The best online photo editors: Expert tested and reviewed

Professional photographers need an extensive range of photo editing tools alongside their camera kits, lenses, and accessories.

As a professional photographer myself, I know that photo editing software is critical to my workflow to bring out the best in my images, whether to make changes to exposure and add bokeh or to add more creative effects. Adobe Lightroom is the gold standard for many photographers, but many alternative online photo editors are also excellent options, and some now also utilize AI

Among my favorites are Pixlr, Adobe Lightroom, and Canva. We have a great selection of options for you to test out, depending on your online photo editing needs.

What is the best online photo editor right now?

The ZDNET team has worked with photo editors for decades, from the most basic software reminiscent of Microsoft Paint in its early days to professional-grade editing suites, including Adobe Photoshop. Thanks to mobile technologies and AI, the photo editing industry continues to evolve, so we are continually testing market offerings to stay informed.

Our favorite online photo editor is Pixlr. While its free offering is limited, Pixlr is affordable and provides a range of useful photo editing tools alongside AI for experimentation. If you want to try it out, prices begin at $1.34 per month.

To find the most suitable online photo editor for you, check out our top picks below.

If you’re looking for a powerful online photo editor, Pixlr is an option you should check out.

Pixlr heavily promotes AI image editing and generation, as you can see from all of its marketing. But if AI isn’t for you, you can still use a wide set of tools to quickly edit individual photos, with features including filters, pens, brushes, erasers, cropping, layering, and more available.

During testing, I found the editor very easy to use — but it would help if you have experience in photo suites such as Photoshop, as the layout is quite similar. As a bonus, this online platform supports PSD file uploads. But, as many users note, you may find the daily limit of three saves for free frustrating.

When it comes to AI editing, in my opinion, it doesn’t beat traditional editing processes and is sometimes clunky — but it is still fun to use.

There are two plans available: Plus and Premium. The Plus plan, available for $2.24 per month or $1.34 per month on an annual plan, is ad-free, grants unlimited saves, and 80 monthly AI credits. Alternatively, you can pay $7 per month (or $4.54 per month on a yearly plan) for a Premium subscription with 1,000 monthly AI credits, access to an editing resource library, and a private mode for AI image editing and generation.

A seven-day free trial is available.

Fotor should be on your radar if you want an online photo editor focused on creative effects and filters.

Once you’ve signed up with an email address and verified yourself, you can access a massive range of editing tools, including batch editing, graphic design, image generation, collages, and auto enhancement. I found the software very easy to use, albeit slow, and I liked exploring the range of templates and filters available.

However, in the same way that AI has proven less than reliable in the creativity department, don’t expect a perfect result if you rely on AI alone. Frankly, some of the edits generated were comical. Despite this, I think Fotor is a fun online suite, regardless of whether you pay.

However, some customers have reported billing issues, and free edits are often limited to preview sizes only with watermarks.

To access advanced editing tools, you will need to subscribe to either Fotor Pro or Fotor Pro+. You will have access to ad-free editing, a wider range of AI tools and templates, between 2GB and 10GB of cloud storage, and brand kits. Prices begin at $3.33 per month for Fotor Pro on an annual plan. Monthly plans are expensive, starting from $9 per month.

A seven-day trial is available.

Fotor featuresEditing options: A huge range including filters, AI tools | Mobile? Android, iOS | Cloud backup? 2GB – 10GB | PSD support? No | AI?: Yes | Free option? Yes | Price: $3.33+/month

Adobe’s creative products are the gold standard in photography and among its offerings is a web option for the Lightroom photo editing suite.

I’ve used Adobe Lightroom for years as a professional photographer, and although generative AI training has caused many subscribers concern, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom are still extremely popular.

If you need an online option, Lightroom for the web is part of the overall Lightroom package. While AI tools are available, Lightroom specializes in traditional edits and fine-tuning, including contrast and exposure, cropping, masking, sharpening, blur, and color profiling.

There is no free version and so you will need to subscribe. Lightroom alone (on desktop, mobile, and the web) is $12 per month, or you can combine Lightroom and Photoshop for $20 per month. You could also opt for access to Adobe’s full creative suite — including apps such as Adobe Express, Firefly, and Illustrator — for $60 per month. Annual plans are also available.

