I am attempting to update all of our outdated Nuget packages, one being the identity model. We use this for jwt token generation and validation. I want to understand the changes between all the versions so I can try and figure out what needs updating.
Issue 1
I have a small tool in my testing environment which I can use to generate tokens, however it seems that my security key is too small for HmacSha256Signature. When this was created over two years ago, was our secret just way to small. This is the code we have to create a new token.
I know my Secret from converting it from base64 is 24 bits. Was this changed or was it a flaw that Microsoft subsequently fixed? Would it be best to convert the key (which is in our api web config file) to a base64 string then we convert that to bytes? Example below:
// Secret is a base64 string
SymmetricSecurityKey securityKey = new SymmetricSecurityKey(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(Secret));
ClaimsIdentity claimsIdentity = new ClaimsIdentity(Claims);
JwtSecurityTokenHandler handler = new JwtSecurityTokenHandler();
SecurityTokenDescriptor descriptor = new SecurityTokenDescriptor
{
Audience = Audience,
Issuer = Issuer,
Subject = claimsIdentity,
SigningCredentials = new SigningCredentials(securityKey, SecurityAlgorithms.HmacSha256Signature),
IssuedAt = DateTime.UtcNow
};
if (ExpiryDate.HasValue)
{
descriptor.Expires = ExpiryDate;
}
else
{
handler.SetDefaultTimesOnTokenCreation = false;
}
JwtSecurityToken token = handler.CreateJwtSecurityToken(descriptor);
return handler.WriteToken(token);
I believe that Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(Secret) produces 32 bits which I think will help, but I am unsure if this is the correct way to go.
Issue 2
While trying to test our API, we keep failing on the validation of the token being passed through in particular when trying to get the claims principle.
The error message we keep getting is the key is missing. I am also assuming the fact we cannot seem to create a token due to the security key being to small we may also have this problem here as well. I am contemplating doing something like this in the generation of the token so this part needs not to be changed.
SymmetricSecurityKey securityKey = new SymmetricSecurityKey(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(Secret));
securityKey.KeyId = NewID;
ClaimsIdentity claimsIdentity = new ClaimsIdentity(Claims);
This way I am hoping that the security key now has a key long enough and a kid. Is this correct?
Motorola has teased a FIFA World Cup 2026 Razr to spice up its foldable lineup.
Expect the familiar clamshell Razr (likely the Razr 2025) with a new look, not new hardware.
Motorola will officially unveil it on January 6.
Motorola isn’t unveiling a whole new flagship foldable just yet, but it is adding some excitement to its lineup with a special Razr flip phone tied to the biggest sporting event on the planet.
Motorola just released a mysterious teaser video on X that has grabbed everyone’s attention. The video is mostly dark, but you can spot the FIFA World Cup 2026 logo on the Razr.
This phone looks like a special edition version instead of a brand-new device. It keeps the familiar clamshell shape from recent Razr models, probably the Razr 2025, but with a fresh new look.

This adds some much-needed variety to a market usually filled with plain black and grey phones, especially for fans getting ready for the tournament in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Before you rush to buy, keep in mind that this release is most likely just a cosmetic update. The teaser doesn’t show any new camera bumps or major design changes that would mean a hardware upgrade.
That said, the current Razr’s external display is one of its best features, and seeing how Motorola integrates the World Cup branding into the experience — perhaps with exclusive wallpapers or clock faces — could be the real draw here.
A break from boring phones
This is a fun way to give existing tech a new twist for a big cultural event, similar to the limited editions we used to see more often with older feature phones.
Get the latest news from Android Central, your trusted companion in the world of Android
So, when can you actually see this thing in the light? Motorola has confirmed January 6 as the official reveal date.
We don’t know the price or availability yet, or whether this will be a limited edition or a wider release. But if you’re a football fan who wants a foldable phone that stands out, or if you’re just bored of the usual colors, watch for more news next week.
The New Year is almost upon us; this means it’s time to start out new and fresh and maybe make some changes and a New Years’ resolution or two.
