PayPal Brings Contactless Payments to German iPhones Under New EU Rules

Earlier this month, PayPal said that it would debut contactless iPhone payments in Germany, and German iPhone users now appear to be able to use the feature. According to German site iPhone Ticker, some PayPal customers in Germany have access to PayPal as an alternative to Apple Pay.

paypal tap to pay germany
PayPal can be used for NFC tap to pay functionality just like ‌Apple Pay‌, with payments initiated in the same way. PayPal users in Germany are able to set PayPal as the default payment app over ‌Apple Pay‌, using the side button to bring up PayPal as a payment option for one-tap contactless payments in retail locations.

If PayPal is not set as the default payment method, contactless payments can be made by opening up the PayPal app.

PayPal is able to offer direct tap to pay options in Germany because the Digital Markets Act in Europe forced Apple to allow third-party apps to use the ‌iPhone‌’s NFC chip. Apple has historically restricted access to NFC for payment purposes, only allowing contactless payments with ‌Apple Pay‌.

With the new regulations, third-party apps from payment services and banks can access the full functionality of the NFC chip, giving ‌iPhone‌ users an alternative to ‌Apple Pay‌ and the Wallet app.

Germany is PayPal’s first test market, but the rollout is likely to expand to other European countries in the coming months. To use PayPal for contactless payments, German ‌iPhone‌ users will need the latest version of the PayPal app and a compatible debit or credit card. PayPal can be used in retail stores where Mastercard payments are accepted.

PayPal’s tap to pay options are limited to the ‌iPhone‌, and the feature does not work on the Apple Watch because Apple has not been required to open up NFC on the Apple Watch. PayPal won’t be able to bring the contactless payment option to the United States or other countries unless those locations adopt similar rules requiring Apple to expand NFC access.

To attract customers to use PayPal instead of ‌Apple Pay‌, PayPal is offering cashback promotions in the PayPal app, and will eventually add a pay over time feature with options for six, 12, and 24 monthly installments for purchases.

NFC access is available for banking and wallet apps in the European Economic Area, which includes the 27 European Union countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.

planetarian Snow Globe Pre-Installed Worldofpcgames

planetarian: Snow Globe Direct Download:

“planetarian: Snow Globe,” prequel to “planetarian: The Reverie of a Little Planet,” is a kinetic (digital) novel. There are no story branches based on choices. The story proceeds as if you were watching an anime or movie, or turning the pages of a novel. Enjoy a touching story with beautiful graphics and binaural audio, brought to life by the realistic and colorful performances of a talented cast of voice actors. In the near future… Yumemi Hoshino, a companion robot equipped with autonomous AI, is assigned to work at a planetarium at a suburban town department store. Yumemi, known for her diligent work, one day starts to ignore orders and repeatedly abandons her duties. This is a story about Yumemi, her co-workers, and their simple, everyday moments of happiness. COMBOLITE

Fundamentally, it’s a fairly lukewarm & inoffensive addition to an already great work: If you disliked planetarian, then Snow Globe isn’t going to do anything to change your mind. If you liked planetarian and found yourself wanting just that little bit more, then this short sequel is worth a look.  Even though Snow Globe is the prequel to planetarian, I’d still suggest starting with the latter, and then picking this up if (and only if) you just want a little bit more backstory. I feel like the musical throwbacks will land better if you start with the older title, and you’ll be less likely to bounce off of it by starting there.

Features and System Requirements:

  • Classic Key-style character designs and backgrounds with detailed art that reflect both the warmth and desolation of the world.
  • Enjoy immersive storytelling with full Japanese voice acting by the original cast, including Keiko Suzuki as Yumemi.
  • A deeply moving story set in a post-apocalyptic world, continuing the touching tale of planetarian with new events and character moments.