A demo or seven-day trial is also available online.

One of our favorite free online photo editing solutions is Photopea.

Adobe Photoshop users will be the most comfortable using this web photo editor as the layout, tools, and menus are very similar. This does mean that Photopea might be a bit daunting at first for those new to photo editing, but taking on the learning curve is worth it.

I enjoy using Photopea and appreciate that you don’t need to go through a lengthy sign-up process or hand over any details to use the platform. Editing features on offer include cropping and resizing, cloning, erasing, brushes, blurring, layering, filtering, masking, and more. PSD support on a free program, too, is a massive bonus.

Photopea is ad-supported, which means that you can use the editor for free. However, you can remove these distractions by paying $15 for three months.

If you want an online photo editor for marketing and social media purposes, Canva could be the most suitable option for you.

Canva made it onto our recommendations list as more than a standalone photo editor — it is a community of designers and creatives that have pooled resources to help you create and maintain a brand, as well as produce images and videos for online purposes.

Don’t expect much in terms of advanced photo editing with Canva; instead, this is an option if photo editing is part of a wider marketing push. Still, you can crop and resize images, adjust exposure, light, and contrast; apply filters, and experiment with creative effects.

A 30-day premium trial is available. If you would like to sign up for a monthly subscription, Canva will cost you $15 per month. Alternatively, annual plans are cheaper (but require upfront payment) and are the equivalent of $10 per month.

Canva featuresEditing options: Basic image editing, marketing tools | Mobile? Android, iOS | Cloud backup? 1TB (paid) | PSD support? Yes | AI?: Limited | Free option? Yes | Price: Free – $10+/month

I’ve worked as a professional event photographer and I always take my kit abroad with me, alongside a few smartphone lens accessories.

With over a decade of experience in this field, I understand that editing is as important as shooting raw images. Editing is my favorite part of the process.

While I often use standalone editing software during my workflow, I have experimented with online options, and many of them provide quality tools and adjustments that can vastly improve my image quality. While you’re deciding on the best choice for you, consider the following:

Choose this online photo editing software…

If you want…

Pixlr

The best online photo editing service overall. Pixlr has an intuitive interface reminiscent of Adobe Photoshop and while some learning is required, it has a range of tools for in-depth editing, alongside AI assistance. However, you will need to subscribe for unlimited saves.

Fotor

To experiment with creative effects. Fotor heavily promotes AI, and while not always accurate, it is a lot of fun to use and offers countless filters and effects. It’s a good option for marketing and brand kits, too.

Adobe Lightroom for web

A professional editing suite with workflow management. If you’re a professional photographer and you need a multiplatform option with the best editing tools on the market, Adobe Lightroom is the best option.

Photopea

A free online photo editor. Photopea offers editing tools similar to Adobe Photoshop, so you should expect a learning curve if you’re unfamiliar with the software. However, it is free and powerful, so this isn’t a huge trade-off.

Canva

A photo editing platform with a marketing twist. Canva is best suited to light, quick photo editing when your images are intended for marketing campaigns and social media.

When you’re deciding on a type of online photo editing service, consider the following factors:

  • The learning curve: If you’re new to online photo editing, you might want to start with a beginner-friendly solution. Advanced tools, including styles and layering, could complicate matters.
  • Use cases: Consider what you want from an online photo editor. Traditional stills? AI-based tweaks? Photos filtered and compressed for social media? Many services specialize in particular areas.
  • Cloud storage and backups: You might want a solution providing backup facilities and cloud storage options. Many online photo editors offer these services, but they might be hidden behind a paywall. You will also likely need to sign up for an account.
  • Free options: A free solution should be enough if you’re a casual user and only want to use online photo editing software for hobbies or basic edits such as image resizing. However, editing functions or the number of images you can alter will likely be restricted.
  • Price: You need to think about your budget and whether you want to sign up for a subscription to an online photo editor. We recommend that you consider this if you plan to use an online editor frequently or if there are tools that you particularly enjoy using.
  • Terms and conditions: Ensure that you check out an online photo editing service’s terms and conditions before you upload images. Some services, especially if they’re free, may lay claim to any photos uploaded to their servers, or may use them to train AI models.