One resolution that lots of people make is to get more organized and even if that is not your resolution this year, doing so will greatly improve how smooth-sailing your year could be in the months ahead. Here are several tips and ways to organize your life in the New Year that will calm some of the chaos.
6 Examples of Ways to Organize Your Life in the New Year
Be sure that you are putting God FIRST in whatever plans you make. Life goes a whole lot smoother when HE is in charge!!! <3
Start meal planning
If you don’t already, the new year is a great time to start. You will not only get benefits from being organized, but you will find that your grocery bill will be better under control and you probably won’t spend as much on eating out as you might spend now. Meal planning is as easy as 1, 2, 3…and just takes about a half hour or less each week.
Make a date with your papers
Most of us have a lot of paperwork (sigh) just sitting in various places around our home. Make a time to sit down and go through them and place them where they belong. Decide what is really important to keep and create a filing system for it. Make a plan for new papers that come into your home. Check out my post on organizing your paperwork for more details.
Related: Organizing your home can be so difficult. You have no idea where to begin or how to organize your home in a way that makes sense. This organizing essentials guide is the perfect solution. With real life advice, this go-to guide covers almost everything you own! Get started now and say goodbye to clutter forever!
Go spreadsheet happy
Spreadsheets can really help you stay organized from grocery lists, work-related tasks to important dates. When I first became a single mom, everything was so crazy and my life was a complete and utter disaster. I wasn’t organized in my life at all, trying to run everything by myself.
But I started creating binders for myself and this is the process that I personally took in order to get hyper-organized. Now if you look at my life, you’d think it’s boring (I do this purposely so I can have time to be used by God). <3 That’s how incredibly organized everything is! I have oodles and oodles of TIME to do whatever I want in it! It’s all because I started organizing every aspect of my life. Here’s where I started…
If you’re working, you’ll need a binder based on what you do:
The next thing I organized was all my holidays. I’d start with Christmas and Easter, as those usually are big family get-togethers and can become very stressful around those times of year. The Christmas Binder is here and the Easter Binder is here.
Also, a cheat…if you need to “buy” yourself some time as a stay at home mom, grab your kids some printable kids activities and they can play around with them while you get some things done to organize! 🙂 Check out my awesome Christian printables here!!
Make a budget
If you don’t have a budget, now is the perfect time to make one. A budget is not just about spending and saving. It is about figuring out your financial priorities and getting them in order. A budget can help you decide where you should be spending your money and where you should be saving it. Knowing where your money goes, helps you stay organized by allowing you to see the big picture before you take on more. To help you create a budget, I created an entire binder just for you! You can snag it here!!!
Make a promise to say “No”
Oh, this is a toughy for me and my personal New Years’ Resolution. I have such a hard time saying, “No.”
One way that most of our lives become disorganized and chaotic is by committing to too many obligations and events. This year, make a promise to yourself to not overbook your time. It is not only important because it keeps you more organized, but one key to staying organized is to keep your stress low and learning to say “no” will help you do that.
Pick a room to organize
While the idea of organizing your whole home may be too daunting, you can do it if you take your time. Start with one area that is really bothering you and spend just 10 minutes a day in that room organizing it. Pretty soon you will realize how far you’ve come and your whole house will be organized before you know it. If you really hate organizing, set a timer. It will really help.
Researchers studying AI chatbots have found that ChatGPT can show anxiety-like behavior when it is exposed to violent or traumatic user prompts. The finding does not mean the chatbot experiences emotions the way humans do.
However, it does reveal that the system’s responses become more unstable and biased when it processes distressing content. When researchers fed ChatGPT prompts describing disturbing content, like detailed accounts of accidents and natural disasters, the model’s responses showed higher uncertainty and inconsistency.
These changes were measured using psychological assessment frameworks adapted for AI, where the chatbot’s output mirrored patterns associated with anxiety in humans (via Fortune).
Airam Dato-on / Pexels
This matters because AI is increasingly being used in sensitive contexts, including education, mental health discussions, and crisis-related information. If violent or emotionally charged prompts make a chatbot less reliable, that could affect the quality and safety of its responses in real-world use.