Top Design & Drafting Tasks to Outsource for Architects and Architectural Services Firms

Let’s be honest—architecture is not all pretty sketches and dramatic reveals of Space-Age models. Behind every blow-your-mind design is a fat stack of mundane tasks: drafting elevations, adjusting 3D models, correcting floor plan dimensions for the fifth time because a bathroom somehow encroaches on the kitchen. Ring a bell?

Architects, particularly owners of their own architectural design firms, typically find themselves wedged between their artistic vision and a blizzard of technical specifics. That’s where outsourcing to the experts at industry giant Cad Crowd comes in like a suave consultant in the midst of a disorganized site meeting—calm, productive, and with skills to make your work simpler.

Whether you’re a one-person studio designing eco-lodges or a mid-size firm juggling urban residential towers, the key is knowing what to outsource and why. So, sharpen your pencils (or, more realistically, adjust your mouse grip), and let’s explore the top design and drafting tasks that architectural firms should seriously consider outsourcing.

🚀 Table of contents

2D drafting and construction documentation

Let’s get real: no one graduates from architecture school envisioning notching door swings or marking the fire exit path. However, construction documents are what make each and every project possible. They’re important, technical, and—let’s face it—time consuming.

3d rendering of a rustic bedroom and home

RELATED: Pick the right construction drawings for project that your firm needs for engineering and architectural projects

Tasking an outside party to complete 2D drafting services such as:

  • Floor plans
  • Elevations
  • Sections
  • Reflected ceiling plans
  • MEP coordination overlays will give your internal team time to spend on higher-level design and client consultation.

Most outsourced architectural drafting services focus on producing code-compliant, permit-ready construction sets. They’ll take your schematic drawings and make them shine, usually overnight (time zone magic, anyone?). And companies that experience high-speed growth—i.e., from five to fifteen projects simultaneously—tend to find this work easiest to outsource without compromising control.

3D modeling & rendering

We all know how clients insist, “It’s difficult for me to visualize.” Here come: professional 3D models and photorealistic renderings.

But creating realistic renders with flawless lighting, shadow dance, and natural textures requires ability, tooling, and hours of your time. By farming out services such as:

  • 3D massing studies
  • Interior & exterior rendering
  • Animation flythroughs
  • Furniture and material modeling

You provide your company a dramatic boost in visual storytelling—without tapping out your team’s bandwidth.

Pro tip: There are dedicated 3D rendering services that specialize in nothing but kitchen renders. Or high-end bathrooms. Or Bauhaus-style minimalist office spaces. Mastering their niche can help turn your idea into reality sooner and better than the majority of internal generalists.

BIM modeling and Revit family creation

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is no longer a buzzword—it’s an expectation from the client and more often than not, a requirement in the contract.

If you’ve attempted to build parametric Revit families from scratch, you already know: it’s not exactly page-turning. The advantage of outsourcing BIM work is the accuracy and detail that specialists provide. You can outsource:

  • Entire BIM model creation from 2D plans
  • Clash detection and coordination models
  • Custom Revit family libraries
  • LOD 100 to LOD 500 deliverables

To offshoring professionals who do this day in, day out. That’s hours (if not days) saved, and coordination problems avoided down the line.

Outsourced BIM modeling is particularly useful during design development and documentation phases, and it is particularly important when working with engineering design experts and consultants in different time zones.

As-built drawing preparation

Got a renovation or adaptive reuse project? You likely require as-built drawings—those accurate records of current conditions. Cue the feared tape measure (or, in current times, the laser scanner) and the task of recording every nook and cranny of the building.

Instead, you can outsource it in two ways:

  • Hire a local (or your own) person to conduct a digital site scan.
  • Send the point cloud or photos to an outsourced team that converts the data into clean CAD or BIM files.

This task is often overlooked when it comes to outsourcing, but can be a real bottleneck if you’re managing multiple renovations at once. A specialist team can deliver polished as-builts in days, complete with structural and MEP elements.

Schematic design drafting

Even early-stage design work can be outsourced with the right team and a clear brief. Let’s say you’ve got a backlog of site analysis, zoning research, and conceptual sketches to convert into viable layouts. Why not outsource the initial blocking and space planning?