Photo editing software created by prominent players in the photography market, including Adobe, dominates the standalone and PC software market. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t much to be said for online editing products, many of which suit different use cases and mean you can avoid being locked into long-term subscriptions to complex software.

When I was compiling ZDNET’s top picks for the best online photo editing services of 2025, I considered the following factors:

  • Licensing: Subscription models are now standard, but not everyone wants to add yet another subscription to their monthly or yearly budget, especially for an online service. I’ve included a range of subscription and licensing options, as well as very affordable options.
  • Free options: I included free online photo editor options and alternatives that do not employ subscription-based models by default. They may offer some paid premium features, such as storage or advanced editing tools, but you won’t have to pay if you don’t want to.
  • Image file type support: I want to see online photo editors able to handle different file types you may upload to their servers, including raw, PNG, JPEG, and PSD.
  • Storage: You might not need it, but I’ve included services that do offer cloud-based storage for your photos.
  • Workflows: Not every online photo editing service will offer workflow tools or dashboards, but I expect clear, efficient workflow management setups when a service is aimed toward professionals.
  • Mobile support: It’s useful when online photo editors also have mobile support. While this isn’t always available on every platform — such as Android or iOS — it’s always a bonus, especially for editing on the move.
  • AI use: I like to see online photo editing software developers exploring new technologies and techniques for improving editing, regardless of whether AI tools are available as desktop software or online services. AI can be particularly enjoyable to use in creative applications.

If you use photo editing software frequently or for business purposes, it’s usually worth subscribing to, as you’ll often be able to use paid features and receive updates.

However, if you’re a hobby photographer, you just want to experiment with creative tools, or you only need to resize or make basic edits to images occasionally, use a free online solution to begin with.

There are plenty of alternatives to Adobe Photoshop online, although they vary in sophistication, tools, and capabilities. You should expect free tools to have more limits than paid, subscription-based online services.

Furthermore, many developers don’t want to appear like Photoshop clones — they will, instead, focus their efforts on particular areas, like creative AI tools or mobile compatibility. However, if you’re looking for solutions with Photoshop-level suites, take a look at Pixlr or Photopea as a starting point.

Professional photographers, including myself, often rely on Adobe editing software suites, including Photoshop and Lightroom. However, there have been concerns over Adobe licensing terms and AI training, and so some photographers may have moved elsewhere.

Typically, we like editing suites that allow for workflow management and offer more than basic editing: styling, actions, brushes, and perhaps AI modifications are all popular.

Yes. The Google Photos app provides some basic editing functions, including cropping, image sharpening, rotating, and flipping. This app will do in a pinch, but you won’t find any advanced editing features. There’s also the AI-based Magic Editor app for Google Photos users.

If you type a query into a search engine such as “free resize image online,” you’ll find plenty of websites where you can upload your image and change its size or resolution. Options include Canva, Adobe, and simpleimageresizer.com.

Artificial intelligence is being integrated into creative and photographic applications at a rapid pace.

Now found in desktop software, mobile apps, and online photo editing services, AI can be used for batch editing and for making minor adjustments, altering backgrounds, introducing blur and bokeh, and even generating new images based on the source photos you provide.

In my opinion, AI can be fun to work with, and I’ve enjoyed exploring creative image work (and song generation) using its applications. However, it’s not a replacement for human eyes and in-depth editing.

Why Architects Outsource 3D Modeling Services and the Benefits for Your Design Company

Outsourcing 3D modeling design services is at the center of an evolving and technology-driven architectural industry with a lot of niches and specializations that could be equally as important as any, depending on the project.

It changed the way we interact and plan for spaces and objects, their hierarchy, and function within a structure – but even more, by outsourcing these services, we allow ourselves to tap many of these niches and specializations without breaking the bank. Architects and design companies realized this long ago: leveraging external expertise to enhance or execute their ideas is a boon that can elevate the design and streamline the process.

Cad Crowd has worked for over a decade to deliver the best outsourced 3D modeling talent to reputable architectural, design, and engineering companies. Here’s why you should outsource your 3D modeling services for your project.