To find whether such behavior could be reduced, researchers tried something unexpected. After exposing ChatGPT to traumatic prompts, they followed up with mindfulness-style instructions, such as breathing techniques and guided meditations.
These prompts encouraged the model to slow down, reframe the situation, and respond in a more neutral and balanced way. The result was a noticeable reduction in the anxiety-like patterns seen earlier.
This technique relies on what is known as prompt injection, where carefully designed prompts influence how a chatbot behaves. In this case, mindfulness prompts helped stabilize the model’s output after distressing inputs.
Unsplash
While effective, researchers note that prompt injections are not a perfect solution. They can be misused, and they do not change how the model is trained at a deeper level.
It is also important to be clear about the limits of this research. ChatGPT does not feel fear or stress. The “anxiety” label is a way to describe measurable shifts in its language patterns, not an emotional experience.
Still, understanding these shifts gives developers better tools to design safer and more predictable AI systems. Earlier studies have already hinted that traumatic prompts could make ChatGPT anxious, but this research shows that mindful prompt design can help reduce it.
It’s a bad idea to predict a year’s worth of Videogame Happenings while you are delirious with cold, but one of the advantages of being delirious with cold is that you become incapable of noticing that ideas are bad. In the brief interval before I eat a bowl of cakemix and fall asleep, here are some quick opinions about the Trends and Tribulations of 2026, mostly based on our reporting from 2025. The evergreen short version: it’s never too late to get back into amateur dentistry.

Why YouTube Is Still the Most Powerful Platform for Business Growth
For the time, energy, and effort it takes to show up online and create content, YouTube gives you the biggest return. It has more users than any other video platform, and your videos don’t disappear after 24 hours or get buried in a fast-moving feed.
YouTube allows you to create long-form, problem-solving content that can be discovered through YouTube search, Google search, and even AI tools. When done well, it positions you as the expert people turn to when they’re actively looking for solutions.
Here’s exactly how I would take advantage of YouTube moving into 2026.
Strategy #1: Solve Problems Your Ideal Clients Are Already Searching For
I’ve talked about this before, but I cannot stress this enough. Create content that solves the problems that your ideal paid clients and customers are already searching for. The problems that your ideal clients and customers are going to Google or Gemini, ChatGPT, or YouTube and actually typing in: “How do I [blank]?”
What are the problems that people are actively seeking to solve right now? Not what you think your ideal audience is searching for, and not what you know or what you think that people should be searching for.
Go Beyond Keyword Tools
I am not even necessarily talking about what the keyword research tools are telling you people are searching for. If you have an established business, and you have worked with clients, and you have a course or program, and you have had clients and students in there, you already know the problems that people are searching for solutions to.
Regardless of what the keyword research tools like VidIQ and TubeBuddy tell you, you know your client or customer more than those tools do – I guarantee it.
Get Specific With Your Topics
I’m not talking necessarily about big topics like “how to get started with yoga” or something like that. I’m talking about really specific topics like “what yoga poses are best for [blank]” or “does yoga work for [blank]?”
People want answers that are tailored to them. They want to solve these problems that they have for themselves. They’re searching for themselves. And it’s really easy to speak their language because all you have to do is look at the frequently asked questions that your clients, students, or prospective clients and students are asking you.
Those are the problems that all of the other prospective clients and students for you are going to and actually typing in somewhere to get the answers to.
Why This Matters for AI and Search Algorithms
Because of YouTube’s algorithms and because of even just Google’s algorithms and AI, when you create long-form content that actually offers up solutions that people are searching for in plain, everyday, easy-to-consume language, you are going to be ranked in the search algorithms and referenced in the AI algorithms.
You are going to be the leading expert that the AI tools are looking to for the information and content that people are searching for. So it’s not enough to simply create content that people in your niche are searching for. You have to think about what the problems people are searching to solve.
Because people who are searching for solving problems are searching for solutions. And if you have a course or a program, or if working with you in some way is a solution to the problem, you want to be the one who shows up as the thought leader, as the expert, as the person with the solutions.