Many architectural firms send rough site sketches and bullet-point programs to external architectural design experts who return them with:

  • Basic massing studies
  • Bubble diagrams
  • Preliminary layouts and room allocations

This allows the firm to refine, not start from scratch. It’s particularly useful when deadlines overlap or when you’re preparing design options for client presentations.

The key here? Communication and iteration. This task is best outsourced to people you’ve worked with before—or to someone open to frequent feedback loops.

Permit set preparation and code compliance reviews

Let’s get real: building codes are the kale of the architectural world. Good for you? Yes. Fun to work with? Not often.

Coding research and documentation outsourced to skilled professionals translates to:

  • Less time spent deciphering amendments in building ordinances
  • Permit a set delivery that is quicker
  • Less redlining by city planners

Some offshore architecture teams work in U.S., Canadian, or Australian code regulations and are able to produce permit-ready drawings custom-tailored for local authorities. It’s similar to employing your own virtual compliance department.

CAD standards & template development

Your studio employs three individuals who are each utilizing three disparate title block designs and some obscure font dubbed “Helvetica-ish” when it should have an eight-figure draft standards list:

  • Title blocks
  • _LINE weights
  • _Layers
  • View templates

Keeps everyone on the same page. You can outsource this once and save a lifetime of hours later.

This is a one-time or regular chore that doesn’t require your design input but greatly enhances your team’s productivity. Bonus: Most outsourced CAD experts will freshen up your templates and libraries each year if you have them on retainer.

RELATED: How 3D rendering helps collaboration between clients and design services companies

Post-design presentation graphics

The design’s complete, the sketches are crisp—but now the client needs a slick presentation board for their investors, or a mockup of a site sign. Come in:

  • Diagrams
  • Graphics of site analysis
  • Marketing flyers
  • Infographics
  • Project portfolios

Presentation graphics aren’t necessarily hard to do technically, but they suck away precious creative juice. Instead, outsource to a graphics-aware team who can give your work that Canva-speed finesse and Adobe Illustrator-grade sophistication.

Plus, if you’ve ever spent Saturday night fine-tuning a color-coded zoning diagram, this one’s a no-brainer.

Interior detailing & joinery drawings

Detailed millwork drawings are essential for interiors. And time-consuming. Custom cabinetry, restaurant counters, hotel wardrobes—they all need precise joinery sections, material callouts, and coordination with MEP services.

Outsourcing detailing services to a dedicated joinery documentation team gives you:

  • Faster turnaround for interior packages
  • Fewer on-site surprises
  • Professional-grade, fabrication-ready outputs

This exercise is particularly helpful for companies carrying out retail, hospitality, or luxury residential interiors where detailing will make or break the design.

Quantity takeoffs and BOQs

You may think this is in the contractor’s territory, but early quantity takeoffs can assist architects in remaining within budget and impressing clients with cost-saving decisions from the start.

Works such as:

  • Material takeoffs
  • Area calculations
  • Bill of quantities (BOQ)
  • Cost estimation sheets

It can be farmed out to experts who know cost-estimating software and standards. Especially at schematic or design development phases, these reports can enhance your proposals’ competitiveness.

BONUS: Virtual design assistance

This is not one task—it’s a job. A virtual design assistant (VDA) can do a little of everything:

  • Managing files
  • Updates to drafting
  • Meeting notes for clients
  • Redline revisions
  • Research on building systems

Imagine it as your studio sidekick at home. Countless companies across the US, UK, and Australia have employed VDAs to their workforce for less than half the expense of hiring in-house junior architect talent. It’s a solution to keep your projects rolling overnight (again, hello time zones).