🚀 Table of contents

3D modeling and its importance in architecture

Truly an indispensable tool in modern architecture, 3D modeling allows architects to create many designs and projects with unparalleled detail, providing accurate representations of their designs to facilitate better visualization, communication, and decision-making – there’s nothing that offers the same versatility to be certain. Traditional 2D drawings don’t even compare; 3d models provide a more immersive experience, enabling clients, stakeholders, and construction teams to understand the project’s scope and intricacies more clearly while giving you and your clients a very easy way to modify, replace, and re-do designs quickly. This is hard to do without something concrete or tangible to work with.

Primarily through the rise of Building Information Modeling services, virtual reality, and augmented reality, there is a noted increase in demand for high-quality 3D models. These newer technologies rely heavily on accurate 3d modeling; this puts pressure on architects and design firms to be able to produce top-tier 3D models and to be creative in their approach, not just in terms of the design.

Why architects outsource 3D modeling services

Outsourcing 3D modeling services is attractive for architects and design companies because it offers many compelling advantages. Not to mention, these advantages can now be considered as standards, especially in specific niches wherein an expertise or specialization can make or break the project.

  • Access to specialized expertise

The possibilities are endless when you’re able to tap into pools of specialized expertise with extensive experience in many aspects of 3D modeling and design. These professionals are often experts in the latest software, tools, and techniques, ensuring that their models are of the highest quality. More notable, though, is that these experts tend to specialize areas in design, logistics, or even rare applications that are usually not immediately available without training or preparation, even in larger design firms.

If you choose to outsource certain tasks and 3D modeling services, you’ll not only save in terms of costs but you’ll be able to leverage specialized knowledge without having to waste a lot of time and resources training someone or investing in expensive software that you might never use again.

One of the most significant benefits of outsourcing 3D modeling services is cost efficiency. Maintaining an in-house team of 3D modelers can be expensive, especially when you factor in training, benefits, and software costs. So unless your company or team is specifically tailored to create 3D models of any variety, outsourcing is a more flexible and cost-effective solution that ensures you only pay for the services when you need them. It also eliminates many overhead costs associated with maintaining a team, such as office space.

  • Scalability and flexibility

The best thing about outsourcing 3D modeling services is the high degree of flexibility and scalability. You only have to hire for what you need, and most of the time, the most skilled professionals are able to work on many project demands in high quality. Design companies can easily scale up or down their 3D modeling needs based on project demands. Whether working on a small residential project or a large commercial development, outsourcing allows companies to adjust their resources accordingly. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for companies that experience fluctuations in project volume or have seasonal peaks in demand.

The architectural outsourcing industry has been a saving grace for many companies facing many types of challenges. External 3D modeling experts’ teams often work around the clock, leveraging global time zones to deliver projects faster. Additionally, outsourcing allows architects to focus on other critical aspects of the design process, such as client communication, project management, and creative development, while experts handle the 3D modeling work.

RELATED: Proven advantages of contracting architectural CGI services for real estate marketing firms

  • Access to the latest technology

Naturally, you would want you and your team to be on top of a rapidly evolving field – often updating and developing newer and newer tools and software. It’s inevitable that keeping up with these advancements would be challenging and potentially costly for you. Fortunately, there isn’t a need to be on top of everything. In fact, it’s more prudent to hire external experts when you are faced with bespoke projects.

Outsourcing 3D modeling services gives you instant access to their skill sets and expertise without breaking the bank. The more important thing to note here is the reliability of their work as their years of experience working with peculiar software, tools, or techniques that would usually take years for anyone to learn.

  • Improved focus on core competencies

Outsourcing 3D modeling services allows design companies to focus on their core competencies, such as architectural design, project management, and client relations. By delegating the time-consuming task of 3D modeling to external experts, architects can concentrate on what they do best, ultimately leading to higher-quality designs and more satisfied clients.

Outsourcing can help mitigate the risks associated with in-house 3D modeling. External providers often have established quality control processes, ensuring that the models they deliver meet the highest standards. Additionally, outsourcing reduces the risk of project delays caused by in-house resource constraints, such as employee turnover or equipment failures. By partnering with a reliable 3D modeling service provider, 3d rendering design companies can ensure that their projects stay on track and meet client expectations.

  • Access to a global talent pool

Outsourcing 3D modeling services opens the door to a global talent pool, allowing architects to collaborate with professionals from different parts of the world. This diversity of talent can bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to architectural projects, resulting in more creative and unique designs. Additionally, outsourcing to international providers can be cost-effective, as labor costs may be lower in certain regions.