Using AI Tools to Help
You can totally use ChatGPT or Gemini to help you kind of figure out what those problems are. But inside Video Brand Academy, I have a brainstorming breakthrough tool that does exactly that, but it’s trained by me. It’s trained by the curriculum within Video Brand Academy. It’s not ChatGPT just kind of making wildly confident yet wildly wrong guesses that ChatGPT tends to do sometimes.
You Already Know the Answers
If you’ve worked with clients, coached students, or run a program, you already know what people are struggling with. You’ve answered these questions in emails, DMs, live calls, and support tickets.
Those questions are not random. They’re the exact problems other people are searching for online.
Tools like VidIQ and TubeBuddy can be helpful, but they don’t know your audience the way you do. Your real-world experience will always beat keyword tools when it comes to relevance.
Specific Beats Broad Every Time
Instead of creating content around broad topics like “how to get started with yoga,” think in terms of very specific problems, like:
What yoga poses help with lower back pain?
Does yoga actually help with anxiety?
What yoga equipment do beginners really need?
People don’t search because they’re bored; they search because they want a solution. When your content speaks directly to their problem in clear, everyday language, it’s more likely to rank in search and be referenced by AI tools.
That’s how you become the expert those platforms trust.
Inside Video Brand Academy, I use a Brainstorm Breakthrough tool trained on my curriculum to help identify these problems, not generic AI guesses, but prompts rooted in real client experience.
Strategy #2: Become the Subject Matter Expert on One Product or Tool
This strategy is massively underutilized, and it’s one of the main reasons my channel grew early on.
When I started publishing consistently in 2015, I focused heavily on GoPro tutorials and editing videos. I wasn’t trying to cover everything. I simply became extremely helpful around one specific product that people were already searching for.
Why This Works (Even If You’re a Coach)
Coaches and course creators often hesitate here because they want their best teaching inside their paid programs. I get that.
But here’s the thing: being generous with your knowledge in public content builds trust faster than anything else. When you clearly understand the tools your audience uses every day, you position yourself as the go-to expert.
If you teach homeschooling, for example, become the expert on the curricula families are already researching. You don’t even have to recommend them, just explain how they work, what to watch out for, and how people actually use them in real life.
People are already researching these tools. When you show up with clarity and experience, you win.
Strategy #3: Pin Your Best Content to the Top of Your Channel
This is one of the simplest ways to use YouTube’s own features to your advantage.
Create a “Start Here” playlist and pin it to the very top of your channel.
What Goes in This Playlist
Your “Start Here” playlist should include videos that generate the strongest green flags, such as:
High retention or watch time
Strong engagement in the comments
High opt-in or conversion rates
This isn’t about showcasing your favorite videos. It’s about showcasing what works.
Fueling the Algorithm
It’s going to generate more goodwill in the algorithm, if you will. If you know that you are constantly kind of sending people to a video that has really good retention or really good engagement, those are already green flags for the algorithm. Pin that stuff to the top of your channel so that you can fuel those green flags even more.
And if you are growing your list with YouTube, which we’ll talk about in just a second, and you know there are certain videos that are driving more traffic to your lead magnets, your freebies, or even to something that you’re selling, pin that to the top of your channel.
Don’t Overthink This
The reason I say don’t overthink this is that your analytics will tell you what videos are getting the highest retention, the most engagement. And you should have a sense of: Are these attracting the exact ideal right type of person that I want to have on my channel? Are they my ideal customers?
Don’t just put what you think are your best videos at the top. It’s not there to show off the topics that you think people should watch or the things that you care about. Your analytics will tell you what’s performing best on your channel, and it doesn’t matter how many views these videos have, either.
What matters is on the backend: Are they generating more green flags, goodwill in the algorithm for you? Are they generating more leads for you? And are they attracting the ideal right client, customer, audience, viewer that you are trying to attract on your channel?
You put a lot of time and effort into the content you create, and this is a way that you can use one of YouTube’s own features to kind of game the system a little bit by putting your best-performing content right at the top of your channel.