3d exterior renderings of a hardscape and small villa

RELATED: Pros and cons of outsourcing 3D rendering services and visualization for your company

Outsourcing doesn’t mean losing control

One of the greatest outsourcing myths? That it compromises on quality or imagination. Nope. When done properly, outsourcing:

  • Amplifies your core strengths
  • Expands your service offering
  • Boosts turnaround times
  • Reduces overheads

The secret is selecting the right partner. Begin small, set expectations, and utilize collaborative tools such as Trello, Asana, Slack, or BIM 360. Clear briefs, regular feedback, and frequent video check-ins will make your outsourced team an effortless extension of your in-house studio.

Final thoughts: Work smarter, not harder

Architecture is half poetry, half logistics. The poetry half? Keep that in-house—your creative essence, your personal style, your client connections. But the logistics? Those can be farmed out to experts who live on redlines and parametric modeling for breakfast.

Whether you’re drowning in deadlines, wanting to grow, or simply tired of working 14-hour days, strategic outsourcing can assist you in staying focused on what you do best: designing spaces that inspire, last, and delight.

So go ahead. Assign that rendering. Outsource that BIM model to the professionals at Cad Crowd. And leave your creative juice where it should be—at the center of your next work of art. Call us today and ask for a free quote.

John Wick spin-off Ballerina gets its final trailer and it’s full of fighting, fire, and Keanu Reeves

Just weeks before it’s set to hit the big screen, the final trailer for John Wick spin-off Ballerina has dropped, giving us a closer look at Ana de Armas as a deadly assassin.

The trailer, which you can watch below, opens with a voice saying, “When you think of me, you should think of fire,” before we see de Armas through the lens of John Wick’s sniper.

New pope chose his name based on AI’s threats to “human dignity”

“Like any product of human creativity, AI can be directed toward positive or negative ends,” Francis said in January. “When used in ways that respect human dignity and promote the well-being of individuals and communities, it can contribute positively to the human vocation. Yet, as in all areas where humans are called to make decisions, the shadow of evil also looms here. Where human freedom allows for the possibility of choosing what is wrong, the moral evaluation of this technology will need to take into account how it is directed and used.”

History repeats with new technology

While Pope Francis led the call for respecting human dignity in the face of AI, it’s worth looking a little deeper into the historical inspiration for Leo XIV’s name choice.

In the 1891 encyclical Rerum Novarum, the earlier Leo XIII directly confronted the labor upheaval of the Industrial Revolution, which generated unprecedented wealth and productive capacity but came with severe human costs. At the time, factory conditions had created what the pope called “the misery and wretchedness pressing so unjustly on the majority of the working class.” Workers faced 16-hour days, child labor, dangerous machinery, and wages that barely sustained life.

The 1891 encyclical rejected both unchecked capitalism and socialism, instead proposing Catholic social doctrine that defended workers’ rights to form unions, earn living wages, and rest on Sundays. Leo XIII argued that labor possessed inherent dignity and that employers held moral obligations to their workers. The document shaped modern Catholic social teaching and influenced labor movements worldwide, establishing the church as an advocate for workers caught between industrial capital and revolutionary socialism.

Just as mechanization disrupted traditional labor in the 1890s, artificial intelligence now potentially threatens employment patterns and human dignity in ways that Pope Leo XIV believes demand similar moral leadership from the church.

“In our own day,” Leo XIV concluded in his formal address on Saturday, “the Church offers to everyone the treasury of her social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose new challenges for the defense of human dignity, justice, and labor.”

AI experts are calling for safety calculations akin to Compton’s A-bomb tests before releasing Artificial Super Intelligences upon humanity

AI is an initialism I’m hearing multiple times a day lately, and usually only with a 30% hit rate of being used for the right actual thing. LLMs, such as ChatGBT and DeepSeek, are constantly in the news while we talk about putting AI in everything from our gaming chips to our schools. It’s easy to dismiss this as a pop-culture phase, just like uranium fever gripped the glove in the past with nuclear anxiety.

The comparison between launching an A-bomb and an AI algorithm might seem hyperbolic, but the Guardian has reported AI experts are calling for a safety test akin to what was put in place for the Trinity test for the first detonation of a nuclear weapon.