What are the benefits of outsourcing 3D modeling services for design companies?

Outsourcing 3D modeling services offers numerous benefits for design companies, enhancing their overall efficiency, creativity, and profitability. Here’s how outsourcing can benefit your design company:

Enhanced design quality

By outsourcing 3D modeling to specialized experts, design companies can ensure that their projects are of the highest quality. High-quality 3D models enable architects to visualize their designs better, identify potential issues early in the process, and make informed decisions. This leads to more accurate and refined designs, ultimately resulting in higher client satisfaction.

Increased productivity

Outsourcing 3D modeling services allows design companies to increase productivity by freeing up internal resources. Architectural firms and designers can focus on their core tasks, such as conceptualizing and developing designs, while external experts handle the technical aspects of 3D modeling. This division of labor leads to more efficient project workflows and faster completion times.

Cost savings

Outsourcing 3D modeling services can lead to significant cost savings for design companies. By eliminating the need to hire and maintain an in-house team, companies can reduce their overhead costs and allocate their budget more efficiently. Additionally, outsourcing allows companies to pay for services on a project-by-project basis, ensuring that they only incur costs when necessary.

Improved client communication

High-quality 3D models are invaluable tools for client communication. They provide clients with a clear and realistic representation of the final design, making it easier for them to understand the project’s scope and make informed decisions. Outsourcing 3D modeling services ensures that design companies have access to the best tools and expertise, allowing them to present their ideas more effectively and build stronger client relationships.

Faster project delivery

Outsourcing 3D modeling services can significantly reduce project turnaround times. External providers often work on tight schedules and have the resources to deliver projects quickly without compromising quality. This speed can give design companies a competitive edge, allowing them to take on more projects and meet client deadlines more effectively.

RELATED: What are the main types of 3D modeling, and how do companies use them?

Access to diverse skills and perspectives

Outsourcing opens the door to a diverse range of skills and perspectives that may not be available in-house. External 3D modeling providers often have experience working on various projects across different industries, bringing unique insights and approaches to architectural design firms. This diversity can lead to more innovative and creative solutions, setting your design company apart from the competition.

Scalability for large projects

Outsourcing provides the scalability needed to handle large and complex projects. Design companies can quickly ramp up their 3D modeling capabilities by partnering with external providers, ensuring they have the resources to tackle even the most demanding projects. This scalability allows companies to take on more significant projects without the burden of expanding their in-house teams.

Reduced risk of errors

Outsourcing 3D modeling services to experienced professionals reduces the risk of errors in the modeling process. External providers often have robust quality control measures to ensure that the models they deliver are accurate and error-free. This level of precision is crucial in architecture, where even minor mistakes can lead to costly delays and revisions.

Increased innovation

By outsourcing 3D modeling services, design and drafting companies can tap into cutting-edge technologies and innovative techniques that may not be readily available in-house. External providers often stay updated with the latest advancements in 3D modeling, offering access to new tools and methods that can enhance the design process. This access to innovation can give design companies a competitive advantage and help them stay ahead of industry trends.

Focus on client satisfaction

Outsourcing 3D modeling services allows design companies to prioritize client satisfaction by delivering high-quality, accurate, and visually compelling models. When clients can see a realistic representation of their project, they are more likely to feel confident in the design and make informed decisions. This level of client engagement can lead to stronger relationships and repeat business.

Outsourcing 3D modeling services offers many benefits for architects and design companies. From cost savings and increased productivity to access to specialized expertise and the latest technology, outsourcing is a strategic choice that can enhance the quality of your projects and drive business growth. By partnering with a reliable 3D modeling service provider, your design company can stay competitive, deliver exceptional results, and exceed client expectations.

How to Set the Right Pricing Strategy for Your Airbnb in Dubai

Right-Pricing
ID 10315053 ©
Imaani1000 | Dreamstime.com

Setting the right price for your Airbnb property in Dubai can make the difference between a thriving rental business and an underperforming investment. The vibrant tourist destination demands a strategic approach to pricing that balances competitiveness with profitability. Developing an effective Airbnb pricing strategy requires understanding seasonal demand fluctuations, local market conditions, and properly valuing your property’s unique amenities and location.