Strategy #4: Turn Your Channel Into a Funnel
Your YouTube channel is already a funnel, whether you’ve intentionally built one or not.
The easiest way to turn it into a business asset is by consistently growing your email list.
Why Simple Lead Magnets Work Best
Cheat sheets and checklists work incredibly well on YouTube, especially when they support the tools or topics you teach.
If you’re a subject matter expert on a product or software, create a simple one-page resource that helps people use it better. That’s an easy yes for viewers.
Make sure your links are easy to find:
Put opt-ins in every video description
Use the top link in your channel’s About section strategically
Create Simple, Valuable Lead Magnets
Cheat sheets and checklists, if you follow what I said for number two, which is to become a subject matter expert on a product, like a physical product or a piece of software in your niche, make a cheat sheet or checklist for that.
Just a one-page thing. People opt in, and they download it. Now they’re on your list. It’s the easiest thing in the world for you to create, but it’s also just a no-brainer thing for people to opt into if they’re trying to learn a product or software. Why wouldn’t they download your cheat sheet or your checklist? It’s so easy.
Make Your Links Visible
You can put links in your descriptions. Links in YouTube descriptions are clickable. And you can put links to your cheat sheets, checklists, and opt-ins in every single one of your videos so that you don’t even have to think about it.
If you forget to mention it or if you mention it and then you forget to put a link in, just put it in all of your videos. Put your links to your stuff in all of your videos.
At the very top of your channel, you have a bio section or the about section. You can have multiple links in your bio, but the link at the top of your link list in your bio will be visible on the homepage of your channel. So make it a good one. Make it something that people want to opt in for.
That way, it’s easy for people to opt into your stuff, and it’s easy for you then to grow your list as you create more content and as the YouTube algorithm keeps bringing more people to your channel.
The easier you make it, the more your list grows passively as your content keeps getting discovered.
Strategy #5: Keep Your Email List Engaged With Your YouTube Content
Your email list is the bridge between YouTube and your paid programs.
For every YouTube video I publish, an email goes out to my list. That email can be reused later in evergreen sequences because most of my content stays relevant long-term.
This creates a powerful growth loop:
YouTube grows your list
Your list re-engages with your YouTube content
Your most engaged people hear about your offers
Inside Video Brand Academy, I also teach a mini course on email marketing specifically for YouTube creators to make this process simple and repeatable.
Bonus: Lean Into Your Humanness
Let me give you a quick recap on the five strategies to grow your business on YouTube in the next year:
Solve real problems people are searching for
Become the expert on one key tool or product
Pin your best content with a “Start Here” playlist
Always build your email list
Use your email list to support long-term growth
But here’s the reminder I want you to carry into 2026:
But here’s the reminder I want you to carry into 2026:
Lean into your humanness.
I love AI. I use AI. But it’s very easy to automate yourself out of connection. As platforms become more saturated with AI-generated content, being human becomes your competitive advantage.
People don’t just want information — they want connection. And that’s something no tool can replace.
InsideVideo Brand Academy, I also teach a mini course on email marketing specifically for YouTube creators to make this process simple and repeatable.
Conclusion
Growing your business on YouTube in 2026 isn’t about chasing trends or hacking the algorithm. It’s about being helpful, specific, consistent, and human.
When you treat YouTube as a long-term asset instead of a short-term content strategy, it becomes one of the most powerful growth tools in your business.
That’s one of the reasons why I have Video Brand Academy because that’s where I get to connect with other solo online business owners who are growing their channels and growing their businesses. This combined image shows Pa 30, a unique stellar remnant in the constellation Cassiopeia.
Credit: NASA/CXC
It’s never too late to solve a cold case. A new paper from Syracuse University researchers proposes an explanation for both a mysterious stellar object discovered in the year 2013 and an astronomical observation first made all the way back in the year 1181.
Yes, people were keeping track of major astronomical events in the 12th century, with one in particular recorded by multiple Japanese and Chinese star-gazers in early August 1181. It was apparently visible to the naked eye and remained a “guest star” against the backdrop of stars for a full 185 days. Given its brightness, its lifetime, and the fact that it did not roam through the sky, this can only have been a supernova that occurred within the Milky Way galaxy.