How to pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

The super slim Galaxy S25 Edge, which Samsung teased at the tail end of its January Unpacked event, has been officially revealed. During tonight’s Unpacked, we got full specs, pricing and shipping dates for Samsung’s latest phone, as well as a chance to put our hands on the new handset.

Pricing is set at $1,100 for 256GB of storage or $1,220 for the 512GB model and the phones ship May 30. Pre-orders are open at Amazon, Best Buy and directly from Samsung, which is offering a $50 pre-order store credit and a no-charge upgrade to the 512GB model.

Image for the mini product module

The Edge’s headline features include its thin build and AI-supported photography chops — both of which we’d suspected from various leaks, only to have the rumors confirmed by Samsung’s own press release last week. And indeed, when Engadget’s Mat Smith got his hands on an Edge, he immediately felt how much lighter the device was — yet, he noted, it still felt premium.

We now know for sure that the Galaxy S25 Edge has a 6.7-inch screen but measures just 5.8mm (0.22 inches) thick. That’s slightly less surface area than the 6.9-inch Ultra, but a full 2.4mm thinner. It weighs 163 grams, nearly the same as the standard Galaxy S25, but the Edge measures more than 10mm taller and 5mm wider than its base-model sibling.

To shave off the grams and trim the width, Samsung developed a broader yet slimmer vapor chamber and a new Thermal Interface Material (TIM) for better heat dissipation. It uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front display. It’s the first phone to use the material, which Corning says offers “enhanced drop performance on rough surfaces,” allowing for a thinner glass layer. The frame is made from titanium, like the Ultra model, a material many phone manufactures have put in higher-end models for its lightweight strength.

As for camera power, the Edge has the same 200MP sensor as the S25 Ultra, which Samsung claims captures 40 percent brighter images in low light situations compared with the standard S25. There’s also a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP selfie cam up front. Those two rear cameras do protrude noticeably from the thin frame of the phone, but Mat was impressed how well-balanced the phone felt — it’s not lopsided at all.

Of course, the phone also packs plenty of AI-powered tricks, including Pro Scaler, Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist. To support all the AI, Samsung is using the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip as the other S25 phones and comes with 12GB of memory and either 256 or 512GB of storage. It packs a 3,900mAh battery, which is smaller than both the 4,000mAh one found in the standard S25 and the 5,000mAH power supply in the Ultra. Though Samsung claims the Edge can run for 24 hours on a charge.

You can get the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icy Blue. Samsung is promising seven years of security and software updates. We only spent a short time with the phone so far and our full review will be out shortly.

Setting Goals and Staying Consistent

How to grow a small YouTube channel fast? When Sophie first started her YouTube channel, she didn’t set a specific goal for reaching 1,000 subscribers. Instead, her main focus was on consistency. She committed to publishing one long-form video every week, which drops every Tuesday morning. This consistency has been key to her growth and has helped her build a loyal audience.

After joining Video Brand Academy and implementing the strategies she learned, Sophie gained another 400 subscribers in just one month, reaching her 1,000 subscriber milestone by April.

Even more impressive? Her viewership numbers skyrocketed after hitting 1,000 subscribers, jumping from 2,000 to nearly 3,000 views in just four weeks.

While she initially struggled with slow growth, Sophie knew she needed to find a way to accelerate her progress. That’s when she decided to join the Video Brand Academy, which provided her with valuable insights and strategies to boost her channel’s performance.

The Power of Niche Within a Niche

One of the most important lessons Sophie learned on how to grow a small YouTube channel fast was the power of focusing on a niche within a niche. For her, this meant combining fertility and nutrition. Her most popular video topic has been fertility nutrition, which blends two highly sought-after subjects.

As a fertility coach, Sophie’s expertise revolves around helping women overcome obstacles to conception. Her YouTube content focuses on unlocking the missing pieces to fertility—whether that’s nutrition, mindset, or lifestyle changes. However, Sophie soon realized that to truly stand out in a competitive space, she needed to narrow her focus even further.