Dubai’s short-term rental market is highly dynamic, with rates varying significantly based on seasons, major events, and location. Conducting a thorough competitive analysis is essential before setting your rates. Many property owners work with top Airbnb management companies in Dubai to optimize their pricing strategy and maximize occupancy rates throughout the year.

Your pricing approach should be flexible enough to adapt to changing market conditions while remaining attractive to potential guests. Smart Pricing tools can help automate adjustments, but understanding the fundamentals of Dubai’s vacation rental market will enable you to make informed decisions about when to raise or lower your nightly rates.

Key Takeaways

  • Strategic pricing based on location, amenities and seasonal demand creates a competitive advantage in Dubai’s Airbnb marketplace.
  • Regular analysis of competitor properties helps establish optimal rates that maximize both occupancy and revenue.
  • Professional management services can implement dynamic pricing algorithms that adjust rates automatically based on market conditions.

Understanding the Dubai Airbnb Market Landscape

The Dubai vacation rental market requires thorough research and strategic positioning to maximize profitability. Success in this competitive environment depends on understanding local dynamics, identifying ideal guests, and analyzing competitor offerings.

Conducting Market Research

To establish effective pricing for your Dubai Airbnb, comprehensive market research is essential. Begin by analyzing seasonal trends that significantly impact tourism in Dubai, with peak seasons including winter months (November-March) when visitors escape cold climates.

Major events like Expo exhibitions, Dubai Shopping Festival, and international conferences create demand spikes that warrant dynamic pricing adjustments. Research indicates properties should initially be priced below market average to gain visibility and reviews.

Location analysis is critical—properties near Burj Khalifa, Dubai Marina, or Palm Jumeirah command premium rates, while peripheral neighbourhoods require more competitive pricing. Utilize data platforms like AirDNA or Mashvisor to access occupancy rates and average nightly prices for similar properties.

Identifying Your Target Market and Customer Segments

Dubai attracts diverse traveller segments, each with different expectations and willingness to pay. Business travellers seek properties near financial districts with reliable Wi-Fi and workspace amenities, typically booking weekday stays with less price sensitivity.

Luxury tourists, particularly from Europe and GCC countries, prioritize beachfront locations, high-end amenities, and exclusive experiences. They represent a premium segment willing to pay substantially more for exceptional accommodations.

Budget-conscious families and group travellers prefer spacious properties with multiple bedrooms and kitchens, often booking weeks in advance. Understanding these segments allows for tailored pricing strategies that maximize occupancy while optimizing revenue.

Evaluating the Competition

Competitive analysis forms the backbone of effective Airbnb pricing in Dubai. Start by identifying 8-10 properties similar to yours in location, size, and amenities. Monitor their pricing patterns, booking windows, and special promotions to benchmark your strategy.

Review their guest feedback carefully—identify service gaps you can address to justify higher rates or differentiate your offering. Properties with pools, private beach access, or housekeeping services can command 20-30% premium over comparable basic units.

Assessment of market demand should include understanding which property types are most sought-after. Currently, one and two-bedroom apartments in Dubai Marina and Downtown areas show consistently high occupancy, while larger villas experience seasonal demand fluctuations.

Strategies for Pricing Your Airbnb Listing

Establishing the right pricing approach for your Dubai Airbnb property requires a multi-faceted strategy that balances competitiveness with profitability. Effective pricing not only attracts guests but also maximizes your return on investment through strategic adjustments based on market conditions.

Leveraging Dynamic Pricing Tools

Dynamic pricing tools have become essential for Airbnb hosts seeking to optimize revenue. These tools automatically adjust your nightly rates based on real-time market conditions, saving you the trouble of manual price updates.

Popular options like PriceLabs, Beyond Pricing, and Wheelhouse analyze factors including:

  • Current occupancy rates in your area
  • Upcoming local events and holidays
  • Seasonal demand fluctuations
  • Lead time of bookings
  • Day of week variations

These platforms typically charge 0.5-1.5% of your booking revenue, but the increased earnings often justify this investment. Many Dubai hosts report 15-25% revenue improvements after implementing dynamic pricing.

Maximizing Revenue Streams

Optimizing your Airbnb revenue extends beyond nightly rates. Consider implementing length-of-stay discounts to encourage longer bookings, which reduce turnover costs and secure occupancy. Weekly discounts of 5-10% and monthly discounts of 15-25% often attract extended-stay guests.

