasing indoor spaces such as cozy cabins, bedrooms, and libraries.

The Bottom Line

At the end of the day, the specific type of weather and season the architectural visualization expert choose for the 3D architectural renders will always depend on your project and its specific needs, as well as the tone or mood you wish to convey. Ensure that the season and time, the overall context of your design, and the overall aesthetic you wish to achieve are considered before you make your final decision. As long as you choose the appropriate weather and season, designers can come up with 3D architectural renders that are not only visually appealing but are also emotionally impactful and engaging.

Official Thunderbolts poster adds an unwelcome sixth finger to one of the Thunderbolts

The internet’s collective head is on a swivel these days for even the slightest whiff of AI intervention in art, and for good reason: Apparently not even big-budget productions from Marvel are immune to dodgy-looking art seeing official use, as evidenced by a new poster for the Thunderbolts featuring a character with six fingers on one hand.

Yep, look there on the bottom left: that’s a dude with six fingers, and as Gamespot points out, that character (Bob) has five fingers in a teaser for the film.

Assuming Marvel isn’t teasing a third act twist where this one particular Thunderbolt sprouts a new digit, the six-finger poster shared by the official Marvel Twitter and Instagram accounts today appears altered from its intended appearance. Interestingly, that version is the only version with the error. A more narrow version of the poster that cuts off before the sixth finger appeared in Marvel’s official blog post alongside the new teaser.