This led to her creating content around a very specific niche within the broader fertility space: fertility nutrition. Not only was this a unique blend of two high-demand topics—infertility and nutrition—but it also allowed Sophie to target a specific audience, ultimately leading to higher engagement and more subscribers.

By identifying this winning combination, she was able to create a series of videos that resonated with her audience and drove significant growth. This approach not only helped her gain subscribers but also increased her overall viewership.

The Spiderweb Strategy

What was the game-changer for Sophie’s channel growth? Something I call the “spider web strategy.” A technique Sophie learned from the Video Brand Academy. This approach involves taking your most popular video and building out related content from there.

Here’s how it works:

1. Identify your most popular video topic (for Sophie, this was fertility nutrition)
2. Create additional videos that expand on different aspects of that popular topic
3. Link these videos together by referencing your other related content

By building this content web around her most successful topic, Sophie created a viewing pathway that kept viewers watching longer and subscribing more often. This strategy has been incredibly effective in keeping viewers engaged and encouraging them to watch more of her content. As a result, her viewership has skyrocketed since implementing this approach.

“Every single video, I point to another fertility nutrition video. So they keep watching longer and longer,” Sophie explained. This strategic approach not only increased her subscriber count but also dramatically boosted her overall viewership.

Streamlining the Content Creation Process

As a business owner and new mother, time management is crucial for Sophie. To maintain consistency with her weekly uploads, she had to find ways to streamline her content creation process. Here’s how she does it:

1. Outsourcing Video Editing

Sophie’s background as a video editor gave her a distinct advantage when it came to training her editor. One of the most significant time-savers has been outsourcing her video editing. Sophie found a virtual assistant who matches her style and understands her vision.

Here’s how she trained her:

  1. Provide both rough cut and final edited versions of a video so your editor can see the transformation
  2. Have them try editing a rough cut on their own
  3. Provide feedback and gradually refine the process
  4. Give clear guidelines and examples of your style
  5. They went through a process of feedback and adjustments until the VA understood her preferences.

While it requires some back-and-forth at the beginning, this investment pays off as your editor learns your preferences and style.

For Sophie, this process has been incredibly effective. She’s able to record her videos, send them off for editing, and trust that the final product aligns with her vision. Plus, with the flexibility of working with an editor, Sophie can stay ahead of her content schedule, ensuring that she always has videos ready to publish.

Now, Sophie can focus on planning and recording content while her assistant handles the editing, which has been a game-changer for her productivity.

2. Efficient Recording Process

To make the most of her recording time, Sophie follows these steps:

– She creates a rough outline with bullet points for each video.

– She aims to keep her raw footage to about 22 minutes for a 10-minute final video.

– Before recording, she listens to a “hype-up” song to get into the right mindset.

– She has a checklist of technical aspects to verify before hitting record (e.g., mic placement, camera settings).

Leveraging Other Platforms

While YouTube has been Sophie’s primary focus, she’s also found ways to use other platforms to support her channel growth:

TikTok Integration

With 40,000 followers on TikTok, Sophie has created a smart cross-platform strategy that fuels her YouTube growth. Sophie hosts a weekly live “Ask Me Anything” session on TikTok every Friday. This has been a great source of content ideas for her YouTube channel. When she sees questions repeated multiple times, she creates a long-form YouTube video addressing the topic in-depth.

To drive traffic from TikTok to YouTube, she:

– Mentions her YouTube channel during TikTok lives.

– Places her YouTube link as the first button in her TikTok bio.

– Creates TikTok content that teases more in-depth information available on her YouTube channel.

When she notices questions that come up repeatedly in these sessions, she creates in-depth YouTube videos addressing those topics.

Email Marketing

Sophie sends a newsletter to her email list every Tuesday, announcing her latest YouTube video. This helps drive views and engagement from her existing audience.