In 2013, astronomers independently discovered an object they called PA 30, which had an unusual “koosh-ball” structure, with filaments extending in all directions. The researchers call this “firework morphology.” It immediately resembled an explosion frozen in time, but it was unclear how a stellar explosion could produce that particular shape.
In 2021, scientists identified PA 30 as the remnant of the 1181 supernova, called SN 1181.
SN 1181 gave rise to this unique structure, called PA 30. Credit: Walter Scott Houston
For several years now, astronomers have believed that PA 30 is the remnant of a Type Iax supernova, the rare ‘x’ variant of the much more common Type Ia supernova. These have the unique property of not completely destroying the exploding star, leaving a so-called ‘zombie star’ behind. PA 30 has been shown to have a central zombie star as expected.
However, Type Iax supernovae are not associated with the filament structures in PA 30. What this paper proposes is that the filaments can be explained as the result of a partial supernova, one that only went through some of the steps of a full stellar explosion.
By way of an explanation, the researchers present freeze-frames of the Kingfish nuclear test detonation. They show that the nuclear detonation first looks much like PA 30, with its firework morphology—but that, just 200 milliseconds later, that structure muddied up into a chaotic cloud with no discernible structure at all.
The Kingfish explosion. Left, after 40ms. Right, after 256ms. Credit: Syracuse University, Coughlin et al.
The new paper argues that, in SN 1181, the first phase of the supernova fizzled out and left behind an unusually active zombie star at the center. This star created abnormally strong winds of abnormally heavy elements, heavy enough to easily push around the gases expelled in the first portion of the stellar explosion.
This wind could have maintained the outward velocity and coherence of the filaments formed immediately after the explosion, prolonging the firework morphology observed in the Kingfish explosion for the better part of a millennium.
This has the intriguing implication that all supernovae might undergo a fireworks phase, but that it’s simply too short-lived to be observed.
You have tried bold walls and patterned textiles, yet the room still feels unfinished. Often the missing ingredient is light, both functional and expressive.
Before you sketch pendant drops or hidden LED strips, review local wiring limits, switch heights and load calculations.
The practical checklists from The Local Electrician translate creative sketches into safe, code-compliant plans so inspiration never clashes with regulations.
Layered Illumination Basics
Approach light the same way you layer fabrics: ambient for foundation, task for precision and accent for drama. When the three coexist, colors stay true, shadows soften and architectural details pop.
Ambient – The Essential Wash
Recessed cans, pendants, and daylight combine to create a comfortable baseline that allows eyes to relax without flattening texture in vibrant interior designs.
Task – The Focus Factor
Brighter, tighter beams over work zones reduce glare and boost accuracy. Dimmable under-cabinet strips or swing-arm sconces erase shadows so chopping or sketching feels effortless.
Accent – The Storyteller
Directional spots, picture lights or plinth uplighters guide attention toward art, stone niches or that heirloom piano. Contrast instantly turns ordinary corners into conversation starters.
Pro-Level Planning
Sketch circuit runs before any drywall closes. Every junction box should earn its keep by feeding at least two layers – ambient plus either task or accent – ensuring flexibility for future upgrades.
Setting Atmospheric Tones
Great rooms feel intentional because their light adapts to mood. Consider color temperature, beam angle and reflectance, not just brightness.
Create pools of light – Low-intensity pockets invite intimacy while background zones stay readable without glare.
Vary heights – Floor lamps, eye-level sconces and lowered pendants add depth so ceilings look taller and furnishings appear sculptural.
Swap shades creatively – Sheer linen, dark parchment or smoked glass each filters photons differently, granting instant seasonal flexibility.
Avoid glare traps – Hide bare bulbs behind diffusers so skin tones stay flattering and guests remain comfortable for hours.
Lighting Individual Spaces
Entryways Welcome First
A slender chandelier paired with wall washers eliminates harsh shadows on faces and hints at the palette waiting deeper indoors.