Special packages for business travellers can generate premium revenue. Offering airport transfers, flexible check-in/out, or workspace amenities allows you to charge more while meeting specific needs of this lucrative market segment.

Cleaning fees should be structured thoughtfully. While they help cover turnover costs, excessive cleaning charges can deter short-stay bookings. In Dubai, standard cleaning fees range from 150-350 AED depending on property size.

Conclusion

Setting the right pricing strategy for your Dubai Airbnb requires continuous attention and adaptation. Dynamic pricing tools can help adjust rates during Dubai’s peak seasons, maximizing your revenue potential throughout the year.

Researching similar listings in your neighbourhood and examining location, amenities, and guest ratings of nearby properties provides valuable competitive insights. This market analysis allows hosts to position their properties effectively within Dubai’s thriving short-term rental market.

Ultimately, successful Airbnb pricing in Dubai combines data-driven decisions with flexible approaches that respond to market conditions. The right pricing strategy not only attracts guests but also optimizes occupancy rates and maximizes your Airbnb income in one of the world’s most dynamic hospitality markets.

What is RTOS and is it the answer to Google’s Wear OS problems?

Smartwatches are now over 25 years old, but just over a decade ago, Apple helped kickstart the current smartwatch industry with the launch of the original Apple Watch. From a focus on fitness to a selection of apps and whimsical watch faces, early smartwatches bore little resemblance to the current best smartwatches with which we’re now accustomed.

The only problem with the Apple Watch is that it was, and still is, exclusive to the iPhone. To answer this and capitalize on the demand for smartwatches from Android users, Google and its partners developed an Android-powered alternative. After many iterations, Wear OS was born, but it still faces several challenges many years later.

To address these needs, companies such as OnePlus have turned to RTOS (Real-Time Operating System), a specialized type of operating system that’s perfect for low-power tasks where precision is required, such as timekeeping. However, is RTOS the answer to Google’s Wear OS woes? Let’s take a look.

The key benefits of RTOS

RTOS has been around for a long time. Long before its applications in the smartwatch space, it has been powering a range of devices and technologies that you’ve likely benefited from. These include devices such as pacemakers for the heart, flight ticket booking platforms, and even RADAR.

Smartwatches that run RTOS are technically using a platform called FreeRTOS. It’s designed to enable the execution of a specific set of features on a single chipset with limited memory, and it doesn’t consume a significant amount of power to do so. Crucially, it offers a fast experience and allows you to utilize several advanced features, such as heart rate tracking, without requiring a large battery or a powerful chipset.

RTOS-based platforms have long been used in smart devices that don’t run Wear OS, such as smartwatches from Amazefit or Xiaomi, or some of the best fitness trackers. The precision of the OS means it’s ideal for features such as heart rate monitoring, but it comes with a key downside compared to Wear OS.

How Wear OS is better than RTOS

RTOS offers numerous benefits to users and watchmakers, but there is one major downside: limited app support. This means that the end-user is at the mercy of the company’s interpretation of fitness apps, features, and watch faces, and it also makes it much harder to switch platforms without losing data.

In comparison, Wear OS takes all of this away from the device maker and instead ensures continuity between different devices running the same platform. You have access to a wide range of Wear OS-compatible apps, and your data remains with you as you switch devices.

Much like your Android phone, Wear OS supports every major app and features a dedicated section within the Google Play Store. It’s designed to be a platform that powers every smart device, but given the need for a small battery in most wearable devices, it does so at the cost of power and efficiency.

The two competing implementations of RTOS

Some companies are fully committed to the Wear OS platform. Samsung has long since abandoned its goals of developing its Tizen-based OS in favor of partnering with Google on Wear OS, while numerous third parties are also creating some of the best Android smartwatches

However, companies like OnePlus and Motorola have demonstrated that RTOS can be a viable alternative for smartwatches, where battery life and efficiency are more crucial than advanced features. As a result, we have two different implementations of RTOS that both bring the same benefits.

Motorola has just announced its new Moto Watch Fit smartwatch, which runs solely on the RTOS platform. That means the company had to develop a fitness app in-house, as well as several apps that replicate the core functionality of Wear OS. Meanwhile, OnePlus announced the OnePlus Watch 3 earlier this year, which combines RTOS and Wear OS into a single device through its innovative dual-architecture approach.