Turning YouTube Success Into Business Growth

While reaching monetization milestones on YouTube is exciting, Sophie’s primary focus has been on using the platform to grow her business. Here’s how she’s integrated YouTube into her business model:

1. Offering freebies: She creates downloadable resources mentioned in her videos, encouraging viewers to join her email list.

2. Promoting her automated webinar: She directs viewers to a webinar where they can learn more about her services.

3. Mentioning her paid community: Throughout her videos, she references her “Heal to Conceive” tribe, a paid membership community where she dives deeper into fertility topics.

By using YouTube as a trust-building platform, Sophie has been able to attract clients and grow her business organically.

Advice for New YouTubers on How to grow a small YouTube channel fast

Based on her experience, Sophie offers these top pieces of advice for those just starting their YouTube journey or feeling stuck:

1. Don’t give up: Consistency is key. Keep creating content and refining your approach.

2. Utilize shorts: Incorporate YouTube Shorts into your strategy to drive more traffic to your channel.

3. Be authentic: The videos where she speaks from the heart and shows up as her true self perform the best.

Remember, growing a YouTube channel takes time and effort, but with the right strategies and persistence, you can achieve your goals. Sophie is proof that it’s possible to go from zero to 1,000 subscribers in just nine months, and she’s excited to see where her channel goes from here.

Conclusion: Start Your YouTube Journey Today

Sophie’s journey to 1,000 subscribers is a testament to the power of consistency, strategic planning, and leveraging available resources. Whether you’re a fertility coach or in another niche, the key to YouTube growth is staying focused, creating valuable content, and building a system that works for you.

If you’re ready to take your YouTube channel to the next level, start by implementing some of these strategies today. Stay consistent, find your niche, and build your spiderweb of content. You might just see your subscriber count skyrocket too!

If you want to get some of the same strategies that she’s been using like the spiderweb strategy, for example, you can find it inside of Video Brand Academy along with a ton of other growth strategies beyond just doing basic keyword research.

VIDEO: M7.7 Earthquake Leads to First Fault Movement Ever Caught on Film

The magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on March 28 has crossed a bittersweet milestone. As seen in a new video, the quake involved a strike-slip fault in the town of Thazi, where a fault rupture was caught on film for the first time.

SagaingEarthquakeArchive2025, a YouTube channel that shares smartphone and surveillance camera footage of earthquakes around Southeast Asia, published the video on May 11. The video appears to come from a security camera attached to the exterior of a prefabricated building. After the first few seconds, the building begins to tremble, and the gate at the foot of the driveway starts to slide on its track. A large crack appears in the driveway as tropical plants sway. Then, in the background, an almost unfathomable shift: The ground slips forward by what appears to be several feet.

According to Fumihiko Ikegami, a geologist at the Geological Survey of Japan, the strike-slip shift is the “first fault movement ever filmed.”

While geologists and seismologists have studied the movement of Earth’s faults for more than a century, they’ve historically worked with images and measurements of faults captured before and after their shifts—not footage of the movements themselves. For the first time, a video of the shift could help researchers understand how and when fault slips occur alongside other earthquake phenomena, like shaking and rolling.

“In 25 years (since beginning of undergrad), I have only ever seen before and after pictures resulting from fault rupture,” Reddit user u/DoctorSeis, a seismologist who has long contributed to forum discussions about earthquakes, said in response to the surveillance camera footage. “These ruptures are super common around strike-slip faults (like San Andreas). Never have I seen [a] rupture like this, this close, this big, in action. It’s incredible.”

Despite the video’s value to geoscience, the earthquake itself—which has been reported as both M7.7 and a M7.9 by various geoscience organizations—is invariably considered one of the most devastating in Myanmar’s history. Regional news outlets reported more than 4,900 fatalities, 6,000 injuries, and 760 missing persons; the destruction of over 12,000 homes, 1,000 government buildings, and 50 health centers has also launched the country into a humanitarian crisis.