Kitchens Drive Performance
Layer bright task bars under cabinets, high-CRI pendants above islands and toe-kick LEDs along bases. The trio ensures food looks appetising, blades stay visible and late-night snackers move safely.
Bedrooms Encourage Rest
Combine warm indirect coves, pinpoint reading lights and blackout automation. The mix supports circadian rhythms and protects partners from unwanted glare.
Ambient Versus Task
Ambient equals orientation – It fills volumes, removing trip hazards and letting furniture read at a glance.
Task equals action – Higher lux levels concentrate where precision matters, whether sorting thread or filing invoices.
Balance prevents fatigue – If the ambient is far dimmer than the task, pupils work harder. Keep the task roughly three times ambient for easy comfort.
Dim separately – Independent circuits let ambient soften for movie night while counters stay bright for popcorn prep.
Decorative Accent Techniques
Wall Grazing Drama
Mount linear LEDs close to brick or grass-cloth so raking angles exaggerate relief, delivering museum-quality dimension.
Hidden Recessed Uplight
Miniature fixtures atop tall cabinetry push soft light upward, visually extending ceilings and reducing the need for large pendants in vibrant interior designs.
In-floor Spot Surprises
Aimable uplights recessed into hardwood or terrazzo pick out sculptures, columns or giant fiddle-leaf figs, adding hospitality flair without clutter.
Smart Control Innovations
App scenes – Store morning, work and evening presets so intensity, color and shades shift together with one tap.
Voice integration – Hands full of groceries? Ask your assistant to raise entry lights to 80 percent.
Occupancy sensors – Hallways and powder rooms illuminate only when needed, trimming bills and environmental impact
Circadian cycles – Systems warm at dusk and cool at nox`on, aligning interiors with the solar day to improve alertness and sleep quality.
Choosing Ideal Bulbs
2700 K suits bedrooms, 3000 K living spaces and 4000 K kitchen prep. Cooler whites sharpen focus while warmer tones invite relaxation.
High CRI Matters
Select lamps rated 90+ CRI so reds stay rich, greens vivid and skin tones natural.
Lumen Budgeting
Think lumens, not watts: living rooms need roughly 15-20 per square foot; vanities 70-80. Accurate counts prevent both gloom and glare.
Maximising Natural Light
Enlarge apertures – Taller windows or skylights push daylight deeper, reducing electrical loads.
Bounce with reflection – Paint ceilings matte white and add mirrored furniture to scatter photons into rear corners.
Choose sheer treatments – Lightweight fabrics temper midday sun but keep valuable lux levels.
Open the plan – Fewer partitions let rays travel farther, improving wellness and energy efficiency.
Colourful Lighting Strategies
Tunable White Foundations
Fixtures that shift from 2000 K to 6500 K pivot seamlessly from candlelit dinners to energising workouts.
Accent Hues with Purpose
RGBW strips under vanities or behind headboards evoke ocean blues for relaxation or sunrise oranges for gentle waking in vibrant interior designs.
Event-Mode Overlays
Wash walls with brand colours or holiday themes. DMX tracks make dramatic transformations quick yet completely reversible.
Final Glow
When you layer, direct and automate light, every room works harder for you. A few strategic changes – dimmers, higher-CRI bulbs, reflective surfaces – reshape mood and function almost overnight. Apple is planning to release a low-cost MacBook in 2026, which will apparently compete with more affordable Chromebooks and Windows PCs. Apple’s most affordable Mac right now is the $999 MacBook Air, and the upcoming low-cost MacBook is expected to be cheaper. Here’s what we know about the low-cost MacBook so far.
Size
Rumors suggest the low-cost MacBook will have a display that’s around 13 inches in size. The MacBook Air has a 13.6-inch display, so the more affordable MacBook will likely be slightly smaller. It’s sounding like it won’t be too far off from the 13-inch MacBook Air, though.
There are no details on how thick it might be, but Apple probably won’t prioritize a thin design for a machine optimized for a low price, even though some people are hoping that it will also be ultra thin. Ultra thin usually means more engineering work and higher-cost components for the display and other parts, but it can also sometimes be achieved by removing features. A thinner enclosure isn’t entirely out of the question if Apple cuts features to reduce costs, but at the same time, reducing size leads to lower battery life, and Apple probably wants to have decent battery to compete with or outmatch cheap Windows laptops.