Crucially, both devices capitalize on the benefits of RTOS, but only one minimizes the potential downsides of RTOS.

Is RTOS the answer to Google’s Wear OS woes?

Building a smartwatch with advanced fitness features isn’t easy. As Google continues to expand the functionality within Wear OS, it also means that modern Android smartwatches require even larger batteries. Unfortunately, this means companies must decide between large batteries, small displays, a high price, or a thick smartwatch, and a compromise in any area results in a subpar wearable experience.

It’s not surprising that companies have turned to RTOS, but could it be the answer to the key Wear OS problems? The biggest challenge is battery life, but while the Moto Watch Fit offers 16 days of battery life, it doesn’t provide the benefits of Wear OS. Instead, Google should consider OnePlus and its dual-architecture approach.

The OnePlus Watch 3 seamlessly switches between the RTOS platform for all low-power tasks and Wear OS for more advanced features. The result is the best of both worlds, and a battery that lasts up to four times as long as Google’s own Pixel Watch 3.

If Wear OS is to provide a competitive challenger to the Apple Watch, it needs to solve the key problems. The OnePlus Watch 3 demonstrates that a dual-architecture approach with RTOS could be the solution, but if not, we’ll likely see more RTOS watches and fewer Wear OS watches in the future.

‘If the players own the game, they’ll make it fantastic’: Larian CEO Swen Vincke doubles down on defense of Baldur’s Gate 3 Stardew Valley mod and the modding community overall

Swen Vincke has once again proven himself to be a friend of Baldur’s Gate 3 modders and the wider modding community, doubling down on his defense of mods in a recent GameSpot interview and even advocating for modding as a core part of sustaining games long-term.

Speaking with GameSpot’s Tamoor Hussain, Vincke was asked about the Baldur’s Village Stardew Valley mod that was briefly removed by Wizards of the Coast only for Vincke to come to its defense. The controversy over the mod, and WotC’s position on it, raised questions about what is and isn’t fair game when it comes to modding.

Diablo 4 season 8 release time in your time zone

Season 8 of Diablo 4, Belial’s Return, out this week, sees the… uh… return of an old foe from Diablo 3: Belial, Lord of Lies. In addition to fighting the large, eye-obsessed boss, you’ll be able to wield powers inspired by some of the series’ biggest and baddest bosses.

In this Diablo 4 guide, we’ll cover when season 8 releases in your time zone and what you can expect from Belial’s Return.

Diablo 4 season 8 release time on PC, PS5, and Xbox

Diablo 4 season 8 will launch at 10 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, April 29. Here’s when that is in your time zone:

The launch of season 8 will be global across PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Blizzard Entertainment recently announced a Diablo 4 roadmap, showcasing what players should expect for the rest of 2025. According to that roadmap, season 8 will run until sometime in July, when season 9, Sins of the Horadrim, is set to begin.

What to expect from Diablo 4 season 8

Season 8 is all about killing bosses and taking their powers. Players will be able to harness signature abilities that are inspired by some of the game’s biggest bosses, such as the chest beam from Wandering Death.

With the return of Belial, players will also need to battle ghost-like figures spawned from the Lord of Lies in the new Apparition Incursions world event. Belial himself will be featured as a new endgame boss, and Blizzard will be adding multiple bosses from Vessel of Hatred as Lair Bosses (although they will only be accessible to players who own the expansion). Speaking of Lair Bosses, players will be able to earn increased loot from them over the course of the season.

In addition to some of these endgame updates, Blizzard is bringing some interesting new additions to the game’s cosmetics. First, as you can see in the trailer above, the world of Berserk is coming to Diablo 4 via cosmetics (that you can either earn or purchase). Players who complete the Season Journey during season 8 will also earn a new pet, Iris the hairless cat covered in gross, nasty eyes. It’s creepy!

Finally, the studio is updating how the game’s battle pass works with what it’s calling the “Reliquary system.” Instead of a straight line battle pass that you can progress through, the new battle pass is split into four major categories:

There will also be an Event Reliquary section for Berserk coming on May 6 and lasting through June 3.