Since the MacBook Air can run fine with an M-series chip and no fan in an enclosure that’s 0.44 inches thick, there’s no real reason for the MacBook to be any thicker than that, unless Apple wants to add a bigger battery.
Design and Display
The low-cost MacBook will have a standard LCD display with no mini-LED technology or ProMotion refresh rate. It won’t be able to compete with higher-end laptops in terms of brightness or HDR support. It’s probably best to think of it like the low-cost iPad, which offer excellent performance but uses much older display technology.
Apple could make the low-cost MacBook in bright colors like the iMac to appeal to children and to clearly position it as a lower-cost device. There are no rumors of this, but it would also make some sense for Apple to return to the plastic casing of some of its original MacBook models.
Rumors suggest the low-cost MacBook Pro could come in colors like silver, blue, pink, and yellow.
A-Series Chip
Apple is planning to use its A18 Pro chip in the MacBook, which is a chip that was first used in the iPhone 16 Pro. The A18 Pro is built on Apple’s second-generation 3-nanometer process, featuring 8GB RAM and support for Apple Intelligence.
It’s fast and efficient, and more than capable of handling day-to-day tasks. In Geekbench 6 benchmarks, the A18 Pro offers single-core CPU performance scores at the level of the M3 Ultra, and multi-core performance scores higher than the M1 chip that Apple used in the first Apple silicon MacBook Air. Metal scores that measure GPU performance are also similar to the M1 chip Metal scores.
The A18 Pro will be equivalent to the M1 for some tasks, and faster for other tasks. Apple no longer sells the M1 MacBook Air from its own store, but it has offered the machine through Walmart at a $599 price point.
Capabilities
With the A18 Pro chip, the low-cost MacBook would be able to do anything that can be done on an iPhone 16 Pro. It would be a suitable replacement for the low-cost iPad paired with a keyboard, and it would also support Apple Intelligence features.
As of now, an iPad is essentially the only option for a low-cost portable device that can serve as a computer, but the low-cost MacBook will add a solution that runs macOS instead of iPadOS.
Tasks like browsing the web, watching videos, creating documents, editing photos, and even light video editing would be no problem. A low-cost MacBook with A18 Pro chip could play all of Apple’s iPad and iPhone games, including Apple Arcade titles, but it would not work well with high-end system intensive games.
It would also likely run apps like Final Cut Pro, but speeds for things like exporting video would not be as quick as with a more powerful Mac.
Apple probably won’t go all out on ports, and the MacBook is likely to get just a single USB-C port, though two like the MacBook Air is also possible.
The A18 Pro chip is efficient, and there’s a lot of space inside a 13-inch enclosure for a battery, so we could be looking at MacBook Air-level battery life or better. The MacBook Air’s battery lasts for up to 18 hours when watching videos, or 15 hours when browsing the web.
Price
There are no specific details on price as of yet, but Bloomberg claims it will cost “well under $1,000.” The MacBook Air is priced starting at $999, so the MacBook will need to be priced lower than that.
Apple has a 13-inch iPad Air that has a display in the same range rumored for the low-cost MacBook, and it’s priced at $799. The iPad Air has a higher-end M-series processor though, so the low-cost MacBook could be priced below the iPad Air.
The closest iPad approximation for the chip is the iPad mini, which has an A17 Pro and is priced at $499. A price somewhere between $499 and $799 could make sense looking at Apple’s existing product lineup.
Launch Timing
Apple is expected to launch the low-cost MacBook in the first half of 2026. Updates are planned for the MacBook Air in early 2026, and the low-cost model could launch sometime in that same timeframe.
If you’re thinking about picking up a computer for lightweight tasks like document editing, web browsing, watching videos, and doing homework, you might want to wait to see what Apple has in store before buying a MacBook Air, an iPad, or a more affordable Windows machine or Chromebook.
